Help to make 13 pin din to VGA
Okay so I'm using a very old CRT display as a monitor simply using the RF output. Not only is this taking up much room but I already have a VGA monitor sitting next to it which I might as well try and use. I have a VGA TO VGA cable which I will happily cut one end off and solder up a 13 pin din plug...

Re: Advice on disc emulator and recomendations
The Gotek unit arrived running the HxC firmware and it works very well indeed.
Simply add a folder on a usb drive in the format .ST and no more discs. I'm super impressed with this and will have some fun
playing around with this tonight.

Re: Advice on disc emulator and recomendations
I sent an email to the authors of HxC and they confirmed native support which is an absolute bonus if you ask me. I think the biggest problem will be how to identify the menu's which include multiple game on 1 iso image. Not sure how others do this? Looking forward to receiving this and providing so...

Re: Advice on disc emulator and recomendations
So If I'm right and well I'm probably wrong but reading the site for the HxC firmware that is loaded onto the Gotek's then it works out the box with formats .ST .MSA .STT .DIM .STX
Tell me I'm reading that right ?

Re: Advice on disc emulator and recomendations
So many demos and so many games and so little working floppy discs to keep writing images too.
What software is required to convert .ST .MSA files to work with the Gotek with HxC?
I might as well get some converted in advance.

Re: Advice on disc emulator and recomendations
While waiting on the Gotek unit to arrive I have played around with this for the last few days using my new floppy drive and a pile of discs. Honestly I'm in my element, using a windows XP PC and writing disc images, I also found out that my old Atari 2600 Joy stick works on the Atari STe. Played so...

Re: Advice on disc emulator and recomendations
I have purchased the HxC Gotek unit which will arrive next week some time. I can see the benefits from both units however I will try this and most likely also purchase an UltraSatan unit. My replacement floppy drive arrived and seems to work fine. I have come across a slight issue, on the STe the de...

Re: Advice on disc emulator and recomendations
Thanks for the swift reply's, So the UltraSatan Is this simple to connect up and can it be fitted in place of the OE Floppy drive? What is the process to load images ? is this stored onto SD cards ? and will it run image files in .MSA and .ST Im ready to buy either or I just want to make sure I get ...

Advice on disc emulator and recomendations
While I patiently wait for a new driving arriving from e-bay I understand that the future holds little for Floppy discs. The way forward seems to be using a floppy disc emulator for storage using SD or USB memory. Question is that I see 2 popular choices but i know little to nothing about either. I ...

Re: Back to basics with Atari
Okay so a bit of an update. I can format a disc on the STe using its own internal drive. It will open up and display no contents just usable space. The disc is a 720k DD variety. I have a window XP Computer with built in floppy drive which I wanted to use for file transfer and to help me make discs....

Re: Back to basics with Atari
Okay So going down the route of a card reader emulator to replace the drive seams to be the best answer, This unit is around £80 GBP from ebay. I have read that it can have issues with a certain version of tos, How can I find out which version my machine is running? Id love to try and get the SYSINF...

Re: help to replace ribbon cable and other faults
So this will be a challenge, I will order something up and remove the ribbon cable and set about restoring my ST back to former. Once I resolve this I will get a drive and test it again. Ah the woes to revive our youth. As before can a HDD be used instead of the floppy ? or am i complicating things?

Re: help to replace ribbon cable and other faults
Okay that's super thanks for the reply's, I literately took the ribbon right off the board and although I can sit it in place and push it down the chances of it being good are probably slim and would only come back to haunt me at some point i'm sure. I think your idea of breaking away the plastic an...

help to replace ribbon cable and other faults
So I guess all our first posts start with, 25 years ago I put away my Atari St. True story. I'm Chris by the way :) Well yes i hit that age where nostalgia and living some of my childhood memories seems important. My Atari STfm which was upgrade to 1mb got shelved a long time ago and has be...
