Re: Original analog video without I/O board? Possible!
I have CRT whining with a few original PCBs as well till the game boots up. Either use TV CRTs which have more protection for incompatible resolutions, or use official VGA IO board if you are that concerned.
Re: ao486 Windows95 ?

Re: X68000 core
afaik x68000 core no longer works with the latest MiSTer. You need to get an older main MiSTer just to try it. The core as it stands is abandoned till its revived in future or rewritten from scratch.
Re: ao486 Performance Technical Discussion
If you are looking for a 386 to run games before 1993 mainly, ao486 is fine.

Re: DIY MD/SMS/Atari/C= to USB adapter
Paddles can be used on Atari 2600, Pong arcade core and in future the AY Pong core. MiSTer treat "tilt" for paddle - absolute position (say voltage measurement). This is different from a spinner which is relative position (unlimited turns) and is mapped to MiSTer as mouse. Cores like Super Breakout,...

Does anyone know why the direction pad gets flipped on the gamepad on Galaga if the rotation is turned off? Same behaviour on Galaxian.

Re: Atari 7800?
When bog standard titles like Space Invaders, Asteroids, Centipede, Haunted House, etc. are not working properly, then something is wrong with the core. These titles all work perfectly on real 2600 hardware via LCD or CRT. These games all run on the core from what I tried just now, are you talking ...

Re: Ultimate chiptune development tool?
Can we add components on all the cores which degrades the cores overtime and ultimately rendering them useless? That way the FPGA will be totally faithful to the devices recreated. The degradations should follow the real thing, like maybe simulate random capacitor leaks and power surge killing the f...

Retrobit is using official Sega mould for both Genesis and Saturn and is quite good, its got2.4ghz variant as well - its new but quality wise pretty good at par with 8bitdo. Couldnt MiSTer arbitrarily add an extra number at the end or the beginning to the hardware id if it sees two controllers of th...

Re: Ultimate chiptune development tool?
Someone needs to write roms for each core and design interface using serial or the game ports to make that happen. No on in MiSTer dev team is doing it afaik. If chiptuners want it, they might need to design and code themselves. Positive thing is, the rom / peripherals could be used in original hard...

Re: MiSTer frontend future
Yeah, it is bad when you have a frontend with screenshots / info tab but not all game information is not on it. Not to mention makes it bloat. The current UI is really old school like the NES multi carts back in the 1990s and matches the actual pixilated graphics of most of the cores.

To clarify, how do different BIOS' work... do you need to have one labelled as "boot.rom" and then you can have others for different regions etc.? Yeah since majority of games I have are US, I have renamed an US bios as boot.rom. If I want to run any other region, I use the bios from the menu, chan...
