Re: Atari 1040 Ste prices ?

It's not only the 1040 STE. It often makes me laugh and cry at the same time when I see those rotten, brown plain 520STs being offered for 100 € or even more. But that affects all popular vintage computer hardware. About 20 years ago, you could get such items for reasonable prices. E.g. I got a full...

GFA Basic for sur ! GFA is the best !!!! In Germany, many users called GFA Basic "GEFAHR Basic". Gefahr means danger in English. Re: Software reset in C

Out of curiosity, what kind of fatal error is this supposed to handle? Ever heard of the HCF mnemonic? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halt_and_Catch_Fire_(computing) No, the HCF command will still burn the whole machine down. A fatal error in this case is when the application run...

Re: Software reset in C

Errr, this seems to be a Steem issue. The reset routine works perfectly with ARAnyM and on a real Mega STE, but fails to load the AUTO folder programs in Steem. I should have tested that before wasting your time. :?

But thank you for the hint with resvalid. ;)

Software reset in C

I am using the following code to reset the Atari after a fatal error occured. Unfortunately, the AUTO folder programs don't get loaded on reboot. Why? static void* get_os_start(void); void do_reset() { void* os_start = (void*)Supexec(get_os_start); Supexec(os_start); } void* get_os_start() { OSHEADE...

I should have known that it must lead into trouble answering a Thorsten while skyping with a Thomas . Yes, your are right with your comments. Re: Help needed for form_do() replacement for passwords

I think I found the right way to do it in the EmuTOS sources :D and replaced the "if (key != 0) { ... }" after the call to form_keybd() by this: #define ESCAPE 0x011b #define BACKSPACE 0x0e08 #define DELETE 0x537f #define ARROW_LEFT 0x4b00 #define ARROW_RIGHT 0x4d00 if (key != 0) { short old_idx = i...

Re: Help needed for form_do() replacement for passwords

objc_edit() does redraw the object. And I cannot simply push "*" because the key could be a cursor key which would lead in just changing the cursor position or move to another field. Maybe I could use Keytbl() to check if the scan code leads to an ASCII code. objc_edit() redraws the field with the p...

Help needed for form_do() replacement for passwords

I am working on a form_do() replacement which can handle password fields and echo e.g. asterisks instead of the typed characters. I modified the form_do() source printed in the Atari Profibuch to do so. That works pretty fine, but it loses the ability to move the cursor within the field because the ...

Yes, it works better. Increasing MAX_DTAS_FILES to 2048 lead to incomplete copies.
I attached a zip file with the "info gemdos" output.

Re: Issue with copying large directory trees from GEMDOS drive do ACSI partition

Shame on me. I failed building the patched version of Hatari correctly. I didn't have in mind that a simple "make all" doesn't work. Due to this, I was still running my dirty hack rather than your patch. Unfortunately, I didn't check the file date. :? Today I cleared the source tree and the cmake ca...

Re: Issue with copying large directory trees from GEMDOS drive do ACSI partition

No, TOS didn't give any indications. It just stopped the operation and the dialog box was closed. But that amount of folders, files and bytes is far beyond what I really need. So, your patch is definitely a step forward.

Re: Issue with copying large directory trees from GEMDOS drive do ACSI partition

On host side, Hatari can only keep track of 256 DTAs: https://git.tuxfamily.org/hatari/hatari.git/tree/src/gemdos.c?id=v2.2.1#n103 How do you crazy guy come up with something like that off the cuff? Re: Issue with copying large directory trees from GEMDOS drive do ACSI partition

@ThorstenOtto: You are right with the number of files and the byte count. I checked the tree in my DOS box with "attrib /s /d", but there are no hidden or system files or directories. GEM's file info shows 313 folders / 795 files / 11345097 bytes on the GEMDOS drive, but 315 / 800 / 11570644 on the ...
