Re: Atari in films
Just spotted this in the first segment of the new HBO Max documentary "Heaven's Gate: The Cult of Cults"
The daughter of two former cult members is showing off one of her dad's inventions, an ergonomic desk, and there's an Atari ST monitor and mouse there.

Re: Fault finding on an Atari STe
I'm going to try reseating the components firstly but I've got the replacement PSU bookmarked in case that's required (I suspect it may well be!) But hopefully I can save some money and not buy it unncessarily. If you have a multimeter and you're comfortable using it on live equipment, you can chec...

Re: Fault finding on an Atari STe
Thank derkom, much appreciated. I've had a check and there is no lo/hi switch. :( I'm guessing that might rule out this cable type? Well, let's be sure. I've just looked on my STE here, and there's no Lo/Hi switch either, which I never noticed. :D Maybe the Lo/Hi switch is only on NTSC machines? So...

Re: Fault finding on an Atari STe
This may be a stupid question, but how do I find out if my STe has an RF converter and is outputting composite video? I would imagine your eBay cable is fine. These things aren't complicated. Have a look at the back of your STE... back_panel.gif If you have a Lo/Hi switch and an RCA style output in...

Re: OSSC testing. Great but strange colors
Not entirely sure which monitor you mean here, since there doesn't seem to be anything called a Dell 24U. Do you perhaps mean something like a Dell U2412? If you're using a monitor with a DVI input, not HDMI, make sure you've set "TX mode" to "DVI" in the OSSC's output options menu.

Re: Fault finding on an Atari STe
Good choice of keeping your beloved one. For the black screen, could it be the infamous problem of the unsupported 15Khz horizontal freq on nowadays monitors ? Try to find a way to test booting in monochrome (involves a custom din 13 to vga adaptator) If he's really using a DIN13-to-composite cable...

Re: Fault finding on an Atari STe
Does your STE have an RF modulator? If I'm not mistaken, the 13-pin DIN to composite type cable will only work on an STE with an RF modulator. STEs without RF output have only composite sync on that pin, and no picture, which could explain why your devices are detecting sync. (However, I think the on...

Here are the solder points: 1) Pin 11 of IC 6301 lablelled U1 on schematic (IC was removed from socket, pin 11 bent outward and soldered to wire and then IC was re-socketed) is keyb tx orig (TX signal going from keyboard, which is sent to CE for processing) red wire in pic below. 2) Pin 43 of Heade...

Re: New game: The Curse of Rabenstein
I've finished the game in a couple of sittings. It's nice to have a new game for the ST, but it's very, very short. If all the right moves were made in a row, it would take only about 10 minutes to play through, although obviously on first play (and there really is no replayability here) it takes qu...

Re: Automatically start ssh daemon under Mint
I've got mine starting by adding it to /etc/rc.d/rc.local, but that will work only if you have an init-based MiNT system I believe. sshd is saying that because apparently the way mint.cnf is starting it, it's not executing the binary as a full path to the binary, despite looking that way in mint.cnf...

Re: COVID-19 Watcher 1.0.0
Gluestik for MiNT should be included in the distribution, look for it at C:/mint/1-19-9ef/sys-root/opt/GEM/gluestik, but it is disabled by default and needs to be enabled in mint.cnf. I am not a MiNT expert, though. I can confirm it works fine with Gluesitk/MiNT. I find it cynical to shout here hoo...

Re: Time to upgrade my STE.
2. TOS 2.06 seems to be much more suitable for an STE with a hard drive. Will I miss out on anything once I don't have access to TOS 1.xx? Any notable games or applications that haven't been patched for TOS 2? You could get the best of both worlds with something like the exxos STE TOS switcher . I'...

Also what should I see on screen from the working falcon? That is without a diagnostic cart yet? I know I will not see the desktop, but key presses? Without the diag cart running on the broken Falcon, you should see nothing at all on the working Falcon's terminal program. Nothing producing serial o...

Thanks, I have a blank cart shell and PCB. I only have diag ROMs for ST/Mega, STe, & MSte, No falcon. Consider picking up one of the muti-image diag carts from exxos .
