Re: Substation

I actually know the guys behind Substation, or at least used to hang with some of them. Mikael "Empa" Emtinger was one of the coders. He and I where in the same demo-crew. (ZEAL) Also Olov Johansson (now Olov Lassus) from ZEAL was helping out with the coding. He was only like 14-15 years old at tha...

Re: Games on ST that impressed you most?

It looks as if it's available on the ICS ATARI ST Pirate Gold collection. Do you have a link? :) Sorry I kind of just assumed that collection was well known and linked all over the place already ;) I see it has been attached to a post now though. The Hang Loose FTP has four different cracks apparen...

Re: Games on ST that impressed you most?

Magicboy is suppsoed to be STE enhanced. I'd like to check it out but I can't find a crack version of it. It looks as if it's available on the ICS ATARI ST Pirate Gold collection. Do you have a link? :) Try this, I believe it is a full and clean copy of the game. If it isn't let me know, not had ti...

Re: Substation

just got a load of Atari goodies off freecycle, and in amongst everything was a boxed copy of Substation :) do any of you guys know any history behind it ? I realsise it was probably one of the last games released for the STe, and the reviews I've read say it's pretty good, but any other info ? I'l...

Re: STe - too little too late?

Also a lot of the user base did not have access to 'free' software which originally gave rise to their popularity and ultimately their demise. I'm not quite sure I get what you are saying here... Freeware and shareware has always been a big part of the Atari appeal for me. In fact, I can say there ...

Re: Atari CD ROM

Oh wow! This takes me back a few years. I remember firing up my Atari's CDROM drive for the first time and getting it to work with MetaDos. I had the Gemini CDROM with a 2x speed CDROM drive in an external case which had a cable running to a cartridge port adapter. Sometimes the ST would be overwhel...

Re: Bristol

I'd like to see a Bristol Atari User Group. There was one in Plymouth many years ago but unfortunately that died a death. Only went to it once in the early 90s. Meh! Perhaps 2xAA and myself can start a new one. :-)

Re: Atari Legend Updates or Not

Guys, I was thinking about this as well. Here is my thought. What about contacting Kim Lemon? I mean, he was very cooperative in the past and AL is linked to Lemon Amiga. Lemon Amiga and Lemon 64 have great stable cores. Lot of potential. What if he would be interested in some kind of partnership? ...

Re: Atari Legend Updates or Not

*IF* we were to explore the wiki route, it would be based on MediaWiki as this is already the platform used for the forum wiki. However, I have also seen the new skin that Brume was working on and it really does look slick. Hopefully this will make it into the live system one day. I shall be lookin...

Re: Atari Legend Updates or Not

For someone who's been behind the scenes and tinkered with the data behind AL, I would echo the sentiments of those who would like to take it to the next level and turn it into a Wiki-based (but with moderation, naturally) format. New features are still difficult to add unless you know exactly how ...

Re: Image conversion from PC to ST?

There's actually an Atari specific version of N-Convert, XN-Views partner in crime (conversion), as well, so I think somewhere there, there is a Atari/ 68k legacy. Maybe! It's one of the best programmes I've used for diversity of supported image formats. Interestingly it appears that some of the ol...

Re: Image conversion from PC to ST?

I'd highly recommend XnView. I've used it for years and the reason? Not only is it a great (and free!) image viewer and manipulator but it can open and save degas elite images. I think it might even do several other Atari ST specific formats. The image formats it can open and save to is vast.

Re: PC shops any good ones out there ?

I see this thread is a few months old but thought I'd contribute. I've previously used aria.co.uk, ebuyer.com and scan.co.uk which have already been mentioned for nearly a decade. Aria and Scan I've never had issues with. Ebuyer I would give them 8/10. I've only had a couple of niggels from them. I'...

It's not dis-similar in concept to p2p file sharing but the technology is different. BTW chaps, I've downloaded the torrent file and placed it on my seedbox. It's directly plugged into a 100mbps network so I think it will have a max speed of approximately 12mb/s up and 12mb/s down (bytes not bits bt...

Yeah, I've never really enjoyed playing games on a mobile phone, especially since touchscreens arrived... the lack of physical feedback makes it feel crappy. This is a fantastic project. I do hope that it bears fruit. There is one STFM I'd like to re-house because the case is utterly buggered (had been badly treated by previous owner). Not sure about my STe though. It's gone yellow badly and I am in two minds about it. Either I paint the whole case black...

Well. There is Stoid at the moment. Though it does what it should.do there is much that can be improved... I have this on my HTC desire Z, by all accounts it seems to work as it should, the only snag, and it's a BIG snag is how to play ST games using a phone... My handset has a flip out keyb...
