Re: Best possible Audio-Output-Stage
I'll give that a shot! EDIT - is it a ground problem though, if the crosstalk is happening inside the STE? If the special cable doesn't help, then you may need to do a visual inspection for bad solder joints (especially on bypass capacitors). Note that this cable may work better, one way around tha...

Re: Best possible Audio-Output-Stage
Make a phono cable with a 4.7 to 10 ohm resistor (stereo) in series with each (left/right) grounding shield. This lessens ground loop current between the STE and external amplifier.junosix wrote:Ah, that's a shame. You get the left-channel squeal on your STE too? It drives me mental.

Re: Best possible Audio-Output-Stage
Hi, I looked at nada-san's schematic and the STE schematic to determine what was done to make the sound better. The STE sound is actually not distorted... the sound is simply too loud for the device connected to the output jacks. Here is a two wire (stereo) mod that will lower the output and invert ...

Re: Not able to write to blank disks - issue
I am having issues with this too. I am just creating standard DD and am attempting to write some files to A: Everything looks fine an dandy in Hatari, but the .ST file is untouched so it just looks like a blank disk in my MiST. How do I know the file is untouched? They have the same MD5 after I cop...

Re: [YM2149] Cover tunes
Good music is art. Pink Floyd could be poked into the YM2149 registers from the sheet music, or, a special composition could be created for the YM2149. One song would beep and boop, the other would soar. Check out YM Rockers, there are albums to be heard (Classic YM2149).

Re: Not able to write to blank disks - issue
Hatari may have been improved since v1.7, and one must check the manual for correct operation.
Otherwise FreeBSD may have changed.

Hi, a quick look at the Hatari manual may help to get everyone on the right page. The following link starts with Floppy disk images, but if you keep reading, it goes on to Hatari disk drives etc.

Re: Hatari FreeBSD ACSI hard drives broken
Are you actually using ACSI hardware?
Do you mount the ACSI drive image from a partition on real hard drive?
Or are you simply selecting an ACSI drive image in Hatari?

This is unacceptable. What is causing the denial of service? How much swap is allocated? Does anybody have any other explanation that has a chance of solving the problem?

Re: some questions about YM2149F vs emulators vs MIST
Seriously, I've tested the ym2149 sound from the MiST on the Atari ST and Amstrad CPC cores, and it really rocks. I can't really tell if it sounds exactly like the original, but it seems so. I've made some tests and played with an emulator in one ear, and MiST into an other, and the MiST sound seem...

Old computers and software are extremely valuable, enviable too, but most people purchase Atari's 'power without the price' ST because it is an affordable hobby. $55 is a sweet deal.

The 8 MHz 1 mip and 12 would be 1.5 MIPS? Greetings Correct. MIPS was intended to be quantitative, but is relatively qualitative. If a program appears to be more than 5% faster or slower, then you are probably noticing a real difference. MIPS can be calculated by taking a guess at this point. My de...

You can conveniently purchase electronics parts in North America from Digikey, Mouser, and Newark.

Use your credit card over the phone and have the parts arrive at your door the next day.

Re: .ST image to real floppy with Hatari?
Hatari cannot write to a real floppy.
*** To write a floppy image, try:
"Insert floppy"
setfdprm -c /dev/fd0
setfdprm /dev/fd0 DS DD sect=9
dd if=floppy.st of=/dev/fd0

Re: Floppy to dump
Maybe a you should post an imperfect copy (better than nothing for now), or manually copy whatever files you can to another directory and make a disk with this. I've had disks with bad sectors where no data was stored, and this actually fixed the problem.

Re: Hatari midi compatibility
As far as I know, the centronics interrupt can only be caused by a printer (or some external hardware) that uses the printer busy line. Hatari can emulate a connected printer to capture printer data. Does 'M' use external hardware on the printer port?

Re: some questions about YM2149F vs emulators vs MIST
Hatari emulates the digital and analog aspects of the YM2149 and LMC1992 and all associated circuitry and filters. The LMC1992 is emulated right down to clipping distortion. Note that the YM2149 has a 125KHz top frequency on the Atari, so the Speccy may sound different if it uses a different clock....
