Re: ST / SmallyMouse too sensitive

Just a little note here. I today I found out, that much of my "sluggish & unclean mouse precision" experience is because of my Samsung LED TV. It seems that there is more input lag to it than I initially felt. So happy that I today ordered today an OSSC HDMI solution. Hopefully this will fix much of...

ST / SmallyMouse too sensitive

Hi there, I'm using one of Olivier's "USB Mouse Adapter for ATARI (SmallyMouse2)". But I find it to "hectic" - tpo sensitive & unprecise. I understand that I can adjust the settings via the firmware. But it seems that none of my configuration have an effect. In "main.c" there are at least three sett...

Re: [MegaST] Help! Power supply broken?

Yes I did it!! Old psw de-soldered and new one installed. The MW RD-50A is a perfect replacement for the MegaST. It's amazing how well it fitted.

So happy that my computer now works again.

Re: [MegaST] Help! Power supply broken?

this is a great video. I found it very understandable.
I just ordered a "MEAN WELL RD-50A AC/DC (54W)" for about 16 € .

Let's see when it is here and hopefully my Atari is then back to normal once I fiddled it in ..

[MegaST] Help! Power supply broken?

Hi there, https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=39641 I was just so happy that all my nice 2020 upgrades arrived and were working nicely but now the power supply in my Atari MegaST broke :-(( When I turn on my machine, simply nothing happens - no lights blinking - nothing. I'm no hardware...

Boot into shell?

Hi *, i'm pretty new to the Atari ST. Please check: https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=39641 I just got a nice setup working MegaST4 with a Ultrasatan. I'm coming from the Atari 8bit world with SpartaDosX, which assembles very nicely the MSDOS days. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparta...

Re: [MegaST] what hw upgrades do I need in 2020

Hi all, a little update. My hardware upgrade is almost complete and I'm having a perfectly useable Atari MegaST4 / 2020 :-) This is what I now bought: * Cased Ultrasatan + Internal Mega ST ASCI cable (Lotharek, PL) * RGB Scart Cable (RetroComputerShack, UK) * SmallyMouse USB Converter, VGA C/M Switc...

Re: [MegaST] what hw upgrades do I need in 2020

hey dma, thanks for all your insights. I think it's still worth to have an OSSC especially when considering the HDMI-only LCDs that have no support for VGA and/or SCART. It's strange that the VGA signal is weaker combined with OSSC. I'm going to have the OSSC in future so I will do such testing with...

Re: [MegaST] what hw upgrades do I need in 2020

Question: * Where is TOS 2.06 actually beneficial? Many users like the much-improved TOS 2 desktop. TOS 2 adds IDE support (important for the Lightning ST) and Alt-RAM support (important for the Storm ST). It also fixes some bugs in TOS 1. Read this German article for more information: http://www.s...

Re: [MegaST] what hw upgrades do I need in 2020

So i don't have a VGA cable handy by now... Frustrating, because i really wanted to try it now. I'll have one in the next weeks. So if you can wait, i'll do the test and report then. sure no problem to wait. But as Evil said I would expect no issues to support OSSC support on both resolutions. I th...

Re: [MegaST] what hw upgrades do I need in 2020

Hi Joska, What do you mean by "download stuff"? ftp - yes. Sftp - no. Web-pages - no. Internet - except for really simple stuff like telnet or unencrypted ftp and mail - is a pain on any Atari, including the high-end clones or accelerators. If you want to transfer software to your Atari via a networ...

Re: [MegaST] what hw upgrades do I need in 2020

Hi guys, thanks a lot for all your feedback. Amazing what is possible these days and how much support the 16bit Ataris still have. Impressive. So after reading & compiling all your comments I came to a set of decisions / hw upgrade I'm going to buy. But I have a few remaining questions. So again if ...

[MegaST] what hw upgrades do I need in 2020

Hi there, I'm very very long out of the Atari ST scene now and I would appreciate your help to bring back my Atari ST 16Bit experience in a 2020-style. My background? In 1998 I got an Atari MegaST4 & SC1224 monitor. It came with some kind of HDD upgrade - but I don't remember anymore what exactyl it...

STEEM SSE strange keyboard problem

Hi ! I'm using Steem SSE 3.8.2. For some reason I can't type in the letters Y and Z inside the emulation. I tried various settings in the configuration. German Keyboard and German TOS , as well as US Keyboard and US TOS. But in all options Steem refuses to accept Y/Z keystrokes. any ideas? grüße, twh

Network filecopy to Atari ST

Hey friends, I have here one Atari Mega ST4 with a HDD installed. Is there a nice way to connect and use this Atari with my a local network? Instead of creating/handling/swapping the actual disks between the Windows PC and the Atari ST I would prefer share files with something like Samba. Basic reas...

Re: how is this demo effect called?

this picture is from an atari 8bit demo. It's showing pretty much the same beam light effect. Here however the light source is not behind a wall but inside a sphere.

how is this technique realized?

how is this demo effect called?

Hello *,

look at the picture. It's a moving map and the light beams are shining through the edges and "lakes" (wholes). What is the name of this effect? Anybody know a web site where this effect is technically described, potentially with source code?
