Re: WIP: ScummVM-Lite Atari

Thanks for the details about issues with MagiC. There were some mentions in the thread about Mint also. I want it to work on these systems of course, maybe not as a first priority but I feel it's certainly worthwhile making sure it runs fine on these - I don't know of course, but I really can't ima...

It could be used to connect Mac MIDI interfaces. Drivers available for Cubase and other MIDI apps.

Re: WIP: ScummVM-Lite Atari

Don't bother with Mint problems i'd say, it requires quite a powerful machine (my version only works on 060) and they're not the primary target of your program. It works really well on Tos, unlike Scummvm. You should really share your work with Scummvm developpers and explain how you managed to get...

Re: WIP: ScummVM-Lite Atari (off topic)

I wrote an entire PC (286 + MCGA + Tandy sound) emulator just to play Monkey Island 1 in 256 colours on my Falcon. What?! Was this released?? Wish I'd known about this! Never released it. A few people have it. It's not very compatible, but it does MI1 very well in 256 colours on a 060 (probably als...

Re: WIP: ScummVM-Lite Atari

I wrote an entire PC (286 + MCGA + Tandy sound) emulator just to play Monkey Island 1 in 256 colours on my Falcon. @agranlund: Tandy/PCjr sound can easily be emulated using the YM, and it sounds more or less just like the original. If MI2 contains Tandy music, I think I have some very rudimentary YM...

Re: WIP: ScummVM-Lite Atari

Amazing, just tried it on a stock Falcon setup (Hatari I'm afraid), and performance is on par or better with native MI1. Nice achievement!

As long as you don't do anything dirty it should work well on FreeMiNT too. And if you do, it can usually be fixed.

Re: Firmware V011 Lost Gem text output to screen

It happens in 1-8bpp modes when using NVDI. It’s a known driver issue and it’s not because of your firmware upgrade.

Re: Supervidel doesn't work

1. Delete/rename newdesk.inf 2.Install SV_XBIOS only (i.e. make sure it's the only thing in your auto folder, disable any accessories) - If that doesn't work, you have a problem with your SV (possibly due to an unsuccessful firmware update, or a hardware problem). - If it works (it should, NVDI isn'...

Re: LZ4 decoder (assembler)

By curiosity I've checked if this behavior of the stack pointer (" A7 is decremented by two to maintain a word-aligned stack ") exists on all 680x0 processors. 680x0 User's Manuals describe this behavior for the 68000-68030 processors, but nothing for the 68060. Any idea how it behaves on a 68060? ...

Re: Fastest way to move 256 words on 68030 TT for 4096 colour display

Oh I love this thread. The TT is such an awesome yet neglected machine. The 640x480x4bpp mode uses banked palette registers, i.e. there are 16 palette entries in each palette bank, and a total of 16 banks. Only one bank is active at a time. ... so switching banks could probably be done very often, s...

Re: New SuperVidel & some ideas for future development.

Yes, but a lot of applications that looks like GEM applications writes window contents directly to screen memory. If it works on Aranym + native fVDI, it should work on a software-rotated VDI as well. Not even Conholio does naughty things like that (although I've considered it as an option). That's...

It won't work for non-VDI stuff, if that's what you mean. Anything VDI/GEM wouldn't even know about it (i.e. it would work out of the box).

Re: New SuperVidel & some ideas for future development.

@leech: Screen rotation could be achieved with some work using the TOS VDI, but I'm fairly confident that it's more or less impossible/hellish to achieve this on the NVDI driver side. So in such case one would have to live with the VDI + NVDI-sans-graphics-drivers combo. This wouldn't require the us...

Yeah. If your code is executed of om a MiNT setup, these variables are likely to exist. On plain TOS, they’re often not, so you’ll need a fallback for that.

Another question: where are you supposed to put temporary files on a Falcon? C:\ ?
I’d check the relevant environment variables first, and if that failed, use the current directory.
