Re: What are the current ST equivalent hardware replacements available?
Thats true Mindthreat but some of my synthesizers have 16 channels and accept input for each one independently. It's nice to have everything connected to the Atari and be able to play any of them if I want just by picking the instrument in Cubase and assigning the proper input device to it or to be ...

Re: What are the current ST equivalent hardware replacements available?
The MISTs MIDI timing is very accurate. There are musicians who run several MISTs independently in parallel and they stay in sync accurate enough without actually being connected to each other. Yeah, but a real Atari also has very accurate timing and with Cubase it can route MIDI inputs to outputs ...

Re: Midi Soft thru
Alternatively you could use the Atari's hardware MIDI thru but that entails using external hardware to switch between out and thru. You don't really need to switch, the thru are just on strange pins of the MIDI out connector. Pins 1 and 3 are MIDI thru out and in. You can make a pigtail cable to sp...

If you release something it's released and you can't un-release it. These guys can put whatever they want in their databases. Why don't they just remove it anyway if the author wants them to? Because they don't want to remove it. It's their database and they can keep whatever they want in it. Get ov...

Re: Bus error
whether I'm on little or big endian it should not matter completely from what I understand. I declare some variable as 32 bit integer and as long as I do not try to copy there more than 32 bits, all should be fine. Am I wrong here? But Uint32 pixel is 2 bytes long and unsigned char pixel is one byt...

Re: For sale: Cubase Score and v3 modified dongle.
ah thanks for the info. I was thinking about switching to Cubase Audio Falcon from 2.1 for more stability when using tons of midi ports, and I even have a dongle, but haven't been using it yet because I've got a Unitor-N. I was going to try switching to a Unitor 2 but maybe I'll come up with a diffe...

I didn't know the dongle needed to be modified to fit in a Unitor 2, how strange. Is that just the Score dongle, or all of them?

yeah I'm using the FlashFloppy firmware on mine, I didn't have any trouble with the usb A-A cable method. I think I had to solder a jumper across 2 pads but I was able to do it with a butane iron

Howdy Atarians,
I'm on the hunt for a working SMPII or SMP24 for a reasonable price.
I'll update this thread when I find one, until then if you have one you wish to get rid of hit me up!

Falcon wasn't contemporary with the 286/386, it was contemporary with the 486 which unfortunately did show it up in many ways. The 66mhz Pentium would land 2 years after the Falcon launch and blow it to smithereens

I think I told that guy posting ebay threads I didn't like his post because the language in the posting was kind of shady. I don't have a problem with ebay threads in and of themselves. I'm also ok with telling someone when I think their post is bad. But I wouldn't really mind a rule or a subforum e...

Re: Advertising Atari with sexy girls.
Amiga wasn't really very good at midi. I'm getting one up and running now, but it seems to have an interesting problem where the serial port buffer is only one byte long. So if you miss your window of time to grab that byte another MIDI message will come along and happily blast away your buffer. And...

don't do it with any Atari, only an idiot would do that
open it up and inspect the board for problems like leaking caps and press on the seated chips to seat them firmly in their chip carriers. Consider replacing the capacitors on the board

my reaction is also negative. It looks very expensive. "MINT" is a pretty lofty claim. It was "refurbished to a high standard"? What does that mean? Who did the work, was it you? If so, what did you do, exactly? What was broken, how did you fix it? Did you recap it? If so, where are the photos of yo...

Re: extra midi port thru steem via usb
gotta check the pinouts and stuff, serial can be complicated. Sometimes you need a rollover cable, sometimes you don't, and there are a couple other gotchas. USB serial adapters have been pretty reliable for me, I prefer Keyspan adapters but ones based on ftdi chipsets are good too
