Re: Selectric 2.02 - replacement file selector

I bought mine (and a lot of other Atari stuff) from Joe back in the day.

Pretty sure he isn't running the Atari ST operations there days, so it's not really worth trying to track him down.

I loved Selectic, it was great...

Re: some questions on midi, music software

Sending MIDI CC's is trivial for any decent Atari sequencer (not DAW - the Atari was pre-DAW). You're overthinking this a bit. Just get a sequencer - it doesn't really matter which one, take your pick, probably something like Cubase will have a good variety of tools to record, generate and manipulat...

Re: SOS SysEx Toolkit 1-3

charles, it would be good to give the download links of the stuff we've sourced so far to Martin, in case he wants to retain copies for himself...

As you've already been communicating with him, it makes sense for you to let him know... thanks!

Awesome - thanks for those - they do indeed look like Disks 1 and 2. Great find!

Here's the ones I found so far from the FASTCLUB and Floppyshop archives.

Re: SOS SysEx Toolkit 1-3

So just heard back from SOS - and sadly, they *did* indeed have the box of master floppies of this stuff in a cupboard, but cleared out their offices last year and threw them out. So it's a case of bad timing - if this happened last year, I could probably have got them sent to me instead... However,...

issues of what =sos mags with coverdisks Sound On Sound did not come with any coverdisks or software. Well, they would be in a Music or MIDI category in general... Are there archives of the old shareware systems available? There used to be plenty of FTP sites of Atari software, and a lot of that got mirrored on the net for sure... I've asked on the SOS forum but it's unlikely to result in anything I...

Martin can be found here: http://blog.synthesizerwriter.com, so it's worth asking him (It also might be worth mentioning you found his articles on muzines.co.uk as he's a fan of the muzines project.) HIs main site is, straightforwardly enough: http://www.martinruss.com (his email address is at the b...

Re: Can I send MIDI to steem from a DAW/Ableton on PC?

Soundflower is for audio routing, nothing to do with MIDI, so no. I don't know about how Steam handles MIDI, but normally the emulator should set up a virtual MIDI port (Hatari does this, for example), so you just choose the virtual MIDI port as the destination for your MIDI data in whatever DAW you...

Re: Dead HD recovery (Mini S)

Drive just doesn't spin up or it shorts the PSU? Just nothing happens, the drive stays silent. So as said, either the drive is mechanically dead (although in this case I would have thought that it might have made *some* noise), or the controlling board is dead (in which case, it never sends any mes...

Re: Dead HD recovery (Mini S)

Thanks - yes, this is basically where I had got to. The data is certainly not worth that kind of investment of effort or money, especially as I already have most of it's contents.

Oh well, thought I'd ask just in case some of you gurus had any other suggestions.

Re: Dead HD recovery (Mini S)

If you mean to bypass it's own power supply and connect the drive itself to a PC power supply - yes, I had already tried that, with the same results - just no signs of life at all.

Dead HD recovery (Mini S)

Hey guys, I have my old System Solutions 213MB Mini S hard drive (with ICD The Link II), but it's these days it's dead and doesn't power or spin up at all. Now, there's nothing *vital* on there, and I (luckily!) stumbled across an older backup of the drive so I have about 85% of it, but I think ther...

Re: sYbil for Atari , somewhere??

Just seen this news piece in Sound On Sound, July 1991, which reminded me of this thread: SYBIL FOR REAL TIME PERFORMANCE New from Scorpion Systems of the USA is sYbil (£99), a program which differs to regular sequencers and algorithmic composers in that it is intended specifically for real time per...

Re: Atari and Music.

Thanks - yes, I totally get and agree with what you are saying. A "DAW" can be defined in different ways, and my purpose was not really to categorise them or exclude anything as such. I've chosen to focus on an integrated system which was both a MIDI sequencer, *and* an audio recorder, in the same a...

Re: Atari and Music.

So, nobody has that beta version of Notator HD ?, because the image distinguishes the two independent softwares: Notator v3 and Sound Designer II. It was never released, so it probably never left the hands of the developers - and from what I understand, much of this old stuff is difficult to track ...

Re: Atari and Music.

Have you checked the antiquity of other recording systems with Atari, for example ADAP of Hybrid Arts ?, then the Digital Master would appear and in 1991 the ADAS system of Plasmec that worked together with Cubase Midi in any Atari. There were some other systems around in this time period of course...

Hey, AtariX is very cool indeed! Just installed it and have been playing with it.

Any way to change key bindings? My "y" key produces a "z", and vice versa... 8O
