Re: BeePi 1.1

What I experienced today was that after hanging, the boot process of Aranym continues after a certain amount of time. I turned my BeePi on this morning, recognized it hanging and went over to do my regular work. After two hours I looked at it again and saw that it has continued booting into the desk...

Hang on boot issue

This is just an idea to possibly get rid of the "hang on boot" issue. I haven't tried it yet and it will increase the startup time, of course. What if Aranym would be started from rc.local only to be shut down immediately to let BeePi continue and start Aranym again using the desired configuration? ...

ARAnyM and serial connections (tcpser)

Is it possible to use tcpser and socat to make ARAnyM (1.0.2) connect to telnet bbs's? I can't get it to work on my Raspberry Pi so far. 1) I run tcpser and socat as background processes: # tcpser -v 25232 -s 19200 >/dev/null 2>&1 & # socat PTY,link=/tmp/modem,raw,echo=0 TCP4:localhost:25232 >/dev/n...

One more: At least some (my) Micro SD extenders don't work with the Pi4. But USB boot works fine.

Re: [MegaST] what hw upgrades do I need in 2020

Regarding display/monitors: Maybe you consider buying a used LCD which can handle even colour video at 15 kHz (e.g. NEC 1970Nxp). In that case you can use Gossuin's MCSWITCH (see http://www.gossuin.be/index.php/shop#ATARI) VGA adaptor for all native ST resolutions.

Re: BeePi 1.1

In which way is the root account disabled? You can still become root with "sudo su -", set a new password and log in. SSH root login is disabled, that's right.

At least for me and my SDL keyboard issue:

Re: BeePi 1.1

From my point of view there is no need to make two distributions. You can check /proc/cpuinfo to get the information about the Pi version and then either populate app2start and run startx (if it's Pi4) or run aranym-jit and hatari directly. Aranym isn't really slower when running your MiNT setup whi...

Re: BeePi 1.1

Both, ARAnyM and Hatari, are using X11 output now. And both run veeery slow on the Pi 3B with low resolutions being scaled to screen size. I changed the script for me to not use X11 until my Pi 4 arrives.

Re: BeePi 1.1

I am using a HDMI -> DVI cable. But that worked with no problem with BeePi 1.0.
But commenting "hdmi_ignore_edid" seems to solve the issue. "hdmi_safe" can remain commented.

BeePi 1.1 is up and running now. Tomorrow I am going to try to migrate the changes I did to 1.0.

Re: BeePi 1.1

I tried to run the new version on my Pi 3B, but something is wrong with the HDMI video output. My montor (LG Flatron L1942PK, 1280x1024) says: DIGITAL OUT OF RANGE 67.3kHz / 60Hz Is it just something I can set up in config.txt? Update: After uncommenting "hdmi_safe=1", the monitor is quiet, but the ...

Re: Atari 1040 Ste prices ?

It's not only the 1040 STE. It often makes me laugh and cry at the same time when I see those rotten, brown plain 520STs being offered for 100 € or even more. But that affects all popular vintage computer hardware. About 20 years ago, you could get such items for reasonable prices. E.g. I got a full...

Out of curiosity, what kind of fatal error is this supposed to handle? Re: Software reset in C

Errr, this seems to be a Steem issue. The reset routine works perfectly with ARAnyM and on a real Mega STE, but fails to load the AUTO folder programs in Steem. I should have tested that before wasting your time. :?

But thank you for the hint with resvalid. ;)

Software reset in C

I am using the following code to reset the Atari after a fatal error occured. Unfortunately, the AUTO folder programs don't get loaded on reboot. Why? static void* get_os_start(void); void do_reset() { void* os_start = (void*)Supexec(get_os_start); Supexec(os_start); } void* get_os_start() { OSHEADE...

Re: Help needed for form_do() replacement for passwords

I think I found the right way to do it in the EmuTOS sources :D and replaced the "if (key != 0) { ... }" after the call to form_keybd() by this: #define ESCAPE 0x011b #define BACKSPACE 0x0e08 #define DELETE 0x537f #define ARROW_LEFT 0x4b00 #define ARROW_RIGHT 0x4d00 if (key != 0) { short old_idx = i...
