Re: Installing COMPO/TALON AT-SPEED in mega ST

More resurrection of the dead threads...

I have a slightly water damaged but complete original manual as supplied by Compo for my C16. (approx 1993)

I'll have to scan in all the pages (31), and compile them into pdf or something.

For the cause, I'll attempt it tomorrow

Cheers

Re: St-fm cpu overclock

Right, So a second GAL routine is needed. There looks to be some pins spare. Now my ST is running again, I am testing/modifying the GAL program for 8/16Mhz switching for the FDC chip, for the CPU instead. It can take the 'enable' signal from your GAL decoder, and combine it with AS/BG signals much l...

So the actual 8/16Mhz switching is still selected with gates then, controlled by a GAL using MegaSTE addresses?

Re: Modified ST hassles

Okay, its been a while in here. Well I dusted off the Atari- chased away the spiders and remembered the blitter is still not working after a small beer spill some time back. Its alive again. Just. The IDE board is still working and the HDD seems to be okay after some time in hibernation. However my ...

Re: St-fm cpu overclock

Hey Exxos how ya doing.. While I'm not in a creative mood, I am wondering if the GAL based High Density mod Holger and I ended up making for DarkLord would improve the 'cleanliness' of the clock pulses for the Overclock. Remember we needed something better since his Pak030 basically crashed when the...

I think this is what you are looking for.
GALSW.zip
Or the software I used with Holger

The syntax is a little different, and runs on the Atari instead of the PC

Re: ST-BOOK ROM dump?

Well that seems to have worked -- I've just booted Hatari into the US TOS 2.08 :) Although you need to configure it with 14MB of memory or it bus errors (there's some accesses to 0xD00000 during boot). Interestingly, one Atari documentation file I've got on the ST Book lists two 256k system extensi...

Yes but, No need, it will only be active if you choose to load the software that engages the mod. Otherwise the machine is normal. Bypass mode so to speak.

Easy.

Re: Marpet xtra-ram mystery

For the process of testing, install the two 256k simms that are previously known working, in the sockets that serve as bank 0. (They would have been installed in bank 1 originally) Keep the 59,60,61 resisters tied to 5v, we want the ram on the marpet to be recognised. Also check check that for some ...

Re: Marpet xtra-ram mystery

R59,60,61, undo the end closest the MMU, connect to the 5v end of the large capacitor. Some say only the CAS need disabling, I believe all three RAS,CAS0/1 do. R71,72,73 are not required, there are only needed if memory was actually in bank 2. The Marpet has its own resisters, and it is fed directly...

Re: LASCAN, Should I make a few more?

I looked at the schematic for this mod. This mod is Not for centering the atari screen on a LCD monitor. I suggest reading the documentation to determine that this mod is what you want. I would expect that a mod to center the atari screen on a troublesome LCD monitor would adjust the timing or pola...

Hi folks, A new thread on an old subject.. Overscan. Without naming names.. Darklord (oops I've done it... lol) want's to fix/centre the display output on his idea of putting a newer LCD/TV in his STacy. Problem is, We are not the first to notice that often the display is badly centered on the scree...

That answers & confirms the question of STE use.. there is no reason why the 1.6x TOS won't work as well.
