Re: Genesis Core

As for Pier Solar on Genesis, I agree that there should be a way to play the game with the audio from the CD, as the original Sega CD/Genesis systems allow that.

Re: NeoGeo topic

I'm curious to see how those "faulty" RAM (and also "non-faulty" ones) behave on SNES core with these two specific games: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/SNES_MiSTer/issues/204 and https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/SNES_MiSTer/issues/202 PS.: if this is considered off-topic, moderator, please feel fr...

Re: NeoGeo topic

Is it only random patterns used by memtest? Is that possible to use those well known byte patterns used by memory test programs on PC as well?

Re: Atari 2600

Is changing the ROM file extension the only way to set the mapper? Allowing the user to choose the mapper from the OSD menu before loading the ROM would be great too.

Re: Can I "split" inputs for a defined controller?

I believe two units of the official adapter will do it: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Retro-Controllers-USB-MiSTer IIRC, it must be changed so it has a serial number so MiSTer can merge them both when connected. In one of them you can plug in the Atari 2600 controller and, in the other, a six butt...

Re: Can I "split" inputs for a defined controller?

A multi old controllers to USB adapter would fit your use case, provided they keep the same USB VID:PID regardless of the controller plugged in as input. So you could use two adapters with different input controllers and use the buttons from the controller that gives you more button options. Edit: I...

Re: Original analog video without I/O board? Possible!

Anyone has a link from AliExpress for a confirmed working adapter? Ugreen official store is dubious since they show pictures of the adapter using an unsupported chip.

Re: SNES core

In my case, the latest working version of the core is 20190204.

I've made a video of what's happening, if that helps:

https://youtu.be/1UKeg4RS0Hk

It's a very low quality video, but it should give an idea of what's going on here.

Re: SNES core

memtest running for one hour gets no errors at 140Mhz on both of my RAM modules (32 and 128).

Edit: make sure you keep the intro rolling up to the end if you ate checking this on FF3

I've just tried it and I've got graphics corruption on FF3 intro when using a 128MB RAM module. It doesn't happen with another 32MB RAM module I've here though.

It's actually great to see the TG16/PCE MiSTer core put under tests like this! It could give us a hint that people might be truly expecting good things from it. Hope to see this already great core getting improvements soon!

Re: MegaCD (SegaCD) Core

This is awesome stuff! Thanks to srg320 and Sorgelig for this early Christmas present! :) One question: are there plans (if technically possible) to add cartridge roms loading capabilities to the MegaCD core? I believe that merging both cores capabilities will make bug fixing easier in the long run?...

8bitdo M30 2.4g version via USB cable is the big winner so far!

Re: Joystick mapping revamp?

Sorgelig, just one minor thing about "A,B,X,Y,Start,Select,LT,RT", I would name them "A,B,X,Y,Start,Select, LB,RB ". LT and RT are usually known as analog triggers and should map to something like L2 and R2 on a PS3 pad or LT and RT on a X360 controller. LB and RB are digital buttons on a X360 contr...

Thanks, Newsdee! The physical location diagram will be a good reference when it's complete with other system's controllers mappings (NES, SMS, etc...). Sorg, I think he means what's described in the diagram on how SNES buttons map to other joysticks, without any kind of detection (aside of the initi...

Re: Joystick mapping revamp?

I really LOVE the idea of a Virtual Gamepad for MiSTer! My two cents is that the Virtual Gamepad be something based on XInput than SNES pad, so this gets more future-proof. Aside of additinal buttons being available for current and future cores, we get a home button too! 8) typedef struct { uint8_t ...
