Re: interface idea's

I think the software generated Luma output of SDiskEmul is a great improvement over the models with an LCD display. The BOM reduction and reduction in board complexity results in a product with price point with almost mass appeal. I think it is a good design. I have heard that it's video combining ...

Re: Pasti headers / format details / source code

That's the host based USB version rather than the stand alone version? Both versions !: The stand alone version use *.hfe files, generated by the windows software. But there is a limitation on the actual standalone version: it plays variable bitrate track like a constant bitrate track. I will proba...

Re: Jaguar power blight

it happened to a friend recently: The internal switching regulator MC34163DW died ! Symptoms : 12V ok at the input pin of the regulator 0V at the output (should be 5V). When we applied 5V (from an other 5V PSU) at output of the regulator the Jaguar work fine. here a picture of the faulty part : http...

Re: SDiskEmul

The SDiskEmul doesn't have the LCD display - although that would be a neat addition for any future versions I guess. It was more a case of I was there, I saw it running, liked what I saw and luckily there were a few available to purchase there and then. No problem, you have well done :D i have post...

They cannot read/write PaSTi images. They are based on PC floppy disk controllers and just dont have the low level control required. They can only read/write standard .MSA / .ST images. (To a max of 82 tracks, 11 sectors/track in DD mode) And do you know if fdrawcmd support these USB drives: http:/...

The overall impression is that, compared to the Amiga, the ST was made in a hurry, both hardware and software. Ofcourse, that shouldn't be new information to anyone of us ;) I'd like to see some English descriptions of tht TTL-based prototype. Back to French then.... you can find some pictures of t...

Quelques photos interressantes du prototype du ST: Leonard Tramiel invited me over recently to see his original ATARI ST design verification prototype, which was hand built. This unit was constructed in 1984 (on general purpose wire-wrap breadboards which appear to have been etched in 1983). He is p...

Yes, but it seems there are two straps (W300 and W301 on STE) to exchange the internal and external drive.
Indeed in this case you need to open your ST to change the strap ;-).

The version on the website is read-only, but the write support on the usb version is almost finished.
Still some bugs on Amiga, but on ST i can already write on the virtual floppy.

You can use the floppy emulator on the external floppy port of the ST.
By this way you don't need to open your ST and you can use the internal floppy drive.

In fact the sundance emulator is a little tricky: The mcu seems to simply work sector by sector: (1) Loading the sector data from the ST file -> (2) add gaps and convert it to MFM (with crc..) -> (3) Send it to an GPIO. -> (4) back to 1 for the next Sector. This means there are a "time gap" between ...
