Re: New game: The Curse of Rabenstein

I've finished the game in a couple of sittings. It's nice to have a new game for the ST, but it's very, very short. If all the right moves were made in a row, it would take only about 10 minutes to play through, although obviously on first play (and there really is no replayability here) it takes qu...

Re: Automatically start ssh daemon under Mint

I've got mine starting by adding it to /etc/rc.d/rc.local, but that will work only if you have an init-based MiNT system I believe. sshd is saying that because apparently the way mint.cnf is starting it, it's not executing the binary as a full path to the binary, despite looking that way in mint.cnf...

Re: COVID-19 Watcher 1.0.0

Gluestik for MiNT should be included in the distribution, look for it at C:/mint/1-19-9ef/sys-root/opt/GEM/gluestik, but it is disabled by default and needs to be enabled in mint.cnf. I am not a MiNT expert, though. I can confirm it works fine with Gluesitk/MiNT. I find it cynical to shout here hoo...

Re: Time to upgrade my STE.

2. TOS 2.06 seems to be much more suitable for an STE with a hard drive. Will I miss out on anything once I don't have access to TOS 1.xx? Any notable games or applications that haven't been patched for TOS 2? You could get the best of both worlds with something like the exxos STE TOS switcher . I'...

Re: Falcon Troubles

Also what should I see on screen from the working falcon? That is without a diagnostic cart yet? I know I will not see the desktop, but key presses? Without the diag cart running on the broken Falcon, you should see nothing at all on the working Falcon's terminal program. Nothing producing serial o...

The only null-modem cable I have is a F-DB25 to F-DB9. I have no gender changer. I have a F-DB9 to M-DB25 serial I can use a gender changer. But this setup will only connect the modem ports. Thanks Those are the correct ports to be connecting, so the combination of your two cables should give you w...

Re: Falcon Troubles

Thanks, I have a blank cart shell and PCB. I only have diag ROMs for ST/Mega, STe, & MSte, No falcon. Consider picking up one of the muti-image diag carts from exxos . Very very handy to have that around. You can select which diag software you want (or YARTT or GEMBENCH) via jumpers and just plug i...

Anyone want to trade a QWERTY Stacy keyboard for an AZERTY?

I've acquired and repaired a French configuration Stacy, but unfortunately the French AZERTY keyboard layout is quite different from QWERTY (and different enough that simply swapping keycaps around doesn't help enough). So, does anyone out there happen to be looking for a French Stacy keyboard and h...

Re: Suggestions on upgrading my 1040 STE

I am looking for a TOS switcher. I found "Dual TOS" on Exxos shop. I can certainly give the exxos STE TOS switcher a thumbs up. I've got one in my STE (with a switch installed in the "front" panel of my internal Gotek floppy emulator) and I'm pleased with it. If you order one, make sure no...

Re: No Sound on Atari SC1224 color Monitor but very high pitch sound and ugly smell

If the picture is not horizontal, i.e. the horizon is tipped a little, you need to adjust the deflection yokes on the tube. It's not a difficult job, but it does require a willingness to work on the tube while it's powered up (or in lots of small steps when it's powered down). You can certainly find...

Re: No Sound on Atari SC1224 color Monitor but very high pitch sound and ugly smell

The tube in the SC1224 (almost certainly) has a bleed resistor in the anode cap. It will be entirely discharged if you just leave it off for a few hours, best overnight to be sure. The SM124 probably does as well, although I am less familiar with that hardware. If you're just blowing out the insides...

1) I would guess you're just heating up a bunch of dust inside. You might want to open them up and blow out the insides.

3) He's hearing the 15 kHz hsync coming off the flyback transformer. Perfectly normal. Tell him it'll go away when he's in his 30s. ;)

it is also worth to check GAL chips at some point, as they tend to loose programmed contents with age.
