Re: Milan questions and requests!

I tried the Radeon card that Didier Mequignon was using on the CTpci but the Milan bios wouldn't start it.

I think it uses some 386 emulation to start the card and the Milan didn't manage to do it.

Re: Milan questions and requests!

Using pci-info my card is described as an ATI Rage Pro, without pulling the card out it is hard to tell more. I got it from a Germany company with the driver. This link prbably tells you more. http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12568 http://www.stcarchiv.de/stc2003/04_rage.php * Mach64 ...

Re: NetSurf internet browser

I haven't tried the proxy but I have seen this issue quite a lot. I've found that if I hit return in the url field then the content of the field gets mangled up. If I click on the url in a page several times then it sometimes works. It looks like a timing or number of hops isse. My isp homepage work...

Re: Milan questions and requests!

I have the isa soundblaster and the later Rage gfx card. I am not sure the drivers are still available commercially.

I use Mint 1.17, I've never used Magic on it so I can't compare performance.

Re: ACP Atari Coldfire

Possibly caused by caching issues in HW. That's one of the reasons I started tinkering with HW to add some of the very, very minor features and to try and get some more people involved again. I created a semi-official Highwire page on Sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/highwire/ and uploade...

I can't remember if NVDI supports Nova, I think wongck is saying you need to disable the NVDI sys drivers and use the Nova ones.

Re: Serial Bluetooth adapter

Two reasons: 1. I don't know how to write drivers 2. the Treo 680 doesn't have wifi (and neither do my colleagues ;-) When I was looking about 2 years ago there were a few serial-Bt adapters around but most required Windos to work. The one I found could be set-up using a terminal, pity it wouldn't c...

Re: ACP Atari Coldfire

Ah the good old business definition of a project. Doesn't matter whether it works or not but we delivered on time :D

I am not involved in the project but to me it has a goal, to build a Coldfire Atari clone. That's good enough for me.

Re: Serial Bluetooth adapter

I suspect that Rs232 is slower than BlueTooth. The reason I chose it to sync my Treo was that it was about the same price as the serial adapter for the Treo and meant I didn't have to plug in. In fairness the pairing problem was nothing to do with the Milan it was the Bt adapter. It didn't work on a...

Re: Cleaning an Atari Falcon

Many years ago I read about a company whose offices were flooded and all the computers filled with stinking sewage. They weren't too bothered about the loss of the PC but wanted to get to the data on the drives. The recovery company put the drives in dishwashers and almost all of them worked afterwa...

Re: aniplayer configuration on CT63 falcon

I have a Milan60 which isn't as fast as the CT6x. It will play mpegs with low resolution but often the sound is like a jumping gramophone needle. There are some settings in the options that will tweak the performance by changing the buffering and frame handling. It's a long time since I adjusted my ...

Re: ACP Atari Coldfire

That was the price I heard but I didn't know how official it was and couldn't find the source. I hadn't realised the parts were so expensive. Obviously this isn't a PC which you have to replace every 2 years because it's too slow or hasn't got enough memory. I bought my Milan in 98 or 99 and I have ...

Serial Bluetooth adapter

I just discovered this little devide http://www.coolcomponents.co.uk/catalog ... cts_id=387

I tried something similar last year. It worked on the Milan and I could set it up through the terminal but it would never pair with my Treo PDA or my colleagues either.

Re: ACP Atari Coldfire

I don't think the price is fixed yet, I have heard rumours, either way it won't be cheap due to the low volume production. I'll still be getting one though, who can resist the temptation ? Casing, keyboard/mouse, drives etc are cheap after that. This will be comfortably faster than my Milan060 and w...

ACP Atari Coldfire

It's good to see steady progress on the Atari Coldfire Project http://acp.atari.org It must be great to see the machine boot up after all the work so far. I imagine there is still a long way to go yet with lots of testing and slowly adding the base peripherals (keyboard mouse etc.)

Re: Highwire crashes on 2nd launch

HW does support more CSS than CAB which is why a lot of pages look better but not perfect. My set-up works great and I haven't used CAB for years. I do occasionaly use Links which was ported but although it supports SSL it had limited CSS support, rather like CAB and it is very slow even on a Milan6...

Re: New Coldari computer in pre order stage

I am glad that someone is trying to build a Coldfire based clone and I wish them well. I think the price will put a lot of people off. Many Atari users never had piles of cash to spend which is why we spent it wisely. Perhaps the price could be reduced if some of the ports were dumped in favour of u...

Re: NetBSD Atari Port

Although it`s late I tried the RC2 and the old 1.6.2 kernel that you listed. The 1.6.2 killed the Milan worse than I have ever seen anything do before. The video output went off completely and it even managed to damage the NVRAM settings ! The RC2 did what the earlier Vn5 did, it just froze the mach...

I haven't tried the 2 that you listed this morning but I will try them tonight after work.

Yes, I skipped the Falcon stage because they had stopped making them and owners weren't selling them.

Should loadbsd.ttp give any output before it launches the netbsd file ?

Re: NetBSD Atari Port

I'll try them later. Are they compiled for 68060 ? 030 or 040 should be ok most of the time too.

I have an ISA sound card, could that be the problem ?

a) uncompress installation/miniroot/sysinst.fs.gz and write it to a 1.4MB floppy disk b) put installation/misc/loadbsd.ttp and binary/kernel/netbsd-MILAN-ISAIDE.gz into the same directory c) Run loadbsd.ttp with '-b netbsd-M' (the above kernel filename but truncated) as an argument d) It should loa...

Re: NetBSD Atari Port

Excellent I should be able to give it a whirl this weekend at the latest. There are only a few gfx and nic drivers for the Milan so the choice is fairly limited. It might not need all 80. This list includes some that aren't specific to the Milan. http://pagesperso-orange.fr/patrice.mandin/en/perso-p...
