Slingshot - do you have any examples of tilemap rendering? I'll try and search.
Almost all arcade cores (notable exception is the Williams Defender), and consoles have tilemap oriented displays.

Re: Arcade Hardware in FPGA

Try to understand how the usual tilemap rendering works first, sprites can be really confusing if you start with them at the beginning.

Re: NEW OR UPDATED ARCADE CORES

Jotego has updated the private CPS-1 Beta: https://www.patreon.com/posts/fantasy-34642755 Games take about 12 seconds to load and screen can go out of sync during that time, just be patient Must be very big ROMs. But now there's direct SD access, which is 4 times faster than the ordinary method, an...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

POV 26. The bobs on this screen flicker like crazy . A lot of the time they vanish entirely around the middle of the screen, letting you see the background behind them. Additionally, the whole screen glitches quite frequently. This is with TOS 1.02 in ST mode. I've tried it with some fears that som...

The firmware doesn't affect the video output in any way. Nor the ROM, the Speccy has fully hardware assisted video output, not like the ZX81.

MasterOfGizmo wrote:Uart tx is used for tape motor control? What kind of devices does that need?
The 1530 itself. It starts the motor when this signal is active (there's an amplifier in all the C='s to make this signal suitable for controlling the motor). The buttons only activate the sense input line.

Re: Atari 2600 / VIC 20

Can you explain this to me? - that beats me! Only for playback? - does that mean I could read WAV through the mic input? When I switch "Tape Sound: On" I hear the characteristic data sound - can't I record it? Frank You can hear the SAVE sound in the speaker? Then you can record it. Maybe I forget ...

(also very sad to see that the development has stopped on Mist where it continues on the MISTer) Anyone can pick up the development, the repo is not going anywhere. Btw, what development did you see there, I've only seen adding support for a second HD image. The image you pointed is an empty image,...

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

I tried, no noticeable difference on 8bit cores. Will test with MiSTery and minimig. BTW, I have RGB-H-V cable and I think that the PVM expects composite sync, should I use sync combiner H+V=S? Best regards, Goran Not many 8-bit cores supports that settings yet. Maybe NES (and SNES, I think it's mo...

Re: Arcade cores

I haven't made a change request yet as I got sidetracked trying to fix the glitch in sinistar. It is caused when accessing the extra ram used to create the sinistar graphic. The original board, according to the schematics, appears to use a combination of three signals for the access. Will ask for c...

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

It's working because I use external sync?
Yes, the extra circuit is to mix the sync signal into the Y input.

Btw, you can try the no_csync option in mist.ini with RGB+15kHz and this cable.

slingshot, yeah, it seems weird, i agree. But i know for a fact that it worked in the past (but i can't remember which core version of mist...) but now it doesn't. I re-downloaded the 20MB image this evening again and retried it without success. Made sure to only do normal speed and 1MB of ram, but...

There shouldn't be any non-backwards compatible changes. The QL core equally old, and still works.

It seems that games with 6000 and 0000 address don't work anymore. In order Scanlines option don't have effect on YPbPr output, as in the ZX Spectrum Core. Can anyone test on its MiST ? Thanks I can still load two part games, e.g. Defender with $6000 and $a000 parts. What doesn't work? Scanlines on...

There's no "official" timings for > 3.5 MHz, so it doesn't matter how it's done until it runs. No border effects will work anyway. The MiST(er) cores go up to 56 MHz, inserting wait states if the SDRAM is not ready.
