Re: Flashback on atari ST....

Shame we still cant have a decent discussion involving Amiga & STs without it devolving into random claims of superiority! Sure the ST had a *slighly* higher clock speed, my suggestion that it would help was purely tongue in cheek. Of course the Amiga had much better graphics & sound processing powe...

It's a processing intensive engine, and it slows down to a crawl as soon as you have 2 or 3 different enemies. Lots of calculations i guess..... I don't doubt what you are saying, but honestly I could code a static screen with an animated sprite in STOS. Animation of two or three sprites is not a m...

Re: Re:

Hmmm I dont quite buy your argument dlfrsilver, I think at the very least the first level (because that is all I've seen!) of flashback would be very possible on the ST. Flashback is way more complicated than shadow of the beast. Not true - beast has multi-layered parallax scrolling - very hard to d...

Are those keys just blank now, or did you somehow get letters on to them after the paint? Its kind of hard to tell from the photos.

Nice colour scheme though!

Re: Thalion logo desktop background..

That Thalion logo looks amazing in HD! One request though, if possible? Instead of opaque blue, could the water droplets be rendered as a water material, so the look transparent & reflect the rest of the picture as a real raindrop would?

SkyStrike+ - cannot get past level 26 - I cant remember why off the top of my head, I think some game event (like bombing a cliff-side artillery maybe) doesn't trigger meaning you cannot complete that mission.

Re: Atari ST on turbo

Some games was even made to use a faster processor, like R-Type II for exempel. R-Type II is terrible slow at 8 Mhz and benefits a lot from using a Mega STE 16 Mhz processor. I'm pretty sure all flight sims (any 3D game really) will run better too. Unless the programmers locked the display routine ...

Re: SONIC on Atari ST

There is no Sonic port for the ST yet. Years ago, there was some talk to reuse the Heartland engine to build a sort of Sonic clone. AFAIK the project did not proceed much further than a sketch of tile sets etc. Nyh was in charge, maybe he can elaborate? I remember that - I believe there was talk (m...

Interesting blog - I've subscribed :) Are you in any way connected to Microdeal then? It turns out I lived up the road from them when I was a kid. All physics games are just clever coding :) Exile would be my perfect example of a 16 bit physics game.

Not an ST? (atari related music)

By complete random, I just found this guy's website. He's got a track called "Not an Atari ST? feat Mr Cool", which seems to sample a movie or an advert or something, about the Atari ST.

Anyway, have a listen, its number 5 in the list on this page:

Hey all, Just for fun I remixed the Blood Money tune from the ST version. Its always been my favorite chip tune, but I've always wondered what it would sound like with some decent drums behind it. Some of you guys are comparing apples with oranges, and arguing on this subject really is futile. There are two issues here: - Amiga has ST beat when playing sample based .MOD files. Most (I presume?) Amiga games had MOD soundtracks, with samples played at a higher frequency than an ST was capable o...
