Nice work - just ran it in Hatari. Music is great too!
Thanks. It's a simple sample loop from a website just to demonstate that there's time left for other things. :D

I have a friendly request: maybe the feature of editing the original post will come back again!? ;)

Re: Atari STE Blitter objects demo (new record)

Yeah, it still seems to be complicated getting a convenient solution just for transferring data from (or mainly to) the Atari ST without trouble. I recently "moved" my Atari cross development to a Raspberry Pi 3. With Theia you can develop even with your tablet and I am using the serial interface fo...

By sheer coincidence I finally set up the STE+CRT so I can give it a try sometime today.

Unfortunately my floppy killed my boot disk yesterday. So now I have to wait for a replacement Gotek device... :(

Re: Atari STE Blitter objects demo (new record)

Here's the binary for the demo. Works fine on Hatari and Steem emulators also. Please check if you have graphics issues on a genuine machine which is most likely cause by the old caps in your PSU. ;)

Re: Atari STE Blitter objects demo (new record)

That looks sooo strange o__O Must have been driving you crazy for a while. Glad you got it fixed! Thanks. Yes, it was a real let down on the achievement. It felt like a "speed record that wasn't". Interestingly everything else like demos, games and programs ran fine on my machine and also the origi...

Re: Atari STE Blitter objects demo (new record)

So finally I've got hold of the new PSU and in fact I have to say that it improved the system stability. Now, fortunately, with the new PSU everything looks fine. Here are two video recordings before and after the PSU replacement: Before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcjYgbBM-s0&feature=youtu.be ...

Excellent! Imagine how good it'd look through a CRT with scanlines!
Yeah everything looks better on a CRT :)
You may check this emulator then: https://mattiasgustavsson.itch.io/steem-crt

Re: WIP: ScummVM-Lite Atari

Great result. The torchlight reflections on the walls are now smoother and the palm trees also look more detailed.

Well, I think it is correct when you‘re happy with the result. ;)

Re: WIP: ScummVM-Lite Atari

Thanks for the tests.

Finding a good dither mix is really hard. I would recommend to mix colors where the luminance difference is low. However, dithering with colors of the same hue might be more accepted than others.

Do you have the original colored images as well, just for testing purposes?

Well, I just remember that the models might contain quads so do you discard them while parsing?

For sure.

Have you considered using some kind of dithering for the graphics as the Dawnbringer image already suggest?

Re: This'll probably go nowhere...

Basic ones :) It only loads the vertex and face information. I calculate face normals myself for backface culling and lighting as obj's only provide vertex normals and not sure I'll have the grunt available for smooth shading. I managed to extract the 3D objects from some arcade games and converted...

Re: This'll probably go nowhere...

Well, I like it. In fact it doesn't have to be fast or whatever as long as you and others have fun watching and/or programming new stuff on our ancient machines. So thumbs up!

So you can load Wavefront object files with your program?

Thanks all.
I am currently waiting for my new PSU for the Atari STE due to some strange glitches while watching this demo. The glitches are visible within an one hour time frame after "cold starting" the machine.
