Re: PC Engine core

I'd however be curious to know if the Autofire of the Core Grafx Mini and TGX16 Mini controllers work just as fine. I just asked that question only 2 posts above yours :P Just so you know though, the PC Engine controller (white/red one) that can be bought separately also has the turbo switches. Tha...

Re: PC Engine core

Those are USB-C, right? No, regular USB-A. I was actually thinking about picking up one of the controllers as they are sold separately, but I'm wondering about the turbo switches, whether they function on a hardware level (so would work with MiSTer) or rather just enable autofire somehow in the min...

Re: Arcade Multi-cores

I'm currently porting my Irem M62 core to MiSTer (I know Gehstock started on an incomplete version a few years ago). The core supports quite a few different games, with subtle differences to the logic for dipswitches, crude protection mechanisms, sprites etc. Hi! I don't know how's your progressing...

Re: Special/Interesting controllers for MiSTer

If you want a really fancy spinner then you could pick up one of these on eBay: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griffin_PowerMate not sure if it's really made for playing the games. Probably it has low resolution useful only for something like change the volume. I actually have 2 of these, I tried on...

Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread

i think you need to find out timings of mode 87 first. Hum, I'm unable to find any tech spec or data. Is there a way to find it out other than guessing randomly ? I'm lost here... If you have a Windows PC with integrated Intel video, you can dump the raw EDID using the Intel display software to sav...

Re: Atari 7800?

I’ve had pretty good luck starting Atari 2600 games where the start and select buttons are unresponsive by rapidly button mashing the DPad, start, and select buttons. Good tip, but ideally it would just work properly and we wouldn't need workarounds :) Thanks for maintaining the compatibility list ...

Re: Atari 7800?

These games all run on the core from what I tried just now, are you talking about anything specific? Asteroids F8 Yes Flawed 5/9/2019 Start & Select fails to register. Try loading Ms. Pac-Man first then Asteroids. Centipede F8 Yes Flawed Game works, but title screen is messed up Haunted House 4K Ye...

Re: Atari 7800?

... I wouldn't say the 2600 core works great, it really is spotty for game support over HDMI at least some games just won't display anything... In case of 2600/VCS console the properties of the video output (resolution, refresh rate) are determined by the ROM you use, so depends on the software ins...

When I first saw the MiSTer menu, I thought it was too simple.

After using it, I realized that simplicity is its beauty :)

99% of users even don't know what you are talking about Putting aside whether input lag is an issue or not, I found this comment pretty funny. 99.9% of people don't know what an FPGA is and are happy to use decade-old emulators with all sorts of inaccuracies, running on an under-powered Pi. Re: GBA Core porting to Mister

Follow up from my previous post: Using the latest VGA-enabled release, still getting a black screen (with sound) from this core through a U-Green HDMI to VGA adapter to a PC CRT, using vsync_adjust 0, 1 and 2. Direct Video does work (using the 'sync core to video' option), but means that filters can...

There is a region-free BIOS set available as well, these will play all games with a single BIOS.

Re: Bluetooth pairing of Dual Shock 4 (PS4) controller

Trying to pair Dual Shock 4 (PS4) controller (CUH-ZCT1U) to MISTer. It seems to pair but it doesn't stick. The controller came with my PS4 which was purchased new several years ago. I'm using a new CSR 4.0 dongle. I updated MISTer and tried various methods of pairing. The attached picture is the re...

Re: Filters for Scaler

That is strange. I use integer scaling together with a vertical border for the game boy core in order to scale the picture with a lesser factor. So this feature normally adds a border then? I misunderstood it to remove pixels at the top and bottom (i.e. replicating traditional overscan). I suppose ...

Re: Filters for Scaler

Ah, that should do it ! Thanks a lot ! Edit : hmm, vscale_border doesn't seem to be applied (neither globally nor locally). It does not increase the margins around the picture. Maybe I overlooked something ! I'm guessing that to add pixels (rather than removing them) you would need to supply a nega...

Re: GBA Core porting to Mister

I get a black screen (with sound) from this core through a U-Green HDMI to VGA adapter to a PC CRT. I understand VGA is not working currently, but I assumed this was only via the I/O board. As the output from the MiSTer is HDMI in this case, should it not be working? Tried vsync_adjust at 0, 1 and 2...

I recently decided to redo my SD card to do a major cleanup and also to make good use of the /media/fat/games subdirectories. With my old setup I had a NEOGEO directory in /media/fat where I put the bios files, the xml file and all game subdirectories. This time I put everything in /media/fat/games...

I use the HDMI output so maybe it displays ok using VGA since I have seen the video of it running....
