Re: Sotb better on Amstrad CPC + than on ST

The CPC+ is fully compatable with GX4000 games, it has the cartridge port and the guts are those of the GX4000. And yes sorry for the mistake X68000<->FM TOWNS. And yes, no surprise to showcase all this there is the usage of generated code ... The really smart thing to do is to have only the generat...

on bbc micro too (little bit of extra hardware ;) ); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYb7XjnMsaA SOTB might look pretty but its a crap game, I think the Atari lynx has the most playable version (and no minute wait to read the same message whenever you change zones) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n...

Re: Sotb better on Amstrad CPC + than on ST

Byte me: https://demozoo.org/productions/156249/  That's still pretty impressive though, even with the extra chips added to the Amstrad. The lo-rez trees suggest to me massively expanded sprites, and I don't have the big red dragon and other stuff in mine. Though that's really just the tree la...

Re: Sotb better on Amstrad CPC + than on ST

It is a demo, man : stop this childish behaviour. That has nothing to do with a game. I see you are French, I am French too, and you are a disgrace. Looks like an Amiga fanboy retard's remark. It is not Gamopat, here, it is the atari-forum. It is a stunning work for the Amstrad (and that's for the P...

Re: Inexpensive RTC just wire in?

I have no idea if this can help, but in case you choose an I2C interfaced RTC chip, you could choose one where some settings (for configuration purposes) can be retained, too. The Archimedes use this, and it is still being manufactured, and is very cheap : https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/data-sheet/PCF8...

Is it the 2.5 version (with sound enhancement, from 1997 ?)
Reading the disk names, it must be the very 1st version.

Have you got a way I could send you the latest, enhanced version ?

I can' t help on this, for the link, but if you want an archive of the last version of the game (it is free to distribute), I can send it to you. If you have a way to host it ... for everybody to download it. Modified to use the latest QTM soundroutines, as explained here on my channel : https://yo...

Re: Atari and Amiga dev coming from modern systems

@mikro: As it stands at the moment, as much as I think Dougs routines are absolutely hardcore optimized and amazing, I believe I would struggle to get to grips with the whole C setup, as I dont really have a 'working' (as in not having to constantly check the C language and GCC syntax manuals every...

Re: Atari and Amiga dev coming from modern systems

@Zarchos: Well, I was basically looking into the frustrations of learning to set up a programming environment for mainly M68k C=/Atari machines, but what the hell! I have an Archie too, an A5000. I have been itching to use it and even started reading the Peter Cockerell book you mentioned. However,...

Re: Atari and Amiga dev coming from modern systems

Oh well I am again going to talk about the Archie. Systems pre RISC PC.(So, that's ARM2, ARM3, ARM250 based machines). They all have either RISC OS 2 or RISC OS 3. Switch an Archie on, it works straight out of the box. No fancy little strange pieces of code to add, and that not everybody will have o...

BIN purchase on Ebay, what is that exactly

Hi all.

Saw this, saw the price, brain had a sudden 'purchase DMA'.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162639957643

Now I wonder how good it is ... I think it is but well I do not own a TT yet ...
Any idea ?

I bought the job lot (5 units).
If anyone wants one, just let me know.

Xavier.

OP, well English isn't my mothertongue but I have seen this acronym used to mean 'Original Poster' (in the thread) and that means you in this thread. And yes I am one of your suscribers, the very same one who offered to give you a fully tested, expanded, crammed with games, BBCA3000 (value : about G...

Re: Acorn Archimedes

Acorn was never interested by distribution outside the UK, except maybe in New Zealand or Australia, and it seems even over there, if it was a small success, in a way it is thanks to the CEOs of the companies importing and promoting the machines there. RISC OS and the accompanying RISC OS documentat...

Re: The Falcon's confusing history

So on Archi you have 8bit chunk mode but you can not choose colors? It is like 8bit pallet... (half of ST color palete)? You have only 16 entries so the other 240 colours are derivated from your freely selectable 16 base colours. Still, it is possible to have some interesting 256 colour palettes. h...
