Re: Can't find Spellbound Dizzy anywhere!

It's available on D-Bug Menu 41B. Officially missing: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-st-spellbound-dizzy_11326.html All Code Masters games are Distribution Denied on World Of Spectrum and for good reason. Code Masters still exist and are still a bit strong on copyright, even on the lowly Spect...

Sounds like the Birdie Nam Nam demo from the Budbrain Demo on the Amiga:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd4wBnt19Tg
Did someone convert it to the ST?

Yes, NPG Megademo as you say converted as We Wanna Eggs:

Re: Atari STE: Drive A: diplays files with cryptic extensions

It would be handy to test this STE with a known working TOS ROM, and get a dump of that one to see what is wrong with it.

That is a brilliant idea! It's hard to believe in this day of 32Gb memory sticks actually on an ST a 32Mb partition would be very useful.

Re: Atari STE: Drive A: diplays files with cryptic extensions

I think an upgraded TOS is fine. TOS 1.62 fixes a few bugs, notably the ability to boot in medium res with the standard setting in DESKTOP.INF As stormzy said there might be defective resistors somewhere, that could be difficult to trace or problems with the WD1772 chip. Do you have a volt meter? Co...

Re: Atari STE: Drive A: diplays files with cryptic extensions

Yes if you have one or if you can borrow one connect an external drive with the external disk drive connector on the back of the STE. Boot the machine with a formatted floppy disk in drive A: and another disk in drive B: and see if you can see the filename extensions on DRIVE B: The DMA chip will ei...

Re: Atari STE: Drive A: diplays files with cryptic extensions

Which version of TOS and which DMA chip does this machine have? Can you connect a Drive B: and see if that works normally? If it does could you dump your version of TOS to disk, and file compare it with a known working good version of TOS for your language. I'm not a fan of these mods. Although ther...

Can you run programs from GEM? If you can try to run Fast Copy 3 and use its directory listing to see if it also shows corrupt filename extensions.

Re: any one use both Atari and Amiga

I got my first ST in May 1990 and upgraded to an STE in September 1991. I got an A500 in 1992 for games and demos and an A1200 in 1994. I used the Amiga for games, demos and even upgraded it to use an A570 CD ROM. My A1200 was very cheap because I got it when Clydesdale were closing their shops. I e...

Re: Interest check: Atari 4160ST badges

Does it cost a lot to make the first one or is it much more expensive to make variations? It would be nice to have the model on the badge like STf, STe or STFfm like the originals. How many memory configurations were there? 130, 260, 520, 1040 and 4160 Atari never made 2080 (2Mb) and 2600 (2.5Mb) ba...

Re: Help with ripping music from ST demos / games

I have written a basic guide on how to rip and replay Mad Max, David Whittaker, Jas C. Brooke and Rob Hubbard formats: http://www.lynn3686.com/musicrip.html I had some fun ripping Pac-Land today. I never saw the Fuzion/Positivity mega-ripper. Other formats I should consider are: Count Zero, Big Alec...

I have never seen this game before but I have just tested it on STeem 3.2 (1Mb, Monochrome, STF) with TOS 1.0 (English) and it runs fine.
Are you using the German Language version of TOS 1.0? Maybe try the English Language version of TOS 1.0.

_vbl_list $4CE.L to $4EA.L

I have disassembled Mewilo.PRG using Easy Rider 4 from the German version to avoid copy protection: https://www.myabandonware.com/game/mewilo-6w3#Atari ST The loader kicks off about label L01BD: It uses the file extension declared here: L01C3:DC.B '.tot' I don't know if that's useful. Re: Power Computing Blitz Turbo (and the PC720B external drive)

Great interview! At Uni my mate had an ST with a single-sided floppy drive internally. It had a boot switch (probably made by Power Computing) so it could boot from the external drive as if it was drive A: They sold for about £5 so must have been really cheap to make. The PC720B always seemed like a...

Re: New Atari Mega style case for STF / STFM / STE and Falcon, Maybe

Very interesting. I really like the look of the original MegaST case. With an STFM\STE motherboard what kind of cable would go from the motherboard to the external keyboard? Would you include blanking covers for the spare FDD and CD drive port? I personally would like a case with a space for one sho...

In some Amiga demos they have a feature to turn on/off the low-pass filter. He could have done that and turned it off by default. There is the Ultimate Ripper cartridge which can extract Mad Max and Quartet music, and graphics but not so useful for extracting executable code. Y...
