Re: Atari 2600

Honestly I'm not sure about that particular RGB mod but the Mister knocks mine into a cocked hat! It has a noiseless signal as far as I can tell tbh, it's going from the Mister IO board to an Extron 160-xi and hence to my Sony TV, looks superb whereas my Atari has some noise and ghosting, although a...

Re: Atari 2600

I have the same problem with only this core as well. Shame I don't have the rare extron 203rxi which would solve it. It does this on two different crt tvs though so maybe something can be adjusted in the core just to bring it up a little? It's probably an annoying thing to be asked for if you're a d...

Marauder66 wrote:Click the download all option, you'll get them as individual .xex files
I tried the download all but I just get a zip containing all the disks as ATR files.
It has a Games.txt file though which is handy.

Re: Atari 800 - Bounty Bob (No in-game sound)

If you don't get any working on the XL bios you could try holding F8 when resetting with F10, this disables basic which I think most games require. Ah, thanks for the info, as the core has the options XL and XL+Basic, I always thought the basic is disabled by default when using the XL option. Yeah ...

Re: Atari 800 - Bounty Bob (No in-game sound)

Ha you're right - it must have been the rom version, I just redownloaded the homesoft disk 0049 and it worked fine. I didn't even think of them being out of date, they always worked on my real atari with the lotharek device. Anyway, good call and thanks for the replies :) I remember extracting the i...

Re: Atari 800 - Bounty Bob (No in-game sound)

That's even stranger.. I have what I believe to be the homesoft collection, with bounty bob being on disk0049 - the menu on the disks always says 'Spiele ' (meaning Games) so not sure if it's a different collection. With 1MB and no basic the game doesn't even load, just a black screen after it says ...

Re: Atari 800 - Bounty Bob (No in-game sound)

I've got two roms that work on the XL bios, out of about 12, I'm not entirely sure why that should be the case but it is (they're a mix of xex and atr format). So no sound in-game, the only sound I get is the birds flapping with the letters on the title screen, but the little ping when they place th...

Atari 800 - Bounty Bob (No in-game sound)

Hi all, For some reason Bounty Bob Strikes Back has no in-game sound on the atari 800 core. I have lots of different Rom dumps of it and all the ones that work exhibit the same issue. I had to remind myself that it did actually have in-game sound so I tried it with my cartridge version in a real mac...

Re: Newbie questions

Yes it definitely helps to look at github, I'll be sure to read everything in future :) However for SMS I had the same problem as BonzoBits, the rbf file was only 2k so I downloaded the correct one and now it works fine. And it seems the same for the arcade cores too - looks like the updater has an ...

Re: Newbie questions

Strange though that lots of cores work fine.. a list of those that do includes: minimig, c64, atari800, genesis, megacd, neogeo, snes as well as some arcade cores like tiger road and gng. You'd think a hardware issue would cause all cores to fail at some point but these work great. Although I agree ...

Re: Newbie questions

Hmm even stranger then.
I honestly can't understand why it won't work.
It crashes the mister and that's it.
I'd suspect ram or the sd if most other things didn't work.
Although a large proportion of the arcade cores also exhibit this behaviour too.

Re: Newbie questions

By root do you mean the "fat" folder or "sms"?
Also what did you actually call the file? I've tried a few variations like sms.rom, sms.bios etc. but none seem to work - I can't get to the control menu as it crashes the mister completely.
I'm using the US-European bios v3.4.

Thanks.

Re: Newbie questions

I've got the spectrum to work now :)
For reference I put the bios in the fat folder and called it spectrum.rom.
But the SMS still won't work, I've tried it in the root folder and the SMS folder with every name variation I can think of.

Is there a particular filename and location to use?

Thanks.

Re: Newbie questions

The spectrum has a bios? Does the SMS also have one then? That would probably explain everything although I don't recall having to load a bios for the C64 or Atari 800. I've got real hardware for all of these machines but I appreciate the clean video output of the Mister. I'll have a look around any...

Some cores just crash the mister, others don't work

Hi all, This is probably something dumb but there are certain cores that not only don't work but they crash the mister - as in the button to reset to the boot menu doesn't work and video output stops. The SMS and Amstrad cores both do this, but the spectrum core also doesn't work, it shows a black s...

Re: I think my IO Board/DE-10 is broken!

Well phew! is all I can say, turns out it was a corrupt binary - I copied over the main mister core again and it all works again now :)

Re: I think my IO Board/DE-10 is broken!

Yeah maybe you're right - if the board was dead I'm guessing the fan wouldn't power up.
I'll try rewriting the mister binary when I get in later and hopefully that will do something.

Thanks again :)

Re: I think my IO Board/DE-10 is broken!

Yeah I've tried removing and re-inserting the main SD Card and the IO SD Card, no luck unfortunately. It's strange that the fan spins and the mister seems to be active, but no LEDs and no output on VGA (or HDMI seemingly). Thanks for the suggestion anyway. Did your LEDs show nothing then in your cas...

I think my IO Board/DE-10 is broken!

Hi all, I was happily playing my mister this morning and (having a 4 port usb hub installed in the case) I decided to put my wireless usb controller into the 4th port which is recessed inside the case - this is because I keep having to swap it with the mouse when updating rb files etc. After doing t...

Re: World Karate Championship Atari800

Ahh I see - I guess this is because of the difference in clock frequency? I was just reading about the difference between PAL and NTSC colors and it is starting to make sense now. The overscan area is interesting since most games don't seem to show it but I can understand why it wouldn't show on a s...

Re: World Karate Championship Atari800

In fact, there are several games that exhibit the color issue in NTSC mode - Chuckie Egg and Jet Boot Jack spring to mind.
I wonder if this is just an artifact of the hardware?
Or maybe I need to adjust the video mode.. honestly I'm not knowledgeable enough to know.. yet!

World Karate Championship Atari800

Hi all, I just recently setup my MiSTer and I love it, I'm running it on a Dell Ultrasharp 2007FP at 1600x1200 (which poses another question I'll ask another time) and most games work great. I do appreciate that this is open-source freeware so no I don't expect it to be perfect (although it damn nea...
