Re: SOMMARHACK 2020 - just started!

out of curiosity, why twitch? why not youtube? it's live is recorded and also chat is preserved Yep, youtube was definitely an option and it was used last year I think. I'm not sure if there was a specific reason why Twitch was used this year. I wasn't part of that decision. The chat was lolz, but ...

Re: SOMMARHACK 2020 - just started!

Did anyone record the competitions with the chat visible? Unfortunately some of us (organizers) didn't have the chance to follow the chat and it would be fun to read it all. I'm not so familiar with twitch. Why that stream wasn't recorded automatically? I'm afraid it wasn't. We were all new to Twit...

Re: It's that time of the year again

Thanks guys! Evil was so kind to upload a new capture of the demo that's slightly better than the first one that was published. So if you don't have the real hardware to watch the demo on, this youtube video will be the second best alternative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O155Eyh9Nc8 @dml: If yo...

It's that time of the year again

Heya'll, New Beat released a new demo for the Falcon030 at Sommarhack 2020. The demo is for standard 16MHz Falcon030 computers with at least 4MB of ST-RAM. It runs on standard VGA monitors in standard frequencies (60Hz). So should work just fine on any modern monitor. The binary can be downloaded fr...

SCSI FDC adapter looks great! Just be careful and ensure the fit is tight, the SCSI chip is fairly easy to kill with a glitching connector/connection.

Re: 2.5" to 3.5" adapter for the (C-Lab) Falcon

That looks like a patched up MK-II board? My MK-II SCSI piggy back adapter does not have the resistor packs. It may or may not work. I don't see why you would need/want to have a termination in the middle of the SCSI bus? Perhaps the added resistor packs are supposed to compensate for the lack of te...

Would it not be possible to harvest connectors from existing ST, STE, TT, Falcon motherboards? I bet there's quite some non-functional boards in people's possession.

Re: Can I connect Mega keyboard to a Falcon?

You will need some sort of switch. Falcon keyboard is still connected with its regular plug connector, except Falcon pin 4 (vcc) is routed through an on/off switch. I am thinking that by turning this to OFF will disable the keyboard, and ON will enable. In the OFF position I am hoping the RJ12 will...

I fixed the orientation of the pages (all landscape now) and ran the scanned pages through an OCR software to make the PDF fully searchable. Please use this new document and if you downloaded the first version, please delete it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/uyjc2icbzvu99bp/interface_manual_2_auflage_19...

Re: Interface GEM resource editor: missing mydial

Unfortunately not. The Interface manual is in German and with 150 pages it would take quite some time to scan it. If there's enough interest I'll consider doing it. Don’t know if you are still following this thread? You are talking about a manual that is 150 pages long? I wander what you are referr...

Re: Editing a message

*Edit* (now see what I did there) Now I do understand the argument of certain pinned threads, or first post in a thread, would benefit from being editeable. But how often is there really a need for that? Often enough to motivate everyone perpetual editing rights? Or seldom enough that it's a minor ...

Re: Editing a message

IMHO the amount of posts I've made over the years, I've rarely needed to go back and edit the original. I'd rather post an additional chunk of text highlighting the error and then moving on. I don't see a problem with this change. Those that are interested in my waffle get an update and know to go ...

Re: Editing a message

Maybe someone of the admins should take a look at https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/gn36_firstpostedit/ I think that could solve at least some of the problems. Yes! That would be a perfect trade-off between unlimited editing and our wish to be able to edit the first post, but unfortunate...

Re: Editing a message

We made the change to prevent abuse. While the amount of times its happened is small, the change was made to prevent it happening again. The ideal solution is to have shadow copies / versioning of posts, so that if something questionable happens, mods/admins would be able to see what edits had been...

Re: Editing a message

Possible abuse as on atari-home.de was the main reason, the discussion is still going on on the admin team. Please be patient. Possible abuse or actual abuse? To me that's a big difference. Even if it was actual abuse, the consequences of restricting editing is in my opinion a lot worse than a few ...
