Re: names.txt, let's make one

Also more polishing gives imagination it should be possible to make RPi emulator manager like Emulation Station. Even if you could get an Emulation Station like GUI on the MiSTer, I think I would still use the current MiSTer GUI. I kind of like its simplicity and it is very quick to navigate. It's ...

Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

So, after some more testing it seems the DELAYSYSEX option did help (if not completely fixed) with the problem. By using QEMM and with the DELAYSYSEX option correctly set I am now for the most part able to run games with the SC-88 Pro without any hanging notes. Unfortunately, a few games still have ...

Re: names.txt, let's make one

Maybe read my post again? I don't think it says what you think it says. Don't just assume the worst from people yes? If anything, the world collapsing should make us more friendly towards each other, not the opposite. it wasn't addressed to you personally. OSD is not a game you have to play. I woul...

Re: ao486 Install DOS games

Glad you've figured it out.

Enjoy the core... I've been spending a few (many) hours with it and although it is not very polished, it works well for the most part.

Re: names.txt, let's make one

World is collapsing because OSD can't display longer names. It seems you have nothing to do. Learn the HDL and make/port a new core - this will be 1000 better and useful. Maybe read my post again? I don't think it says what you think it says. Don't just assume the worst from people yes? If anything...

Re: ao486 Install DOS games

Hi,

That should be pretty much it.
Alley Cat only has 1 file (55.067 bytes) and it should run pretty much from anywhere.

Have you tried running it from the Hard Drive instead of the disk drive ?

Can you provide further information on the steps you take and exactly what happens?

Cheers

Re: names.txt, let's make one

As long as it never becomes some Hyperspin garbage, it is the most important. And knowing Sorgelig's love for this kind of thing, we will be Ok :) I don't think that will ever happen. Even if another more advanced/fancier GUI is created (and I believe someone is already working on it), it will alwa...

Re: names.txt, let's make one

There are 2 limitations: 1) OSD size is fixed. More resources needed for larger OSD which is unreasonable as these resources better to spend for core's needs. 2) Since MiSTer supports resolutions down to very small one, it has to be able to fit OSD in smallest one. Overall it's more complex than it...

it should be in /media/fat/linux Thanks Sorgelig! ------------------------------------------------------------ While tinkering a bit more, I have discovered that if I use QEMM instead of EMM I get a lot less hanging notes. It still feels random, but before I got hanging notes almost always, and now...

Re: names.txt, let's make one

You can use up to 255 chars per name. But for obvious reason only ~28 chars are visible with scroll if you move the cursor to long name. I'm sorry, but I have explained myself poorly. I meant to ask if it is possible to have more than 28 chars visible (i.e. make the menu larger to accommodate longe...

Are you a programmer? If not maybe you could learn and develop for the Next or MiSTer. As much I appreciate the recurring "you can learn to program a core yourself" ethos that has been a staple of this community for many years, my talents lie elsewhere. I am an IT engineer, but I haven't programmed...

Indeed, this is a great feature.

Would it be possible to have more characters on screen to allow for longer names? Or is there some limitation?

Re: ZX Spectrum Next sources released

Why need to develop Shadow of Beast for Next if you already can load Minimig and play this game? Next is a fantasy computer. And as a commercial project this feature attracts more users, but in reality there are not enough developers who will write some new games. There will be several games before...

DOS 6.22 and QEMM 8.03 Anyway, just out of curiosity, does setting "DELAYSYSEX=FALSE " in "/media/fat/MidiLink.INI" seem to help any? As always such post-mortem retro system upgrades are fun for a couple of days - not more. If you are fan of Spectrum, then current ZX Spectrum core does everything already. If you are bored with Spectum games - load the other core of more advanced system. As I respect (and understand) that you may ...

You can also use Dosmid to bypass SoftMPU entirely, but you need another util to set the com-port speed. Dosmid does not do this and DOS "MODE" command does not allow higher than 9600. UARTCFG 38400 "DOSMID /COM=3F8 TEST.MID" UARTCFG came from here --> https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=...

Not sure is it will help but have you tried running without IRQs? I recommend that first and only trying IRQs as a last resort. The setting seems to break more stuff than it fixes. Hi! Thanks for coming back to me on this topic. I have a MT-32 and a SC-55MK2 and SC-88Pro all connected in a chain and don't experience that. Maybe there is something wrong with it? Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

Hi! I've just recently decided to jump on the MIDI bandwagon and bought a Roland SC-88 Pro on the cheap. Unfortunately the whole experience has been challenging, to say the least, as I cannot seem to be able to run ANY games without having "hanging notes" at some point, and that completely ruins the...

Re: Scanlines and Resolution

Also, we realized a while back that since ao486 is almost always outputting doublescanned VGA modes (320x240 would actually be 320x480) you end up getting 2x scaling usually with vscale_mode=1. The way the filters work, 2x scaling wouldn't give you proper scalines because the way the math works out...

It seems you cannot get proper scanlines with the 486 core though ; due to the fact lines are doubled before the scanlines are applied. Will work with all other cores. Ahhhhh... that's why! Now it makes sense the stupid resolutions I was getting from that core... Can these settings be set per core?

I converted the two speakers into one speaker by removing the fake speaker and putting the two real ones together. Do that for each side so you have 4 real speakers and 2 amps and its a decent little set for cheap. 8O You know that all speakers are real, right? 2 of them are active speakers and the...
