Re: AGA core for mist

Hi guys ! Did any of you manage to get ScummVM AGA (version 1.5 released last year) running on the MiST ? I intended to use it with my Roland SC-55mk2 hardware synthesizer... In order both to sound amazing and make the emulation a little faster :) Earlier, I managed to get to the menu but it crashed...

Re: AGA core for mist

Chaos : well, he sent me the content of his sd so I used the same config, kickstart, exact same hardfile. I have no error at boot time and tried dozens of games with no pb.

Re: AGA core for mist

Hi Chaos,
Sorry for insisting, but AmigOS2's hardfile works perfectly on my MiST. I'm sure this is a clue!

Re: AGA core for mist

Hi ! We exchanged quite a few emails with AmigOS2. Actually, his hardfiles / settings / kickstart and firmware versions are good : no problem on my MiST. So the issue might be due to some hardware discrepancies (sdram timing, SD card compatibility...). It DID happen in the past (I experienced it) th...

Grey case instead of black ?
Different sdram timings ?
Midi ports by default ?

Re: AGA core for mist

Yes, but with it you are stuck to a specific directories hierarchy and it only supports whdload games. Not sure it detects automatically new entries ? You have to install the full whdload set and are stuck to an old version of it ? But it's indeed very handy to browse efficiently a whole set !

Re: AGA core for mist

Fenio : I didn't have a good experience either with xbench / tinylauncher. They are still buggy imho (I could elaborate... The biggest issue being hd devalidation with tl !!). That's why I start games via the WB but I had to manually select a subset of games otherwise it'd be too slow... At least it...

Re: amstrad cpc 6128

There clearly are physical differences between MiSTs : a couple of releases ago, the Minimig core with the very same SD worked 100% on my old MiST and crashed with many games on my new one. It was fixed in the Minimig 1.1 core (due to different sdram timings...)

Re: AGA core for mist

Guys, before reporting a bug, please double check under uae and a similar config.

Indeed whdload installs are often at fault ! And adf versions often have troubles because games weren't meant to be used on a fast aga machine...

Re: AGA core for mist

Move the monitor files from Storage:DEVS/Monitors to DEVS:Monitors
You can double click to test them without rebooting. Before saving make sure your screen supports those modes. (mine doesn't like 48 Hz DblPal :)

Re: AGA core for mist

I spend a little more time with it : huuuuge compatibility increase here (including many games that had currupt gfx) !! I only saw one tiny regression : WizKid game (WHDLoad) works with the 1.1 core, but I get a black screen with the 1.2 core. I'll try to make a list :) Apart from very few titles, t...

Re: AGA core for mist

Wow, so many improvements from the 1.1 to the 1.2 :-) Such a pleasure to use a 640x400 non-interlaced WB (Euro72 monitor, productivity mode), with much CHIP available (thanks to FBlit + NewICons RTG mode), not having to resort to TURBO mode, and with so many CPU, ECS, and AGA issues fixed. Thank you...

As you can see on this bad video the problem only seems to occur horizontally :

Again, it works perfectly on my Linux pc.

Re: about ludde nes port and simulation

My recent compatiblity issues might be due to the core / firmware combination ? I get a black screen in most games with :

core version NES160107
firmware version ATH160109

when reverting to the previous core, most games work. (VGA)

[Minimig] USB Trackball : too slow / weird behaviour

Hi everyone ! In my arcade cabinet, I use a U-Trak trackball (with the USB interface). It is detected on my Linux PC as a regular USB mouse and works OK (perfectly smooth and accurate movement). However, on the MiST (Amiga core but I'm pretty sure it's the same with any core) movement seems erratic....

Re: amstrad cpc 6128

Hmm, I had some trouble to find an SD which works well with all current cores (including PCEngine) but it doesn't work with the Amstrad core (I get the OSD but garbled / random screen even though I put all the ROMs file). I wonder why there are some cores-specific SD compatibility issues that don't ...

Re: AGA core for mist

People ! Are there known issues with SD cards, apart from some being possibly incompatible. I mean, did you notice some STRANGE behaviours with some SD cards ? I have very strange issues with a cheap SD card, which I couldn't reproduce with a Sandisk one. I thought it was due to the new core, but it...

Re: about ludde nes port and simulation

Hi ! I just figured out Ludde's NES core was updated. I mean, the MiST port on github, don't get too excited :) Sadly, for some reasons, compatibility plummeted from almost 100% to something like 10%. Most games give me a grey (or garbled) screen. Any idea what might have happened ? This version add...

Re: AGA core for mist

A nice tip that works with the new core with CPU fixes : now that FBlit works; install it and in the NewIcons prefs, tick "Use RTG mode". This way, icons will be stored in the FAST instead of the CHIP and you'll save tons of memory. This, along with the future DblPAL mode will make a HUGE productivi...

Amazing news on this new progress report : http://somuch.guru/2016/02/09/a-little- ... imig-core/ :-)

Till : I guess your recent beta was made of version 1.1 + CPU fixes (but didn't include recent 1.2 changes) ?

Very promising :)
