Re: MiSTer NES Core

Any chance of save states being added to this core or hardware created to allow real cartridges to be used?

Ahhh, yeah that looks perfect. Too bad the seller is backlogged and isn't selling for the next week. I'll definitely check with them though. Thanks!

Possible to connect MiSTer to SCART switch? (re: gScartSW)

Has anybody tried to connect the MiSTer to a SCART (gScartSW) switch? It seems possible if I can find a DB15 (male) to SCART (male) cable... (which I can't seem to find) EDIT: Sorry, I should have searched first. I do see some links to stores (Lotharek's Lair in Poland and AMedia Computer in Europe)...

Re: GBA Core porting to Mister

Wow... Rewind + save states + FPGA accuracy? This core is amazing!

I hope similar enhancements could be made to the other 8 and 16-bit cores (NES/SMS/SNES/Genesis).

Re: NeoGeo topic

Does anybody know if the UniBios v4 works OK with this core? I've purchased v4 from Razoola last year for my MVS-1C. I've also sent him an e-mail asking if it's OK to use this on MiSTer or he requires me to purchase a second license. Also, does anybody know the difference between Darksoft set and th...

Re: ao486 Performance Technical Discussion

I wanted to say thank you SO MUCH for working on improving the ao486 core. This is by far the core I'm most excited and hopefully about! I've thought about building a "retro" 386 or 486 machine for DOS gaming but I'd much rather have an FPGA solution. Again, thank you very much and I'm sure there ar...

Re: MiSTer frontend future

That Game Music Player concept looks fantastic!

I was just asking last week about a MiSTer VGM player. MiSTer seems like the perfect platform for playing VGM/NSF/whatever files using accurate sound chips!

I really, really hope that somebody works on this!

Re: Playing NSF/VGM music on FPGA/MiSTer? (re: sound chips, YM2151, OPL, etc)

Yeah, I don't know the details and I'm sure it's very difficult but hopefully with some of the work already completed (ie. the audio cores) that somebody will try to implement a player? Is it possible to use the Linux side of the MiSTer to decode/parse the VGM files and then send them to the FPGA au...

Playing NSF/VGM music on FPGA/MiSTer? (re: sound chips, YM2151, OPL, etc)

I'm still researching this topic but it looks like there is a format called VGM (Video Game Music) which are recordings of the actual data sent to the original sound chips in arcade/console games. If you have a device with an original sound chip (ie. TexElec SAAYM or TexElec OPL3 /Adlib card), then ...

Re: SDRAM board

I've just tested mine and I'm getting about 1 or 2 errors every 60 minutes at 150 MHz. However, 140 MHz is working fine (90+ minutes and no errors) and as mentioned it sounds like that's all that needed? After memtest, you need to test latest Minimig and Archie. OK - Will do. Do I just need to open...

Re: SDRAM board

Got the parts and soldered a 128MB SDRAM card. I used Sorgeligs capacitor configuration (shown below) and it seems to work fine (stable @150MHz). Re: SDRAM board

Thanks for the advice.

I'm using a Hakko FX-888D at 600F degrees and a J-shape tip.

I'm also using Kester 959T no-clean flux but I do have rosin flux I can try.

I'm always afraid of no using enough solder so perhaps I just need to use a little less as well as trying to the folder paper trick?

Re: SDRAM board

Does anybody have any advice for soldering the memory module flat against the SDRAM board? I've tried placing the 40 pin header on the board, and then flush cutting the pins before soldering. Then I soldered the pins on the backside of the board. However, even my tiny solder blobs were too thick to ...

@Sorgelig, I'm sorry for asking so many questions, but what is the correct LVC1G04 part from DigiKey? I'm assuming this component is requ...

Re: SDRAM board

What 10uF caps do you guys recommend?

It looks like the Kemet 10uF (0805) caps are only rated to 10V? I'm guessing they should be fine because the SDRAM only runs around 3.3v (?)

Re: SDRAM board

I'm sorry but I'm still a bit confused with the SDRAM.

What's the largest memory module for the single-chip (SDRAM XS v2.2) board?

Do you need to use the SDRAM XSD (v2.4) for 128 MB?

Re: SDRAM board

EDIT: Nevermind. I've went ahead and purchased boards from JLCPCB (both XS and XS-D).

What are the recommended modules for 128 MB? Do you need the XS-D board for 64+64 MB for 128 MB or are there single modules that work on the XS board for 128 MB?
