Hunter is on PP95 but it doesn't look like Freddie Krueger:

I can't see Freddie Krueger on any Automation menus either.

Re: STOS autorun (when a disk has the STOS folder on it)
I looked back at an old demo I made with STOS 2.5 (Discovery Pack Edition) before I had the STOS Compiler and it worked by having the basic file as AUTO.BAS in the STOS directory. In the AUTO folder there was a program called SUPER.PRG which I definitely didn't write. It looks like a loader for the ...

Re: STOS autorun (when a disk has the STOS folder on it)
The AUTOEXEC.BAS has to be in the root directory not in the STOS directory. Simply copy the AUTOEXEC.BAS into the root and it will work.
You may have to move your icons and resave the DESKTOP.INF so that the correct icon is displayed on the desktop.

Re: STOS autorun (when a disk has the STOS folder on it)
To run the script have an AUTOEXEC.BAS
This could be a duplicated version of STOS\DEMO.BAS -or- the contents of AUTOEXEC.BAS could be:
10 RUN "STOS\DEMO.BAS"

Re: I watch this & instantly respect dml more
Yes respect for DML and anyone that can write DSP code. The Saturn's DSP came out at least 10 years after the Moto 56k, so I expect it is a bit more advanced. There is an earlier video by that guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8plen8cLro The Saturn was a great console but there are some cludges ...

Re: Copyright for SNDH Music? Would this bother anyone?
It has actually bugged me since 1985 that the start of the tune used in Lazy Jones is from an old Hoagy Carmichael song "Lazy Bones" ('Lazy Bones, sleeping on the job, how you going to get your days work done...'). I personally like David Whittaker's music but I think copyright was a bit vague in th...

Zombie Nation also settled out of court when they sampled Lazy Jones by David Whittaker for their song "Kernkraft 400": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kernkraft_400 "Though permission for the sampling was not initially granted, Florian Senfter ("Splank!") paid an undisclosed sum to David Whittaker fo...

Re: Philips CM8833 MK2 small issue - graphics movement
Does the ST do the same if attached to a TV via Scart? That would point to an anomaly with the ST rather than the monitor. Some CBM 1084 monitors (based on the Philips CM8833 MKI) used to have a problems because of insufficient shielding around the speakers. My 1084 monitor used to squawk occasional...

Re: Has anyone extracted Stampede 1 and 2 intros?
:D Fantastic work Zippy! This was a bit out of my league. It works nicely. I think after nearly 30 years it is reasonable to be able to run it without the rest of the magazine and without STX disk format. It must have been compressed a bit if the original was 44k and the cracked version is ...

Re: Has anyone extracted Stampede 1 and 2 intros?
Is the RN internal check immediately before the stuff there from $215e or has it already run already and it just jumps to $215e for the checks? It has already run and it just jumps to $215e for the checks. Sometimes the depack can corrupt if it goes over itself I think that's what's happening. Do y...

Re: Has anyone extracted Stampede 1 and 2 intros?
Thanks for the info Zippy! I tried copying back the Dec0de version back to a copy of the .STX disk image and the ran GC3 on it, but it freezes when reading Track 0 Sector 6. Either that or just remove the internal manually with the usual MOVE.L #KEY,DO then BRA.S to end of the internal code. I thoug...

Re: Has anyone extracted Stampede 1 and 2 intros?
I have basically rewritten the intro using the graphics extracted using the Ultimate Ripper and the massive 5 frame animation using Steem Debugger. I use the Quartet Replayer by Rob Oct 1990. Each frame on the animation is 128 pixels high and is displayed for 8 frames. I have only tested it on Steem...

Re: 5V supply through joystick port?
I'm not an electrician, but I would be a bit sceptical about using the joystick port as a continuous power feed. There is diversity when using a simple joystick which is on or off and sending signals depending on user activity. Could the adapter be drawing too many Amps which could damage the wiring...

Re: Brexit and purchasing
I am also on an Arcade Forum and there was a big discussion about importing from Europe because of Brexit and the change of import duties from the US. The main problem seems to be around VAT and a blanket +20% imposed by eBay. As we are dealing with Vintage Computer parts being sold by private selle...

Re: Has anyone extracted Stampede 1 and 2 intros?
Dec0de doesn't find anything it can remove in INTRO.STU at least. Some of the things on the disk are packed with LSD! packer. All of the first disks were protected by Rob Northern. Maybe the intros have been wrapped using his protection too? It would seem so: Here is an extract of the Steem Debug lo...

Has anyone extracted Stampede 1 and 2 intros?
4-7 have been extracted and 3 is easy to get, but why not 1 and 2? 4-7 are available here: https://demozoo.org/sceners/49333/ Mug UK ripped all the Quartet music and someone else converted them to mods which is great. I know they're not great demos but it might be nice to make a compilation with all...

Re: STeem/Windows 10
To convert my disks I used my ST to create .MSA disk images and wrote them to standard 79 track, 9 sector, 2 sided disks. If a disk was 820k (82 tracks, 10 sectors, 2 sides) I would do side 0 to 420k, side 1 to 420k then copy them to the PC one at a time. I then joined the 2 .MSA disk images to one ...

I take it a .CPX is an accessory for TT/MegaSTE? Is there a .RSC file for the titles? A better way would be to have a language pack string and select the resource file depending on the selected language. Re: MDP 30FD drive belt replacement
Hi Tom, Yes it seems they used single sided drives until late 1987. Double sided long button drives by at least April 1988. STFM Power Pack, Discovery Pack and various retailer bundles came out with the STFM (Orange and Green lights) around September 1988. Those were direct drive and not belt driven...

Re: MDP 30FD drive belt replacement
I have cleaned the drive heads with Cotton Buds and removed dirt and dust from the platter and eject mechanism, but no luck. It'll only read single sided disks. Connecting an external double sided drive works and I can scan double sided disks on that using Fast Copy 3 without errors so I think that ...

If anyone is interested I bought the replacement drive belt from Cool Novelties. I tried to make the belt into a perfect circle to estimate its circumference. I don't know if this helps but there is a relationship between the FDC Controller and the sound chip. https://info-coach.fr/atari/documents/_mydoc/FD-HD_Programming.pdf On page 4: The last schematics on the left shows the connection of the PSG (sound chip) to the low asserted DRIVE0*, DRIVE1*, SIDE0...
