Re: Joystick mapping revamp?

Or use two analog axes on one game-pad. (which didn't seem to work on my 8bitdo SN30) For me it works fine with 2 analog sticks on SN30 Pro. Many arcade controllers have diagonal of 6 buttons, and 4 of them can be assigned for directional fire. Even pure digital gamepad with dpad and 4 face buttons...

Re: Arcade cores

No, there are two of us. :D I play Robotron a LOT. One of my old favorites. I may actually build a second MiSTer, so that I can just leave the X-Arcade dual stick mapped for longer periods, and use my original MiSTer for consoles and computers. Can't play twin stick games without twin sticks. Any m...

Re: Arcade cores

@Sorgelig : OK, no problem. Actually I kinda "worked around this" by remapping my 2 arcade sticks so that the first ones moves the character and the second one is used for aiming. I have to do it each time but that's OK as I guess there are only a handful (one ?) persons interested in this use case...

Re: Joystick mapping revamp?

I don't know that this is necessarily related, but is there a way to free up the configuration a little bit, so that mappings could be more arbitrarily assigned. My big example, and I know I've said this before, (so it it's not possible, no big deal) would be the ability to assign controls from mult...

Re: PC Engine core

Agree! Thanks for the good work on this core. I can live with little glitches here and there that are the result of making this core more accurate. I love to see the progress, and the discussion is quite interesting too. I was planning to have a good PC Engine play session this weekend, so I'd be ha...

Re: MiSTer Micro SD 128GB to 400GB Upgrade

Hello. I have my MiSTer ir’s beautiful and runs fine but I have in a 128GB Micro SD memory and I want to upgrade to a 400Gb. Is there a way to do with a copier? For example, I can clone with win32diskimager from the 128GB to the 400Gb, but if I do, it will copy as a 128GB and not as a 400GB right? ...

Re: A larger enclosure?

There is actually one more way to do the internal method that I just wasn't thinking of at the time. You can design around an off-the-shelf internal switching supply which are pretty small, usually caged and safe, and already certified. Then use the fused/switched power inlet with that. This would b...

Re: A larger enclosure?

I've been thinking of trying to design something for a full stack mister as well, but out of aluminum most likely. My background is CNC milling and CAD design with Solidworks. I would like something big enough that holds a HDD/SDD and a USB hub for those that dont have the USB add on. Ports like po...

Re: C64 Core

Nice! That answers that question. I've designed plenty of analog filters, but have never done it digitally. I guess the math would be about the same, but that isn't my strongest skill. I cheat and use transform function calculators and things like that. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to e...

Re: C64 Core

FPGA can do math quite effectively. And there is no reason to use ARM for that - it will be less effective than FPGA does. Actually filters math is not so hard. The problem is to know the correct formula. Then filter becomes a set of -,+,/,* operations - all of them are available in FPGA either dir...

Re: C64 Core

Sorgelig can probably give a more informed answer, but I don't think you would want to do the filter emulation on the ARM part. AFAIK, FPGA architecture lends itself very well to signal processing and filtering. So you would probably want to implement the filter emulation on the FPGA itself. I thin...

Re: C64 Core

This is purely curiosity. I design analog circuits (for synthesizers) and I do not code, so I don't know too much about what happens behind the scenes with all of these MiSTer cores. I do understand how programmable logic works, but I've only designed some simple CPLD logic circuits (once again for ...

Re: SNES core

Similar issue with the latest version, the attract loop fills the screen with garbage. Playing works up to the first 'screen change' (about 5 fights in) then the tiles are misplaced and player is stuck against BG. After about two hours of running the NeoGeo core I switched to SNES core and ran FF6 ...

Re: PC Engine core

#39 is more fun :) Last time i've tried to fix it (long time ago) i found the game uses 2 line interrupts but doesn't bother to check which line is interrupted, so it's based on some empirical coincidence which line starts to interrupt first. Actually programmer could easily avoid such problem, but...

Re: Joystick testing thread

You still can look in log the list of connected input controllers. Everytime MiSTer binary is starting it prints the list of controllers. So you can compare the list under different conditions. May be after reset this controller isn't visible, or may be it initialized with different VID/PID(?). I w...

Re: Joystick testing thread

I thought that could be the case, but hopefully it's just something I missed. I should have time to try a few more things tonight. in USB console in Menu core you have a log where you can see device VID/PID of all connected joysticks. I got the sticks working ok. It's a little bit flaky, but I'm pr...

Hi guys. Cannot get Arcade cores working under new MRA structure after hours of tinkering. Need to ask for some help. Re: Arcade cores

I was actually having this same "black screen" issue with my arcade games. I tried with the RBFs in _Arcade (which is where the update script actually put them) and in _Arcade/cores where everyone else said to put them. Still a black screen. This was actually the first time I've tried the Arcade cor...

Re: Joystick testing thread

Would this Joystick and Spinner setup work with MiSTer? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNHCCwBd88k It should. It looks like the encoder is fairly compatible.
