Re: Droid: STE Edition - WIP thread

IMHO crouch jump could still be easier, I'm still failing with it maybe once every 3 jumps. Or maybe I've just lost my droid skills... Is somebody else having problems with the crouch jump still?

Had only time to test it quickly for now, but the crouch jump issue from earlier version seems to be fixed which is great!

Re: Having issues running games lately + a couple questions

Fast forward shortcut key is a toggle. Statusbar issue could be with your Hatari launcher. It could be specifying a different config file. Direction options probably need to be configured somewhere lower level than in Hatari. Hatari uses for Joystick directions whatever SDL library provides for it.

Re: programs run at half speed in mono mode

Some questions: * Which version of Hatari this is? * Is it running on Windows, Mac or Linux? * Are you emulating mono monitor with ST/STE, or with TT or Falcon? * Is there MIDI clock option for Breakthru, and if yes, what you've set it to? I think Breakthru 2 is successor to Sequencer One (which can...

I'll try to read up on Git and figure out how to submit the pull request :) I'm a bit of a noob with Git, it's all about Perforce at work  I've had very little use of Perforce, but AFAIK most Perforce users are migrating to Git, due to speed, distributed usage etc. As to Git hub pull request, ...

Thread mentions code being now in: https://github.com/cheesestraws/lisa-gemdos And there seems to be also an emulator (LisaEm) for Lisa here: https://github.com/rayarachelian/lisaem I haven't tried either of them yet though. I think EmuTOS port to Lisa would be more interesting than improving lisa-g...

Re: Two ideas for hatari

I meant not interested in implementing them themselves. While the floppy sound would be nice, I think doing it well isn't very easy, as there are the real FDC emulation and less accurate FDC emulation to which one needs to integrate the floppy sound. Sound output needs to be mixed to other emulation...

I've found it to be noticeably faster. VDI / line-A text drawing is somewhat slower than with Atari TOS, ... The numbers (EmuTOS compared to TOS 2.06) speak for themselves. Right, with ST EmuTOS is about same perf [1]. Looking at GemBench results and 2019 mails, text perf gap is only with blitter (...

Re: Hatari on RG 350 handheld

Hatari isn't HW dependent. If CMake, zlib and SDL v1 or v2 library are available for it, you can build Hatari. How well it runs, depends on how well SDL library works on that machine. If the machine is ARM based and runs Linux, Hatari is most likely already available for it from corresponding Linux ...

Re: Two ideas for hatari

I don't think any of the Hatari developers is interested about these two features, but you can always propose your own patch to hatari-devel mailing list. As to 1), do you mean showing the message in the emulated Atari screen? You can already do something like that with a trivial few line Atari prog...

Re: WIP: ScummVM-Lite Atari

Day of the Tentacle will likely never really reach good performance on 8Mhz machines and I'm fine with that. A Mega STE or better should play it just fine with speech enabled (less some expensive cutscenes) and I think that is acceptable. Tried DOTT demo with the new version on 8Mhz Hatari STE emul...

Re: MiST in 2020

I agree that it is in active development. However, as someone looking to just play a few games, I found EmuTOS to be a bit slower and have some compatibility problems in the past. I am concerned that developers of old games used undocumented features or locations with their games. I admit that I ha...

Re: Having issues running games lately + a couple questions

If you've added "--grab" option to Hatari command line, it will take mouse grab on startup. You can toggle mouse grab with AltGr+M keyboard shortcut. Mouse grab is released also while you have the Hatari options dialog (F12) open. You can disable Hatari statusbar using Options (F12) -> Hatari Screen...

Re: MiST in 2020

I think best thing to use for Atari ST/STE/etc harddisk access would be latest EmuTOS version because EmuTOS has builtin ACSI, IDE & SCSI support (in 512k version), i.e. you don't need separate drivers. However, I'm not sure how compatible MiSTery is with EmuTOS (some earlier MiST versions had probl...

Re: The Top 50 Atari ST Games - The Great Atari ST Game Survey

Starglider 2 is one of the few games I bought for my STfm (mostly I played PD games, and coded) and I still have it in the closet along with the other games. Argonaut SW supported games both on color and mono monitors, which one of the reasons I bought Starglider 2, besides liking earlier Starglider...

Re: Mounting a Folder on Linux

EmuTOS includes harddisk driver, Atari TOS versions don't. For Atari TOS, you need to first get a hard disk driver suitable for given machine type, and boot your HD image with a HD driver floppy image, or install that specific driver to the HD image after creating it. Some older Atari TOS versions m...

Is your Hatari built against SDL2? SDL2 doesn't anymore support those environment variables, like SDL1 did.

Don't try to specify directories as disk images. :-) Just drag suitable thing to Hatari / give it as command line argument, and Hatari will automatically use it: * Floppy image -> mount that as floppy, and set A: as boot drive * Host directory -> mount that as GEMDOS HD, and set C: as boot drive * A...

Ubuntu 19.10? If you have built Hatari with older Ubuntu release, try rebuilding it, maybe without portaudio (Falcon mic) support. Does sound work in other SDL applications linking the same SDL version [1]? [1] You can use something like "apt rdepends libsdl-mixer1.2" to find out programs using SDL1...

MiNT issue I think it's more about working nicely with other multitasked applications, than under MiNT.
