Atari ST demos on 2 disks supporting drive B

As I just took my SF314 drive from the basement and do some tests with it, I wonder if there is some knowledge on which ST two disk demos are actually supporting a drive B. I remember that there were a few - not necessarily those one would expect to, and also the other way around. Any hints? Disk dr...

Re: MEGA ST 2 - what could this strange add on be?

Thanks Mark. Switching / holding the button did not affect anything like speedup. But the temperature detection seems to work in a way that the fan starts after a while when the machine is in use and not instantly when the machine is switched on.

Re: MEGA ST 2 - what could this strange add on be?

You guys were right. Later on I found there is a poti on the device to adjust the fan speed (off to "megafile kind of level"). Maybe the button is to switch on/off temperature detection, but I could not really get this working in my tests. However, setting the fan speed is pretty useful as allowed m...

Re: MEGA ST 2 - what could this strange add on be?

Thanks for the replies and information, this makes sense and explains why the fan was turned on or off at times. The button functionality is still a bit of a mystery but I will make more tests tonight.

Re: MEGA ST 2 - what could this strange add on be?

The disk errors are now gone and loading software works again. Pressing chips helped. However, that fan now turned off completely. Maybe one of the cables is not sitting properly or so. I wonder if the fan in Mega ST can stay switched off completely or if it will overheat? I read its a problem for M...

MEGA ST 2 - what could this strange add on be?

Hi everyone, currently, I am checking a long stored Mega 2 machine. It has a button on the back and inside I found this little add on glued on one of the chips (well the glue is gone, so I lay it on the side for the photo). It is this white "board" with the black box attached and some "transistor"-w...

Re: SaboTagE - New STE demo by Paradox

Great you like it, in fact we were not all sure about how the story idea would do. It's a bit different thing from common demos (which I really really like). But anyway our gfx-man Dan just sticked to realize the idea and thats the way it worked out. Cheers!

Re: SaboTagE - New STE demo by Paradox

Thanks for the nice comments, glad you enjoyed our prod. The musics use 3 YM voices (1 of them with Timer effects like SID) and 1 STE-DMA channel with fixed STE frequencies. MaxYMIser also allows to use 2 STE-DMA channels with various frequencies, but this option is very CPU-consuming, so not an opt...

Re: Test your listening skills (some questions about YM2149F vs emulators vs MIST)

I think the sound emulation of STEEM is not bad at all, but there are some differences to the real thing. I remember that the DMA-sample frequencies were not the same as on real hardware and there are quite some other timer-effect differences. But for simple "prototyping" it's totally fine I think. ...

Re: ACE Tracker - pliiiiiiiiiz help!

ACE tracker just told you that you use too much cpu time. Try one of th e following: - switch to 32 khz in the master area or - switch off some channels or - put all delay knobs in the master area to zero to reduce cpu use. On standard Falcon you should get at least five channels with full effects i...
