Re: Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

If it is static, then you might be able to work around this by putting the structure in a source file on its own, and then use a custom linker script where you use the SUBALIGN() directive for object files to make each object file be aligned. sounds good will try that. Hi Thorsten, so I fi...

Re: Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

As long as TOS allocates BASEPAGE (hence TEXT segment) on 2-byte only, there is no way to get better alignment for code, static data and static variables. Whatever method is used. The best you can do is to dynamically allocate buffers and manually adjust addresses for your alignment needs. That bei...

Re: Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

I quite don't understand why the data segment alignment doesn't affect individual global variables alignment. Because the compiler does not align them,and there is only a single data segment: $ cat foo.c short x = 3; int y = 4; $ m68k-atari-mint-gcc -c foo.c $ m68k-atarimint-nm foo.o 00000000 D _x ...

Re: Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

I think you are mixing different things up here. The alignment of the (start of the) text-segment is determined by Malloc(), this is what recently was changed in EmuTOS. However, alignment of the data- and bss segments is dictated by the section alignment of the file format, and that is 2 bytes. Fo...

Re: Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

Is this fixed with EmuTOS? I mean the 4 bytes alignment for the TEXT section ? Until 0.9.12, EmuTOS alignment for TEXT section was 4 bytes. But for the sake of compatibility with an obscure program called Mortimer, EmuTOS has recently changed to a 2-byte alignment in ST-RAM like Atari TOS. However,...

Does the 2 bytes alignment limitation on m68k-atari-mint creates performance hazard?

Hello, I'm manipulating some 4 bytes ints in this project. I'm trying to set up a 4 bytes alignment like this: int __attribute__ ((aligned(4))) toto; Unfortunately this won't work in m68k-atari-mint, it will print a warning at compilation saying it can only do 2 bytes max. Then the memory address al...
