Re: linux: force hatari window position

No, does not work. I also searched other SLD projects (pygame) and there the environment variable does what it should. Or maybe it's my window manager. It's xfce, not gnome or kde.

I confirm, you probably told hatari to mount a linux home directory as disk image. Post a screenshot of the configuration dialog.

Re: Fullscreen + maxYMiser / Megatizer / Triplex / Chipmon

I had once the idea how to do this. Just use the normal driver (requirement would be that the tune is 50Hz). And have in each overscan line a check if any timer has generated an interrupt, then manually jump there. Means use polling on the MFP, something one always does in fullscreens. I'm not sure ...

hatari: again sound not working (linux)

Hi I had sound on hatari 2.2.1, and at some point it stopped working. Not after logout login, just like that. I had hatari running from the day before, still with sound. I stopped it, started new, and then there was no more sound. Ubuntu 19.10 Linux reboot does not help It spews out lines saying "WA...

linux: force hatari window position

Hi

I was looking into asking hatari to open in top left corner instead of the middle of the screen, but it seems not to support the linux style --gemoetry option. Is there another way or do I need to use an external tool (i.e. xdotool)?

Re: Can't rip Maggie 5 module (Chris/ULM) HELP PLZ !

Hi XMD rings a bell. Same format used by 'Kicking The Bass Into Your Face' . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJRCgeIL3UU I think XMD stand for eXtended MoDule. So it must be modfile, but ULM style. And XSD is the Sound part (the instruments) maybe XMD is Xtended Music Data? Anyway, it contains the t...

Re: Hack fancy soundship visualizer into hatari

Oh, only 1 window? Well a command line option which sends the useful data to terminal, or a file, which then can be used by a separate program to display. Of course this will then be less synchronous compared to a direct display.

Re: https for atari-forum.com

Hi, Making atari-forum support https, will not disable http. So both stay accessible. There are 2 ways to force people to use https. 1) if they once visited https version, then the browser will always force https (via the HSTS header) 2) add the site to hstspreload.org so browsers supporting that, w...

Hack fancy soundship visualizer into hatari

Hi I always wanted to create a visualizer which nicely shows what's going on in the YM when those complex timer powered chiptunes are playing. First I thought to use a standalone program, then to modify sc68. But when you know that not all tunes are available as sndh, it may be best to modify hatari...

Re: Sync-tricks/fullscreen discussion

I actually develop this in hatari, and the emulation is very accurate. Just some useless features are not emulated. i.e. on a real ST if you 'open lower border' 5 lines too early, you kill DE. So you get black, not background color. looks like starting VBL early. I will check how the jitter is for e...

Re: Sync-tricks/fullscreen discussion

New version. the eclock jitter is now in the vbl, so one can also explore the lower border. Next is to go from dbf to lines (via HBL) and position. I wonder if the jitter is same on every HBL or if I need to adjust per line. Then add a key to freeze a switch line in place and have a new line to move...

Re: Sync-tricks/fullscreen discussion

well you really need an STE to check which position does what and compare that to the FPGA output. If you need specific changes to facilitate your testing, create an issue in the git repo (if you got an account) or just write here. For now I have the idea to display the position as line and cycle, a...

Re: Sync-tricks/fullscreen discussion

I developed the thing in hatari and then made it work on the STE. But I did not check the differences. Anyway, future changes will be to use HBL for up/down movement instead of a dbf loop. This will make it possible to have more (slow) text output with infos. And maybe also a key to "fix" a switch i...

Re: Sync-tricks/fullscreen discussion

The microwire code is from anno 1990 DSOTS :-) we did it wrong back then, so doing it wrong today. Need to keep the spirit alive! I also removed other video initialization code which just somehow disable the full STE video out (on the STE, not on hatari). When you get planes mashed up, this is...

Re: Sync-tricks/fullscreen discussion

Here is the sync-explorer. A liittle tool to have fun placing a frequency or resolution toggle somewhere on screen. Behaviour is different between hatari (newest version) and a real STE. Especially with the Hi/Lo switch. It uses Troed's eclock jitter compensation to stabilize. But on VBL instead of ...

Re: unsynchronous fullscreen-routine

I did some trials. So far variable time overscan works by doing lots of 'bsr overscan' in your code. Works on hatari and after a lot of changes also on an STE. I also tried to do this with interrupts. That worked in hatari but was a total failure on the real machine. I will post again when I publish...

Re: Sync-tricks/fullscreen discussion

Hi I updated my calculator with the 0 byte line. Also gave it some options to change if you use eclock-sync or classic sync and to change the number of different line lengths and on how many scanlines you want to fit the hardware scroller. https://github.com/gunstick/hwscroll It effectively calculat...

Well, here it is. Timer setup, and some time later usage. It's for IRQ overscan, which does not work, btw. ; init timer move.b #0,$fffffa19.w ; 1:4 A bset #5,$fffffa13.w ;unmask A bset #5,$fffffa07.w ;enable A clr.b $fffffa09.w ;kill C + ACIA move.l #tima,$0134.w ;timer A vector move.l #nospur,$60.w...

Re: Sync-tricks/fullscreen discussion

I found that the 0 byte length was unstable, so I never used id. I knew about it when DSOTS came out, but it was dismissed as unusable. I don't know why I never found the +2 at the beginning of the screen, because I wrote a program which could put the 50/60 switch at any position sequentially so to ...

Re: Parallax Distorter 2

A long time ago (i.e. in 1992) a friend told me to make the parallal distorter 90 degrees rotated. And I was like "htat's impossible" and the friend looked at me very seriously "you and impossible? lol!". So I got to work. I designed my first vertical disting scroller for that. The rest is quite sim...

Hi I feel quite honored of this remix. All the wonders what opensource code can bring. I also created an STf vertical distorter, which uses hardscrolling to map vertical scrollers horizontally. It is the always hidden screen you can find in the Oh Crikey demo and in the Snork demo. I use a 2 bit ben...

Re: What is $60 for? spurious interrupt

Hi I found a source code which apparently deliberately creates a spurious interrupt. And it's called 'MK_NMI' but I think that's mislabeled. This happens when setting timers in the MFP in an incorrect way. I am a bad MFP / timer programmer, so when I do, I do it wrong and have to put an RTE into $60...

Re: state of the art atari SNDH music?

So I have been heavily analyzing chiptunes, up to the point to write a sc68 ascii-dump replayer for the ST together with Ben/OVR. Well some tunes have so many updates to the YM that 8Mhz are not enough, notably Flash of the Rom by gwem. So if you look for a chiptune using everything Maxymiser can th...
