C2P speed on plain ST for flat polygons
I'm curious to know whether the best C2P techniques applied to plain polygon graphics instead of texture-mapped graphics (e.g. Stuntcar Racer) can be faster than the old techniques of rendering 3d straight into planar?

Re: Cho Ren Sha 68k for the Atari Falcon030
It's a pity in a way as I'd love to see a version on the A1200, but knowing that it won't be comparable to the Falcon will probably be the barrier, most Amiga people would rather avoid the comparison I suspect so won't make it. Megaman X conversion thread is a good read:- snip Thanks, I'll have a br...

Re: Cho Ren Sha 68k for the Atari Falcon030
Do you have any links? I need a laugh (not at the fact the A1200 can't do this - it's a good machine I respect.... but at the fan boys, yes!)

Re: 8-way scrolling system for prototyping games on STE
I'm expecting the next announcement to be something like "I have tweaked the AGTRip tool and engine to rip the background tiles, sprites, music, and enemy AI, and completely port any game to the STE from a youtube video. WARNING it's not perfect yet, need 480p video minimum. I have some ideas on how...

Re: CT60e is coming :)
Thanks for the link, I am aware of that mod. But to keep the symmetry in performance the DSP would have to be a bit higher than 50mhz wouldn't it? Should be double the 030 speed? Anyway, I'm not a technical guy so I don't want to derail the discussion or make stupid suggestions, it was just a thought

Re: CT60e is coming :)
A DSP overclock is like adding another item to the "wish list" from a gumby like myself, I know..... but just a thought. I understand the DSP can be faster than the CPU and most software that uses it will be fine, but in the other direction making the CPU fast can get the threads out of sync and cod...

Re: exxos's webshop forcefully shutdown :(
The problem is bitcoin is not a very stable currency in terms of its exchange rates to accepted national currencies, so you have to change your prices a lot all the time to make sure you're not losing "real" money. You also need to cash-out a lot if you want to reduce risk of having all your BC cras...

Re: exxos's webshop forcefully shutdown :(
Wow Troed, something you knew, or are you "Superman of Googling"? It's pretty common knowledge if you have worked in big companies or government organisations. You won't go long without hearing someone complain about a certain manager being "promoted to his level of incompetence", and if you are so...

Re: exxos's webshop forcefully shutdown :(
What a fornicating(EDIT that's a word filter substitute there...) outrage, seriously. Just a joke. I wonder which other punishments for life you should receive for making Atari ST "mod chips"? There's got to be more they can do to shut down this terrible behaviour!

Re: Another company that used Atari
Interesting! I start to think after seeing all these prominent, senior game devs etc who started off on the Atari that it's simply because our generation is really coming into power ("middle aged, white males"), we are managers, the smart guys our age are fulfilling their potential and becoming seni...

Re: 8-way scrolling system for prototyping games on STE
I can't get it to work. I press DEMO1.TOS and after a few seconds it returns to desktop. I can see it writes out something unknown.... but since it return immediately I can't see what else it says. I tried it on both low and medium res. It's a 4Mb normal STE machine. I tried it both from the USB me...

Re: DSP upgrade
I think it's not worth it to people to risk their machines or go to a lot of effort just for this upgrade. It's not like a CPU upgrade which has a big reward at the end. Could you just cut the power pin to the existing DSP and piggy back a PCB onto it? The 56724 is not pin compatible with the 56001 ...

Re: DSP upgrade
Thanks for your response, that's answers exactly the kinds of things I was wondering. I don't know anything about the hardware compared to you but I'm surprised it's that deeply embedded in the chipset, sound hardware etc because I thought when people overclocked it to 64mhz it would have impacts. A...
