It is not matter of fortune, but depends from users knowledge, willingnes to read manual and of course how Windows XP is healthy. Your testings of Makedisk under XP ? It works not at all. Makedisk may work max. up to WIn 98/Millennium. But not under NT, XP etc. Not on some new, faster CPU. Only SW ...

Really? It has worked fine for me on everything I've ever thrown at it. Including extreme format disks. Although I've tended to READ rather than WRITE. Floimg is so much more convenient to use than rebooting to DOS to use Makedisk 1.5 yes, really. consider yourself lucky, others were far less fortu...

I don't think soldering pcbs to boards is 'simple to learn' soldering pcbs to boards..? maybe if you're naturally good at it yeah that helps, but i did suggest education. but thats like saying anyone can get good at playing the drums, or running, or rally driving and so on and so on i'm sure anyone...

Still even if opensource... doesn't mean that suddently I know how to make a PCB, or read the components and know how to solder :lol: I know alot of remaining Atari user knows alot of component, PCB and using soldering iron...

if the monitor has scart, don't bother with composite video, picture quality will suck no matter what.

The video cables seem to be cheaper than usual. Also, nobody is forced to buy anything. Also, nothing is stopping the bitter people on this thread from producing a cheaper alternative themselves, except lazyness.
