Re: Arcade cores not loading

Sorry if this is a noob question, but I'm having an issue with running arcade cores on a newly built SD card. I upgraded from a 128 to a 256GB card and built it using the standard updating tools that I've always used. Console and computer cores work fine. I've tried running the latest offical updat...

Re: Can I "split" inputs for a defined controller?

Official workaround for joysticks with 1-2 buttons: use joystick emulation on keyboard. Keyboard can be overlaid on P1 and P2. So you use joystick for most used function while missing keys you can press on keyboard (by switching it to joystick emulation). Also new class of input devices has been in...

Re: Can I "split" inputs for a defined controller?

I believe two units of the official adapter will do it: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Retro-Controllers-USB-MiSTer IIRC, it must be changed so it has a serial number so MiSTer can merge them both when connected. In one of them you can plug in the Atari 2600 controller and, in the other, a six but...

Re: Can I "split" inputs for a defined controller?

A multi old controllers to USB adapter would fit your use case, provided they keep the same USB VID:PID regardless of the controller plugged in as input. So you could use two adapters with different input controllers and use the buttons from the controller that gives you more button options. Edit: ...

Can I "split" inputs for a defined controller?

Hi, everyone. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to divide buttons between two different input sources for one "controller" as defined by MiSTer. My specific use case: I really like using original controllers for the various MiSTer cores, but the Atari 2600 controller needs a reset and game ...

Neo Geo "bad contact" error message

Trying to run Neo Geo games recently and none of them seem to work. A few just put me into a diagnostic mode, and several report "Exception Error Handling" and say there is "bad contact between game and Neo Geo." Am I using a bad rom batch? I thought I was using the right one, but I may have screwed...

Re: A Couple of (probably dumb) questions

So, just to circle back around on this, it appears that the "Enhanced Experience" 4-way controller modification is actually *not* a part of mainline MiSTer at this point, if my deeper Google dive into the subject is accurate. Thanks for the answers on the other questions. It was very helpful, and I ...

A Couple of (probably dumb) questions

OK. I have *almost* everything working as expected, but there are a couple of things that are just head scratchers for me. Question #1: 1942 and 1943 -- I have roms for them and there are cores for them, but for some reason the updater isn't creating .mra files, so I can't use them? Question #1a: Pr...

Re: Mac Plus help?

This is really helpful! Thanks for the advice! One other question... several of the games I tried (Apache Strike and Ancient Art of War come to mind specifically) had graphical anomalies that definitely weren't present in the original games. Is the Mac Plus core considered to be accurate, or does it...

Re: Arcade ROM Builder & Injector GUI

First of all, thank you so much for this tool! It has simplified things so much! I'm using a merged MAME set, though, and there are placed where things don't seem to line up correctly. In particular, it won't create a rom for Galaga, because I don't have the galagamw file, even though (presumably) w...

Mac Plus help?

Started messing around with the Mac core, and it is a very fun blast-from-the-past for me so far. One thing I'm trying to figure out is how to get .img files (or files that only exist as .sit files or in folders with no .anything on the individual files) into a mountable form -- either getting them ...

Re: Slow system settings menu

Ah. OK. That could be. It's the Blisster board, which I know you have some philosophical issues with. :) I'll ask on their Discord and see if there are solutions I haven't tried yet.

Thanks!!

Re: Slow system settings menu

Additional information: I tried changing the USB port I was using for the keyboard and I changed the controller I had connected (to a wired Xbox 360 controller). After suffering through the slow menu to get to the screen where I could define the Xbox 360 controller, I disconnected the keyboard. All ...

Re: Slow system settings menu

I haven't tried either of those things, so that's the next thing I'll do! It seems weird that it would be confined to that one menu if it were a USB issue, though...

Thanks for the suggestions!

Slow system settings menu

Hi, everyone. I have a weird issue for which my weak Google-fu hasn't found an answer. The MiSTer menu for selecting cores works fine, as do the cores themselves, but the system settings menu (Alt-F12) is REALLY slow and laggy. It regularly drops inputs from the keyboard or controller, takes whole s...
