Re: Last batch of USB HxC Floppy Emulator

I much prefer your idea of a software selection screen on the Atari itself. That was my idea a long long time ago. With a default boot disk for each platform which could use the computer screen, keyboard and mouse to select disk image(s) into a queue and a single button masquerading as the disk eje...

Re: SDCard HxC Floppy Emulator Preordering

Wow, I'm really curious if our Paypal friends will be OK with this. For us, >1 week shipping time was a reason why we had to completely cancel Paypal-based preorders, they went as far as freezing all our Paypal money, so beware, it's not fun after that, it took me half year to become "legal citizen...

Are you going to be doing a batch of the stand-alone HxC floppy drive emulators? I REALLY want a couple of them to replace floppy drives in Atari ST and Amiga computers.

I don't want to have to connect them to a PC via USB.

Thanks,
Neil

Yes this will be done soon

Re: 1040 STe and 1.44 floppies

Hi folks This question might have been asked a zillion times but well, I cannot find any clear answers about it. I've got a 1040 STE with standard 1,62 ROM and 1 Mb of RAM (4 Megs next week, waiting for the postman to arrive !). I also own a MAC which is my main machine. I make transfers between th...

Re: Last batch of USB HxC Floppy Emulator

There in the market are version that use 1 USB stick to simulate 99 disk. That one cost more than USD$100. I am waiting for that model. Would that be something like this ? I actually think I might have one of those cheap ones that Jeff_HxC2001 linked to, in one of my old keyboards.. At le...

Re: Last batch of USB HxC Floppy Emulator

So to avoid these problems i choose to make an file format that fit very well the floppy emulator hardware. By this way the firmware are very easy to code. It seems sensible enough to have a format that exactly mimics the data stored on the surface of the disk & how it is accessed including the int...

Re: Last batch of USB HxC Floppy Emulator

Indeed the HxC Floppy Emulator supports specific Atari formats (since 2006). Look the supported computers/ file images here: http://hxc2001.free.fr/floppy_drive_emulator/index.html#FILESSUPPORTED Trouble with HxC is the fact you can't use your ST / MSA / ADF / whatever directly. You must preconvert...

Mikro & Jeff_Hx2001, it would be great if these are specific to Atari and does the Atari non-PC tracks/sectors. Those generic ones out there will certainly works with standard PC tracks/sector only. To make things a little bit interesting, I and "some" other developer :) are seriously considering ST/Falcon counterpart to this: http://raster.infos.cz/atari/hw/sdrive/sdriveen.htm The initial idea is to support all ST and Amiga formats, i.e. it should be usable on both machines. Re: Last batch of USB HxC Floppy Emulator

does the atari / amiga etc see the whole card as a floppy disk ? my ideal solution would be a device that replacs the floppy drive and contains an SD card that is seen as a floppy disk - for example, my atari would think I had a 500meg floppy disk. But I expect the OS would freak out if this were t...

Re: Last batch of USB HxC Floppy Emulator

40€ if it was readonly like the current version. 80€ would be ok if it could write back to disk image. Also a version with SD Card instead of USB host would be of much more use because one could use the Atari independant of a PC this way. The question was for the Sdcard version to see if a producti...

A question to the Atari forum community: How much can/would you spent for a SDcard floppy emulator ? 30euros,40euros,50euros,60euros,80euros, 100euros or more ?

Don't forget the degaussing that automatically occurs each time you turn on the monitor. This produce a strong magnetic field.

Re: interface idea's

How it works on SDiskEmul is via the extra joystick port that's part of the device. I've took a look at the SDiskEmul, and if the schematics and FW/SW are free, then there is no need to develop almost the same device (only if the new device would not use the menu with images displayed as overlay on...

Re: interface idea's

I think the software generated Luma output of SDiskEmul is a great improvement over the models with an LCD display. The BOM reduction and reduction in board complexity results in a product with price point with almost mass appeal. I think it is a good design. I have heard that it's video combining ...
