Re: Newbie questions

Good morning! I'm having a hell of a time getting any of the arcade roms to run since the change to the MRA backend. I ran the updater script this morning so I have all the latest updates. I have a zipped, merged, mame 0.217 romset in: _Arcade/mame. I could not find a guide other than this one: htt...

Re: PC Engine core

Hi chaps, New user here. I am super enjoying the MISTer FPGA project! My apologies as I appreciate my question has been already raised in the past but I couldn't find an actual solution. I can't get my favourite game, Blazing Lazers, to work. Just a black screen. Any advice will be very much apprec...

Re: MISTer with RISC-V

Why is it better than the 060? The 68040 is not better than the 68060, but beside its superscalare configuration the 060 doesn't offer much advance from the 040, and being late in the game with the rise of RISC processor like the PowerPC, the 68060 never was a big players. Ah, okay, I was just wond...

040 is the best CPU Motorola produced. Why is it better than the 060? Re: Newbie questions

Quick question, is my 5v, 8a Power supply overkill? The only other one I have came with the Nano and thats a US plug 5v, 2a. I mean the DE10 will only draw the Amps it needs right?;) Correct, it is no issue. Your PSU just has a very generous reserve in power it can provide. You are using a quality ...

Re: Mister on Sony PVM Doom and Resolution question

As Sorgelig said himself, the analog output is not standardized over all core. I don't thinks the Linux Framebuffer stuffs like Doom and ScummVM plays well with the analog output, but I haven't try myself.

Re: Newbie questions

From my experience uneven framerates or tearing in an emulation are the result of weak hardware and/or bad configuration. On a Windows PC from the last 10 years the emulation should be not different on visual level then on any FPGA. Agree! I know the way I presented my arguments was as if software ...

Re: Newbie questions

The thing that broke emulation for me (on retropie, anyway) was being constantly taken away from the gaming experience once I was in a game. Often I was reminded that I was indeed playing on an emulated system. My favourite way of playing games in the 32 bit era has been with FPGA optical drive emu...

Hi everybody, for a long time I wishes for easily cycling the background menu image picked at random from an images collection folder. Re: Newbie questions

I am new to Mister and can't wait to get started. A couple of questions: How is it compared to say an ODROID XU4 (which I've just sold towards MISTer) I'm particularly interested in NeoGeo and Megadrive (Genesis) emulation. I was never happy with the whole emulation station retro pie setup. Too muc...

Re: Newbie questions

I've got some instability issue on my MisTer setup, sometime when I load a core or switch rom on an already loaded core the screen glitches with flashes and weird visual corruption.

Does I'm the only one? I suspect some power issues and/or my TV being lazy to sync when switching frequency.

So just got around to setting up my mister with the 128mb board installed but it does not show up on the boot screen. the chip symbol at the top is empty as if there is no ram installed it should be a solid chip symbol like on the lon.tv video i watched but its hollow and looks the same with or wit...

Re: why I can't change the background using F1 anymore?

I don't want to open a new thread so I will take the opportunity to ask another question about the KB. When staring MISTer the OSD is displayed, pressing F12 brings the OSD to MISTer Settings. After running any core how do you reach this settings screen again? I tried WIN+F12, Alt+F12, Shift+F12 an...

I'm running all the latest updates. but I can't change background using F1 key anymore. It's stuck on the "static" background. I even reformated the SD card and started from scratch (for a different reason;bigger SD card) but still can't change the background using the F1 key.it just doesn't do anyt...

Re: Mac Plus help?

on linux you can instal hfsutils and get hmount hls hcopy etc. You can mount the mac hard drive on linux and copy files, especially binhex files over with this tool. It should run on the mister itself if we compile it. Thanks .. but right now I would just love for the core to have an option to save...

Re: Power Supply - Will this work?

Get a powered HUB with a Y power cable, the De10-nano powered USB port is very weak, even if you got a bigger power supply, it won’t pass the additional power thru the USB port. I have explained myself poorly... the cable I have is the one you have posted... (USB on one end and jack on the other en...

Re: Power Supply - Will this work?

DON'T PLUG! your new power adapter, it will fry your DE10-Nano in seconds since your power adapter output rating is 19volts! Any thing above 5 volts will not work and risk damaging your MiSTer. As for the current, anything above 2Amps at 5volts will work fine. Some people as successfully use a USB ...
