Re: Atari ST related Kickstarter projects

Again not strictly Atari related but might be interesting for chip music lovers (those who loved The Big Demo). Chris Abbott of C64Audio is running a KickStarter to fund a CD box with C64 remixes in symphonic style called: Back in Time - Symphonic Collection.

Re: Atari ST related Kickstarter projects

i think it is probably because much of his music is conversions of mostly arcade game music. I agree, the music of those arcade tunes he did lack the recognisable melody line like the tunes of Rob Hubbard, David Whitaker or Jeroen Tel had. I can still hum a lot of their tunes but none of Dave excep...

Re: Atari ST related Kickstarter projects

The KickStarter of Uncle Art failed with only a few dollars short. So they now try it again. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/124468523/uncle-art-a-temporal-shift I don't know if aiming at the same goal is a smart move (most of the retried KickStarter I've seen got less money the second time and...

Re: Atari ST related Kickstarter projects

The Sidology KickStarter is over but since it was funded, the CD box can now be pre-ordered from www.sidologie.com.
Items bought there still count for the stretch goals so the Sanxion stretch goal track can still be funded.

Re: Atari ST related Kickstarter projects

Another KickStarter music project is Sidologie from Marcel Donne. It will be a 6 CD box with C64 SID tunes in Jarre and Vangelis style. Not strictly a ST KickStarter but related to Atari ST in the sense that a lot of the featured tunes are known from the Atari ST demo scene (Big Demo, Union Demo, et...

Re: Hatari on tablet device

@rdemming Have you tried long pressing (holding down) the apps button (the left button). Samsung has hooked that up to the "hardware" menu button which is why you don't see the software menu button. Thanks, that did the trick. A long press on the physical "recent apps" button is indeed a physical "...

Re: Hatari on tablet device

I'm eager to try Hataroid on my Galaxy TabPro. I copied the TOS rom and the emulator boots to the green desktop. But now I want to mount a floppy but I can't find how to get to a menu to do that. There are no on screen buttons that pops up a menu and the pysiscal back button wants to quit Hataroid. ...

The Great Giana Sisters - 2.5D PC remake announced

One of the best (IMHO) games on the Atari ST, "The Great Giana Sisters", is about to come back on the PC. There is a KickStarter project by former members of the now defunct "Spellbound Entertainment" (known for GianaSisters DS and founded by Armin Gessert, the creator of Giana Sisters on the C64) t...

Turrican Soundtrack Fans Unite!

Hi, Chris Huelsbeck, the composor of the music of the Turrican series is planning to create the "Turrican Soundtrack Anthology", a limited edition tripple CD containing new versions of many many Turrican tunes. Some tunes will be recorded using a real orchestra. To make it a reality he needs funding...

KryoFlux just released the IPF decoding library under the MAME license. Hopefully this makes it easier to add IPF support to the Atari ST emulators.

Re: Pirates! (1987) - The Gold Bug at around 655000 pieces

Sorry, I read it too fast  Good that we agree :D So it involves quite a bit more than just adding to bytes and do 32 bit calculations instead. Heh, that's what I meant by: Hard to see that bug being easily fixed The fact that you can't just turn 2 bytes into 4 in the assembled program was impl...

Re: Pirates! (1987) - The Gold Bug at around 655000 pieces

Hard to see that bug being easily fixed, since you'd basically need to add another 2 bytes onto it and do 32-bit calculations instead. :( Sounds easy, but you can't just add two bytes to it on the same address because that probably overwrites other data. So you need to relocate it to a new address ...

Re: UltraSatan -- accepting payments

Today my bank phoned me because they discovered a fraud on my account. This happened one day after I created an account at MoneyBookers. As I rarely use my visa card online, I'm almost sure there is a security flaw in their web site (somebody in UK stole me about 510 euros, moreover MoneyBookers is...

Re: UltraSatan -- accepting payments

Wow, I didn't knew picking up the money is such a hassle. I thought it was just filling in a form and showing your ID. That you has to wait 25 minutes for a system confirmation is ridiculous in this time of fast networks. Maybe it is so cumbersome because you picked it up at a bank instead of a "non...

Re: What is "sync scrolling"?

Who raised the issue of this game not working under emulation? What else he mentioned and what else he talked about? It was rdemming, and he talked all the time about zero-bytes lines. Furthermore, he mentioned this technique used for vertical scrolling. Wasn't that such a huge hint? I didn't know ...

Huh, I have no idea, I've never used it ;-) From their website I've got a feeling my address should be enough, it even seemed they could transfer it directly to my bank account what would be fantastic (no need to go personally to their "agents". As I say, I'll send an email about it tomorrow. Slova...

Re: UltraSatan -- accepting payments

So, what options are left? Maybe, just MAYBE, it will work when you connect MB account to bank account (honestly -- I doubt it). If it doesn't help, I can do nothing then :/ You must use direct bank transfer (yes, with all that horrible fees) or to make some group payment. Any ideas? How about an i...

Re: What is "sync scrolling"?

Yes, it's a 0 byte line, but it's done by switching to hi/lo at cycle 500/508 (end of previous line). Cycle 508 is a very particular position in STF, as this is already the limit where you must switch 60/50 to remove top/bottom border. So, I would say it's a 3rd way to get a 0 byte line (other 2 me...

Re: What is "sync scrolling"?

So you mean it uses 0-byte lines for hardware scrolling? Does it use a new technique or uses it the already known 70-50 or 60-50 switch methods but was the emulation confused because of the unnecessary switches around it? Before Hatari & SaintT supported 0-bytes lines I suspected No Buddies land was...

Re: Re:

But, IMHO, your technique is not fully "kosher". You are altering sync, and this should be avoided. I think it is ok every trick "inside" the computer", but the sync signals should never be messed with. Otherwise you depend on the specific monitor/tv. Your screen probably works with most (perhaps a...
