I'm also off to the Retro Computer Museum open day tomorrow and could be picking up a spare floppy drive, in which case, I don't have to knacker up the spare one (but it'll need the mouse port fixing at some point) .... .... any *easy* guides, with pics, appreciated for my own non-hardware skills :...

Pretty easy... but why don't you just swap keyboards (that the mouse port is part of)? :D After opening via round holed screws underneath, undo square holed screws (3 of them) underneath that hold the drive... simply unplug power and ribbon cables and put other one in... may foul the case upon putti...

i have this above faulty atari too can't remember when it worked last but i've switched it on and it just about gets to the desktop when... it resets... and plays this loop over and over screen appears, floppy light comes on, everything normal but it just keeps resetting by itself :x cann anyone su...

Right, the motherboard is the (becoming increasingly common) C070789-001 Rev. C version. This is the memory upgrade, dunno what size though, suspect 2 lots of 256K, anyone know? : RAM_upgrade.jpg I've added the board to the wiki ST Motherboards section because of the upgrade: http://www.atari-forum....

ha ha! It was a "Her" actually... I won this for £2.99 - Nottingham is just up the road from me and on the way to my Mum's... Picked it up today and it works fine... it's an STFM Tos 1.02 I think with green power light and orange disk light but the disk drive has a big switch like the Tos 1.0 single...

ok there is NO sound from the TV when trying to load, the tape player i'm using has a volume and speaker and i can hear beep sounds (almost like a modem connecting to the internet) when playing the tape Hmmmm... that's the correct sound... however, not sure you should be able to hear this from the ...

just stays like that when tape loading, no flashing screen or borders Nothing at all!? Strange... can you hear sound through the TV? Volume may require adjustment, start at low volume working up... The tape recorders' head may need adjustment? This is done via a little screw hole usually found abov...

Select "Tape Loader" from the menu,
Put tap in tape player, hook up to speccy, ear to ear...
press play on tape... border should flash constant blue then red then blue/red & yellow/blue whilst loading data...

3 types of STFM motherboard. Thought I would image them before they get robbed for spares. As a proof of concept, I'd consider using some of the original maps... The maps of the original can be found at the bottom of this page. http://www.smspower.org/maxim/maps/sonic.html If you're a really cool programmer and have the time, you could write a program to do this: 1. load up map picture 2....
