Re: Atari ST core

Most Atari STs had 520kb or 1MB of memory, probably the core should default to 1MB for accuracy and let users change it to bigger at their choice. Pretty much no games supported over 1MB until after the STs golden years - STE and falcon which unfortunately has a tiny library. Currently the core defa...

Re: Atari ST core

Thanks for porting this! I played around a bit and i get a lot of sound issues (lots of popping/hissing etc not present in other cores), Sprites in Rtype-2 are all messed up and no sound on magic pockets. I didn't test many other things as i figure first release and also could be some things on my ...

Re: AppleII+ core

interestingly you can flip it so that up/down works and not left/right in the mister menu if you pick the option to swap xy. So in theory it should be possible with a non analogue controller but maybe just isn't implemented?

Re: AppleII+ core

Seems this is still broken, i've tried a bunch of different controllers now. Apple II games often have 2 options - Apple stick or Joyport (or keyboard but many games have no keyboard option). Joyport doesn't seem to work at all. Apple Stick works but you can't use up/down. You can map your controlle...

Re: MiSTer frontend future

Couldn't we just add an auto launch function to MiSTer to launch boogermans menu? That way you could keep the normal OSD, and those who want to use boogermans menu just set something in the ini file?

[MiSTer]
autolaunch=boogerman-menu.something

Re: MiSTer frontend future

I have been working on a UI and Backend to download cores and change settings for the past 2 months, I'm starting with 320x240 for the UI so people can use with CRT's but there's also gonna be a wide screen version with more stuff being displayed. Here's a sample of it https://i.imgur.com/4CVTqvr.j...

Re: MiSTery Atari ST/STe core

Me three. I still use my real ST via OSSC because i want to use HDMI and the current fxcast core is forced 16:9 over HDMI - the biggest sin in retro gaming is 4:3 stretched to 16:9 :/

I really don't like the joystick port issues on my real ST but at least the screen is right.

Re: AppleII+ core

Thanks but seems to be a different problem as my controller has no analogue sticks (its the SNES controllers that they made up for the super nt release). I'll try another controller but seems weird that it works in all the other cores.

Edit: sorry this should be in Apple IIe thread, the problem is in the Apple IIe core Anyone else have problems with up/down direction working in this core on controller/joystick in games? Re: NeoGeo topic

This is a known issue with Unibios, try with MVS Bios..... from Unibios site: Some early games like Nam 1975 for example will have corrupted 'How to Play' screens when in arcade mode. This is because the AES does not have the needed character font built in that the MVS has I just tested on real MVS...

Re: NeoGeo topic

Excellent work! I've been playing and testing for a few hours now and so far everything works really well, haven't found any problems. Even Fatal Fury 2 copy protection isn't a problem (on a real neogeo with darksoft cart the copy protection makes the second fight opponent invincible) on MiSTer ther...

Should we also post TVs in this thread?

I just tested my Samsung MU7000 82 and it works on vsync_adjust=2 on every core i tested (almost all of them including ZX Spectrum), I've got a bunch of sony TVs i can test too.

Re: ScummVM running on FrameBuffer

It's good to see ScummVM on MiSTer, i don't see what the problem is if it can be self contained in it's own directory on the SDCard like other cores. If it's not modifying the Linux OS then it shouldn't be an issue. It would be good to have it in the update script, if purists have problems with it b...

Re: using a laptop as a screen

HDBase-T won't work for his laptop as its just a way to carry video over a certain type of cable (cat5/6). In my opinion HDBase-T is a bit of a waste and HDMI over IP has surpassed it in the last 12 months. SDVoE does lossless compression and so do a lot of the HDMI over IP solutions released in the...

Re: using a laptop as a screen

HDMI over IP solutions might do what you want, there are hundreds of them now. Some of the hardware ones have sub 1 frame lag, and there are some that support software clients that you could run on your laptop (not sure on lag). The good ones do full 1080p 60hz at under 1gbps network. It's going to ...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

if the core gets opensource then maybe even someone else will do the scaler support for it :)

I have the same issue, I've got 4 different 4K TVs and none of them have an option to set to 4:3 anymore (1 samsung, 3 sonys), seems this option is more common on older TVs :(

MiSTer isn't really MIST they are two very separate projects

polymega is nothing but a product for uninformed people, everything about it is wrong - silly kickstarter like goals - broken promises (it's no longer FPGA) - silly ideas (promise to run real cartridge and do hybrid emulation before checking if its actually possible) - a cheaper RPI is better - prob...

Does your router (192.168.2.1) have a dhcp server on it? Why not just enable it? Pretty much 99% of home routers will have one you can just turn on.

Re: controller ports: minimizing input lag

I guess we still have the question - will increasing the usb polling make any difference at all? I only ask this because its a very easy thing to do, you edit one .c file and recompile the linux kernel :) It's not a big undertaking like the FPGA scaler development :). The other question is - does th...

Re: controller ports: minimizing input lag

Even if you use a controller with zero lag, you can press a button just after the game has polled the controller and the input lag will then be one frame. So with a zero lag controller (game at 60fps) the input lag will be between 0 and 16.7ms and with a USB controller (assuming 125Hz polling) the ...
