Re: Mega STe differences ?

I made my own floppy disk routine, interrupt/dma based, maybe that is causing issues ? (althought "most" of the data seems correct, but not all, as I get corruption sometimes) I know that, on Steem debug, I get in some case the strange message "ASSERT !(io_src_b&1)" when my floppy routine start read...

Mega STe differences ?

Hello, I recently got a Mega STe, and I was told and was hoping to get 100% STe compatibility, but it seems like it's not the case. I haven't tested official games for it yet, but I'm currently making my own game, which works perfectly on my STe, on Steem and on Hatari (even with Mega STe machine em...

Re: Escape 2042 - A new game for Atari STe

How do you make the game 'playable from hardware' on the Sega Megadrive? I don't understand your question, if you want to buy the game on Megadrive, here it is : http://orionsoft.free.fr/retroshop/md.htm If you want to know how I made the game playable on Megadrive ... It's the same as on Atari, yo...

Re: Escape 2042 - A new game for Atari STe

You actually converted it to the STe. May I ask how you made it? The core Gameplay is the same C code for all the versions, but for the Atari STe specific part, I have about 2000 lines of optimized assembler code with STe hardware scroll and Blitter to make it run at 50 fps. 2 months of work to por...

Re: Creating sound

you could use DMA Sound from STe to play wav samples instead of "beep" sound. I don't know GFA language, but there seems to be DMA commands here: http://freddo.chez.com/GfaBasic/GFABASIC.TXT If you want an 8bits style sound, I'm afraid you will have to learn how to use an YM sound editor (like Maxym...

Re: Mega STe PSU replacement with Flex ATX

I'm wondering why there is a diode between -12v and -5v, won't the current goes through the diode without conversion ?
and, is there any difference between C4/C2 and C3/C5 ? because the value is the same, but the schematic is not

Mega STe PSU replacement with Flex ATX

Hello, I recently acquired a Mega STe, I removed the old harddrive to get a SCSI2SD device, I also acquired a VGA card to plug on the VME bus via an adapter and I would like to add a second floppy drive (Gotek/HxC) Adding all these things, I fear a bit that the original PSU might get a bit tired, an...

Thanks for sharing this, I tried to do something like that for years and never was able to achieve (especially the usb and audio part)
Hatari and Aranym baremetal port would be awesome, we would have like a new fast & cheap atari machine !

Re: "NEOLoad" Neochrome <-> Bitmap image converter

I made some Photoshop plugins (compatible with paint shop pro), that can read/write PI1, PC1, NEO and SPC format
if anyone is interested, that way you can load/save in atari format with your favorite picture editor

no, Firebee is not for games, it's for running GEM compatible application, there is a lots of things yet not working properly on this "computer", and more than 5 years after its release, there has been no major improvement at all (video is still slow, no dsp, no ps2, etc...) definitely not worth the...

Re: Bad Apple by Fenarinarsa (Atari STe demo) !!!!!

I made this demo mainly using Steem SSE for debugging, and check on real hardware from time to time to be sure it's the same behavior, I had no problem.
A mono-VGA adaptator is cheap to buy on ebay.

Re: Bad Apple by Fenarinarsa (Atari STe demo) !!!!!

There are some huge differences between the STE version and the MD version : Yep, 45Mbytes of difference :) when the MD version has only black and white. No, the MD version has 2 bitplane, 4 colors To me, it is just not possible to have Bad Apple in 16 (used) colours without a huge file to load fro...

Re: Bad Apple by Fenarinarsa (Atari STe demo) !!!!!

first of all, this is not a demo, this is a video codec, and a poor one considering the huge file of more than 50Mbytes for example, the same animation was ported on Megadrive which also have a 68k @8mhz and it fits into 8Mbytes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vPe452cegU the real challenge here wou...
