Re: New board: MonSTer

Pop the CPU out and stick it into the MonSTer, then plonk the MonSTer into the CPU socket. Connect the IRQ cable for the IDE interface and that's it.

Re: New board: MonSTer

No soldering if your processor is socketed. If not, then you'll need to desolder the processor and put a socket there.

As for blitter.....

See if these IC's are socketed....

Re: New board: MonSTer

MegaSTE has a VME bus which takes out some of the RAM range possibilities.

Yes, IDE can take master/slave, so you'd have 4 IDE devices.

Re: New board: MonSTer

8MB more on ST/STE, 6MB on MegaSTE. Yes, more TOS versions due to it's Flash chip, and two IDE ports. It can also take a Real-Time-Clock module. That's seperate though. It only disables the blitter on the MegaSTE by default, but soldering, can fix it. Or if you are lucky, the chip in question might ...

Re: New board: MonSTer

The only way of updating firmware (and I'd need to check if there was a good reason to update it) is to return it to me.

Re: New board: MonSTer

I've got a about 3 STE, and 3 MegaSTE boards right now that need testing first.

My soldering rig is getting set up later, but I'll need to find some new parts again, which may put the cost up a bit.

I'll certainly ping on this thread when I'm operational again.

I'll get there.

Re: New board: MonSTer

Should be fine. Need to solder the MonSTer on top of the 68000, and potentially remove the metal sheilding or cut it.

Re: Moving CT60 to a different Falcon

It's running 1.03c right ?

If it's running 2.x then there are issues with that on various Falcons.

Re: MonSTer IDE LED not working

The MonSTer LED just comes from the IDE pins, so it sounds like there's something wrong on your IDE-CF interface.

The only reason the blitter would be greyed out is if you removed the jumper on the MonSTer board across the BLITTER pins.

pin20 isn't used on the MonSTer or connected, so it can't affect the CF cards LED.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

BigDOS only allows FAT16 partitions to be used, these are not TOS partitions. You need to create the type field as $06 to use them with BigDOS, but they can be up to 2GB. BigDOS also disables <32MB partitions, so make sure any partition is bigger than that. Well, it's certainly good that my BigDOS ...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

If you can see the device then it should work. Therefore it should be 1.1 compatible.

How are you powering the Unicorn, and can you check you are getting 5V to it.

What version of HDDRUTIL ?

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

If the Unicorn doesn't see the USB drive, then there's either something wrong with the USB flash drive or the Unicorn itself. Have you tried another USB flash drive ? or even a USB mouse ? Just something USB ? Just load USB.PRG and UNICORN.PRG and see if it scans anything on the bus to confirm that...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Fortunately, the offending instruction is 0x1686 or MOVE.B D6,(A3), a rare instruction that occurs only once in the Unicorn drivers, more precisely in USB.PRG. So I guess this is the location of the crash. At this location we have ... [...] move.w #$48,-(sp) ; Malloc [...] However, it is not normal...
