Re: Poll: Did you bought SM124(5) with first Atari?
Yes I bought an SM124 with my first ST. I wasn't a gamer. I needed a machine with a 3.5in floppy to enter code off line for the Vax at uni'; back then we got 3 hours per week "mill time". I had vague plans to get a printer and use it for word processing but life happened. This may sound sad but I lo...

Re: psu.why & how to replace the dreaded capacitors in ATARI
My STE display looks better! I use a Veiwsonic LCD monitor connectd with a ST to VGA adapter and there always has been vertical lines in the desktop display since I did this. They are now GONE! I can only imagine that the poor power condition contributed to some crashing issues I occasionaly experi...

Re: Atari ST emulator Why?
Why? Emulators are amazing in their own right. They are just ace. Clever. Neat. For me their appeal goes beyond just replication of old hardware it is about my admiration of the initiative, knowledge, and drive of those who writes these lovely pieces of code. You haven't lived until you have ran a Z...

Cambridge LISP
Hello!
Does anybody have Cambridge LISP anywhere?
I note the Atarimania site says it is missing.
Not desperate for it just curious.

Re: retired
I remember your last farewell tour (post). I can understand you giving up something negative or something where you have shall we say no real expertise or standing. But as this is the friendliest place on the net servicing a lovely community within the lovely retro-computing family and you...

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
[ If you put it inside of your ST, you could use the power supply cable from the original floppy, although I'm not sure how the old power supply will handle the new load (but you still can change the power supply in case it doesn't handle the new load very well). I guess that from outside most of t...

Re: CosmosEx - new device for your Atari ST
For ACSI connection you will need ACSI cable (the same as for SatanDisk or UltraSatan), this will be included in the package. For floppy connection when using device inside of ST case you don't need anything, just plug out original floppy and plug in CosmosEx, so nothing is needed. That is power to...

Re: Big issue with atari-forum.com
Atari is a term in Go. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Go_terms As such, their request to change the name of this forum is invalid, as long as the term is not used together with the likeness of their brand. You could remove the company logo and they can go to hell... True. To be honest I thoug...

Re: Best looking 8bit computer?
I'm watching one of Terry's updated HD videos of the Atari 400 as I type this. I think I was one of his first six subscribers and always enjoy his reviews :) Went to watch the vid' before replying. Isn't the 400 just the perfect size? I forget how smallish it is. I don't have any problem with membr...

Re: Best looking 8bit computer?
We now have one of those smart TVs so I can watch YouTube sans computer and I have been enjoying all sorts of videos blown up to a huge 42". Today during tea I watched Terry Stewart's review of the 800XL but what caught my eye is a micro I can barely recall the 1200XL. Wow what a good looking box. I...

I note with QLs that there are bidding frenzies for those below £50 while the buy-it-now for about £120-ish just sit there.

I have a Mega with a duff DMA. Neither my US or Syquest drive works. And nor does my external 3.5 drive which I believe is controlled by the same chip. The onboard floppy works just fine.
