Re: Parallax Distorter 2

Exuse me, but may I ask on what hw/emulator this screenshot made? https://media.demozoo.org/screens/o/80/d9/3200.169612.png It has black lines on the right side in every 16(?)pixels. Not sure about which emulator, but I think this is from an older version of the code. I had a couple of issues that ...

Re: Parallax Distorter 2

Great! This was so much fun. I'm very thankful for the encouraging comments. I'm also happy to hear it works on real hardware. It is amazing how well it worked to develop in an emulated environment. Now I'm thinking of what to do with all the NOPs left. ;-P I would love to put the blitter to use, bu...

Re: STE specific fullscreen issue

I was playing around a bit with these things (see the thread about the "Parallax Distorter 2", http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=34267 ). I noticed something strange in Hatari. When I put the write to hscroll before opening the left border (as seems to fix the issue described above), I ...

Re: Parallax Distorter 2

I've tested the updated version, and the "left side buldge" is fixed. But the right-side "scanline ending too early every 32nd line" is still the same. It shows the font colours for 20-30 pixels then going black. A little tip, if you have problems with hskip (modulo) register not being able to do w...

Re: Parallax Distorter 2

Thanks so much for testing! I have an idea (though I’m a bit surprised I coded it this way, and even more surprised that the emulators didn’t catch this). I’d love any help in Stockholm, especially with the floppies. To dig out the sources, i need the hard drives. I have a potential opening at work,...

Re: Parallax Distorter 2

@evil, I found a potential reason why it could be different on real hardware, with respect to my setting of the hskip value on the first line. Could you try the updated version? @lotek_style, I hope I can retreive them, but I don't know how yet. I have the floppies, but no floppy reader solution (US...

Re: Parallax Distorter 2

Hehe, thanks for the encouraging words! I was coding the ST around 92-94 I guess. I made some intros/demos that I sent to my friend (Headcase), but I never released them. Around 94 or so, I started to code on PC instead. Me and Headcase called ourselves Corrosion, but we had no graphic artists nor m...

Re: -Closure- tricks

Well, I'm not an emulator writer, and I think you mentioned it before somewhere else; I looked at the border code, and it seems that you exploit that there are no 'switches', but rather being at the desired 50/60/70 at appropriate positions that counts. Instead of HI/LO at the left and 60/50 at the ...

Parallax Distorter 2

I uploaded a little sequel to the Parallax Distorter on GitHub, and wrote about it on the Facebook group for the Atari ST Demoscene. I thought it could be useful to mention here as well. Kind of like @leonard's byte-bending one, but this time bit-bending (per pixel y dist, combined with x-dist using...

Re: STE specific fullscreen issue

Why do you refrain from using 0 HSCROLL in this screen?
And how do you do it? Use 8 instead and scroll byte-wise?
