Re: S-100 computers core?

thanks, I was just looking around to see what's already available before starting to implement a new core :-) The 8080 on the MiST is straightforward, you only need to set a flag in the T80 cpu (the one used in most of the Z80 cores) and voilà you have an Intel 8080. For a minimal S100 system, you n...

S-100 computers core?

Is there any S-100 computer core available for MiST ? E.g. Altair 8800, IMSAI and similar. Or even a CP/M computer system.

is this for new cores that support YPbPr, or just any core?

Re: LM80C core

Actually you don't need to wait for that. The MIST already has such a microcontroller which is used to convert files stored on SD card into anything a core expects. This is e.g. used to inject PRG files into c64 ram or replay tape images for the zx81. Loading of *.PRG files is already working in th...

Re: LASER310

I see that @Gehstock has removed his MiST port of this computer, commenting it with:
There is a better Version
Does anybody know where is such version? The only one I know is zzemu-cn/LASER310_FPGA but it's not for the MiST.

Re: Laser 500 core

not yet, I've been involved in another MiST core (the LM80C) so the disk emulation is lagging. But is next on my list.

Re: LM80C core

Currently the LM80C does not have any mass storage; the author loads basic programs as text files over serial communication from his PC (F5 is mapped as "SERIAL 1,38400" for this). Similarly, saving is done by LISTing the program over the serial. But he is working on SD card reading/writing with a m...

LM80C core

I wrote a MiST core for the LM80C computer. You can find it here . The LM80C is a modern Z80 computer built by Leonardo Miliani . If you want to have a look at the project, it's open source and fully documented. LM80C specs: - Z80 @3.6864 MHz - 32K RAM - 32K ROM with a custom version of the Microsof...

Re: Laser 500 core

I updated the Laser 500 core to support the standard MiST video pipeline, meaning now it has optional scandoubler, YPbPr, and csync.

Re: Laser 500 core

Maybe the ROM is not loaded in time first? You should wait with reset release until it's loaded. yes it is loaded, I am sure because in the same ROM file there is also a test video RAM that gets loaded as well and I can see it on the screen. I had to trigger RESET twice before the T80 CPU can start...

Re: Laser 500 core

I have a strange issue, the core starts when is loaded from the menu, but doesn't when I rename it as "core.rbf". The ROM loads and the video is correct, it's just the CPU that doesn't start. Indeed if I reset it with the "pause" key (alias for reset) the CPU does starts then. Apparently, when start...

Re: Atari 2600 / VIC 20

Do you think it is possible to connect a virtual tape to a MIST/MISTICA after this project (CBM Tape Pi v1.6.1 - https://github.com/RhinoDevel/cbmtapepi )? yes, you can play and record from real tape using the UART_RX and AUDIO out (on the Mistica: "MIC" for output to tape, "EAR" for input from tap...

Re: Laser 500 core

I spent the whole morning switching back and forth from MiST to Laser 500 in order to fix the palette. It's strange because according to the schematics the palette should be a pure 1 bit RGB + 1 bit luminance, but instead the actual colors are somewhat different. Anyway here is the result of my pale...

Re: Laser 500 core

Do you really need 14 MHz RAM access rate? That's insanely fast for a 8-bit micro. As I see in your state machine, 4 cycle = 3.5MHz rate is enough. But if you allow two cycles to complete a read, that would still do it, and you could use 56 MHz. you are absolutely right, I was indeed unable to code...

Re: Laser 500 core

Unfortunately, Vtech Laser computers don't have a decent dump software library, which makes it very hard to find resources that can help you. I think the Laser 350 and 700 software should work, but what nippur72 tells us. The Laser 350 and 700 are variations of the 500 with a different memory model...

Re: Laser 500 core

I noticed that pressing a key results uppercase letter, pushing them with SHIFT gives lowercase. I'm not familiar with original HW, perhaps it's the normal behavior. Yes, it's normal, the machine has a "CAP LOCK" key but it boots on uppercase by default. I'll check whether it's possible to turn on ...

Re: Laser 500 core

yes the disk controller is on the TODO list :D As regards the software it's very scarce as you already know, basically there are the old demos (City Invasion etc) and a bunch of programs written in the more recent years. I will setup a page with a comprehensive list. I once intended to write somethi...

Re: Laser 500 core

oh thank you for testing, and what a crisp picture, are you using some sort of VGA upscaler? Regarding the reset key, I know it seems odd but it's perfectly normal. In this machine the reset key triggers directly the CPU, but instead of booting it, the ROM is so wise to differentiate a "warm" start ...

Re: LASER310

by looking at the source code it seems to me that the CPU clock is 50 / 16 = 3.125 MHz which is a bit different than the 3.57 MHz of the real hardware. Has anyone verified that?

Re: LASER310

Hi, as I wrote in issues #16 I tried this core on my old CRT TV and it doesn't display correctly. The image is slanted, out of sync and monochrome. Looking at the code it seems this is a VGA-only core, but I noticed that the file "SVGA_DEFINES.v" contains configurable parameters for the screen geome...
