Re: PC Engine core

Because of the nature of the differences shown in the various videos, they appear to be adjusted/recompiled versions of the PC Engine ROMs (or extractions from CDROM).

But I haven't heard of any actual extractions/leaks yet, so we can't be certain until this happens.

They're in stock at LCSC.com (a choice of 5 different part numbers in that package size).
I have found them to be a good source for certain types of parts (such as connectors, resistor arrays, and Chinese chips).

何れにしても、USBコンソールを端末に接続すると、デバッグ情報を見たほうがいいと思います。
In any case, you can use the USB to display console output to a terminal, so you can watch the output for some debug information.

Re: Newbie questions

The 2K file appears to be sent by GitHub when it thinks there is abusive downloads happening. This is likely more common on an initial download when fetching everything, rather than an update, when there are fewer updates happening. Perhaps the updater script should be able to recognize this 2K file...

They I/O lines are brought to a connector on the standard I/O board, called the "User Port".
While it uses a 9-pin USB connector for convenience, it is *NOT* USB.

I just submitted a pull request to fix the sprites on GitHub issues: #66 Kato & Ken #67 Boxyboy #68 Madou King Granzort This won't fix the "final line jittering" issue on several games; that will need CPU->VDC access-slot/wait state timing improvements. I know srg320's updated core will include thos...

Re: Joystick testing thread

99% of games read the joypad value at the time of VBLANK. This isn't necessarily the same thing as VSYNC, as most video controllers from that era assert VBLANK after the last scanline has been drawn, but often quite a bit before VSYNC occurs. And this varies by game, or even within the same game, ba...

Re: Original analog video without I/O board? Possible!

A second approach - since the act of changing cores creates a situation where the FPGA is not controlling the HDMI output, and that leads the combination of dongle + monitor to misbehave, it seems to me that an alternate solution would be to turn off the MiSTer when switching cores. Do you have the ...

While I don't discount your explanation, that would imply that the Core Grafx and TurboGrafx minis would also ship with non-turbo joypads (which is not the configuration they were originally sold with). We'll see when they officially launch at the end of April. Well... if they launch at the end of A...

Re: PC Engine core

On an original controller, rapid fire is a function of how often the controller is scanned (a flip-flop toggles for each scan). The turbo-mode controllers on the PC Engine mini - according to a Japanese blog I read - is based on a fixed time interval, although it still has 2 speed settings. Accordin...

For things like resistors/resistor networks, and connectors, you should check out LCSC.com.
You won't find all the parts at any one store, but they tend to complement each other.

Re: DB9 Vs USB game control tests

I see that TurboGrafx is on that list, but if you are using the user port (open-collector), the rise time is too slow with 10K ohm pull-up resistors: This means that there will be problems with 6-button joysticks, multi-taps, mouse, and pachinko controllers. In short, anything other than a single 2-...

Re: PC Engine core

Am I right to assume Srg320 has implemented his own TG-16 CPU and VDP from scratch? From what I can see, he has made dramatic changes to the VDC (but started from the existing one). And he may have replaced the CPU (or dramatically rewrote it). I wasn't aware that it had big enough problems to make...
