Re: m68k-atari-mint cross-tools: Vincent's vs Thorsten's build

For EmuTOS, still gcc 4.6.4 is used, because it produces slightly smaller code. Exactly. GCC 4.6.4 is enough for my own needs. I tried other versions starting from GCC 4.7, but there was trouble for compiling FreeMiNT (now fixed). And as Thorsten said, newer versions still produce bigger code than ...

Re: Spectre GCR variable floppy speed

Therefore, reading is easy: The software can issue a command to the WD1772 and then the cartridge can just snoop on the "read data" line. Ah! So the ST internal drive stays at fixed speed, then the cartridge is able to handle variable bitrates. That makes sense. I dumbly thought that the Spectre GC...

Re: Spectre GCR variable floppy speed

There is no magic :) Spectre GCR doesn't use the internal ST's FDC. It uses its own hardware decoder inside the cartridge. OK, that makes sense. But what puzzles me is the fact that such thing is possible with the ST internal drive. The ST FDC is inside. It is connected to the internal drive, and t...

Spectre GCR variable floppy speed

Hi, and sorry if this question has already been asked. The Spectre CGR (Macintosh emulator for ST) is able to read/write 800 KB variable-speed Mac floppy disks using the standard ST internal floppy drive. This is achieved with a cable between the Spectre GCR cartridge and the ST external floppy conn...

Remember that when using GEM=ROM in MINT.CNF you must comment out any INIT= line. Both are mutually exclusive.

Hey dml, you are making an amazing job with Atari Game Tools! This is precisely what I had in mind when I started working on the m68k-atari-mint cross-tools for Cygwin. Unfortunately, due to lack of time, I never continued that way. But now, you make my dreams become reality :D BTW, the Metal Slug d...

Amiga joysticks have been supported through the IKBD vectors since EmuTOS 0.9.8. This can be used with PmDoom for example, official unpatched Atari binary. However, PmDoom requires the fVDI video driver.

Re: Coldfire V5

What could happen if I drop that processor in a Firebee? Do I really risk damaging the Firebee? Ahem. Are you comfortable with BGA soldering? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_grid_array You would need to unsolder the MCF5474 and solder the V5 instead. While we have no clue if it is pin-to-pin com...

Re: Coldfire V5

I dismantled an old HP Color LaserJet CP2025 Printer, knowing that it had a "540 MHz Motorola Coldfire V5x" according to HP specs. Please see attached photos. Do you think it's the chip shown? It's 29mm wide and its base is 35mm wide. I also had similar HP printer near me, but I wasn't brave enough...

Special Kudos to Roger Burrows for bringing EmuTOS to version 1.0 :D And also to all other developers and contributors. This is the culmination of all the hard work of many people over 2 decades. EmuTOS is now mature, equivalent to TOS 1/2/3 and much more. Be sure this is not the end, but a new begi...

Excellent video.. Thansk  I am now questing to find an ST emulator that fills a widescreen with a correct aspect ratio ST image (with/without borders) WITHOUT stretching so the pixels get blurred. On Amiga, WinUAE has a "null filter" and scales with whole integers so no blurriness. The new...
