Re: Daimakaimura (Ghouls 'n Ghosts) for the Atari STE

FYI: I tested sprite streaming using AGT, it worked, but really not used yet in the Metal Slug demo. As well; if you are using preshifted sprites, a good way to decrease the needed RAM, is to store only the needed preshifts; if an enemy moves 2 pixels at a time, store only 8 preshifts of this sprit...

As long as the hardware is connected to the ACSI or IDE interface it should work. At least I think it should work since I still need a working test program. ;)

Re: Daimakaimura (Ghouls 'n Ghosts) for the Atari STE

And if you make “sprite streaming” then it will require less then 4MB? The sprite streaming idea has no proof of concept yet so I cannot comment on that. I did some tests on how to read from files on the harddisk directly without using the OS, though. So far this works on ACSI and IDE devices alrea...

No. The current approach requires too much memory and to fix this I need the sprite streaming so I will have to go back a few steps in development.

If this is the case i guess colors are changed into the borders which means palette is stable for the whole line at the opposite of spectrum 512 or similar approach ? Am i right ?
Correct.

joska wrote: Sun Dec 06, 2020 5:00 pm I don't know that chip, but it will work fine as long as you can set the correct baud-rate.
Ok, thanks.

I think sticking with an FTDI device is the best choice here especially in respect to the supported baud rates.

Re: Remote development on ST/TT/falcon

It is actually not difficult to implement a Falcon keyboard on that Mac. You need an FTDI USB<->TTL serial adapter. Set the FTDI's baud rate to 7812.5 baud (divisor 384, subdivisor 0) and connect it to the Tx/Rx pins on the Falcon keyboard connector. Now you can start pushing keyboard/mouse events ...

Thanks for the info. I've got into some troubles as well with the x86 based DSP assembler I am using for my Falcon projects. Will check out tomorrow how far I'll get. ;)

Well, I think I need to get back on track again with my ideas and projects. So many things which are not even finished and I was pushed back by the Blitter hardware problems I was facing some weeks ago. :( However, this thread should return to the AGT discussion again. ;) I would like to add the AGT...

This came out as a working solution after spending some time to find a proper streaming configuration for cvlc: cvlc -vvv v4l2:///dev/video0 --v4l2-width 720 --v4l2-height 576 --v4l2-fps 50 --v4l2-chroma mjpg --sout '#std{access=http{mime=multipart/x-mixed-replace;boundary=--7b3cc56e5f51db803f790dad...

Re: Remote development on ST/TT/falcon

That USB capture card is the one I had my eyes on! And since I have a supervidel in my falcon I was gonna pipe the feed via vlc on a mac to another mac. It's really a nice device. Some update on the streaming attempt: I can now watch the live video using ffmpeg and cvlc with the following parameter...

Re: Remote development on ST/TT/falcon

Well, this is an interesting idea. I already have an Raspberry Pi 3 as a "remote development device" which is connected via an USB serial adapter to the Atari STE. The Atari machines are in the basement so it would be really nice to have full access from the upper floor. So I was curious and bought ...

Re: Blitter routine OK on STE, KO on Falcon (skew register)

This is not a typo, it is taken from the blitter faq section 3.j. Sorry, my bad. I shouldn’t assume anything without asking first. :D I was too focused on the „nop“ because that code part will not work as intended when it resides in the instruction cache. I remember that there’s a „tas“ version as ...

or.b #$80,BlitterMiscReg1.w .waitFinish\@ bset.b #7,BlitterMiscReg1.w Since you're starting the Blitter already with the "or" instruction you only need to check if the Blitter is still running by using "btst". Probably a typo? or.b #$80,BlitterMiscReg1.w .waitFinish\@ btst.b #7,BlitterMiscReg1.w

Re: RetroTINK 2X-SCART with Atari STE

However I think there has been a shift in the price of the OSSC to about £68 and I'd recommend that instead. (P.S. I've not bought from this vendor) Probably a good catch. However, you should be aware of this: https://videogameperfection.com/2019/04/19/about-bootleg-osscs/ I am not sure if the qual...

The screenshots have been taken from an old Samsung TV which is arguably not the best for judging the image quality. I'll have to check it on the newer TV later on. Maybe I'll do a video recording as well.

Re: RetroTINK 2X-SCART with Atari STE

Nice Anima, I have been tempted by one of these rather than the expense of an OSSC. Do you have any screenshots? In fact, the OSSC was also on my wish list for the ultimate experience. The RetroTINK was interesting due to the optional blur effect mode and the compact design. Tests with different ad...
