Re: Recasing suggestions for STE

I was about to give it up but I thought at least I have to try to fit the mainboard in. I got the idea to leave the shielding on. I assembled the mainboard with spacers to the case. I carefully made a hole in the side panel. When I paint the shielding black it is not too bad I think. I am not going ...

Re: SPDIF - Listen from it?

Good I'm not alone there are more people without clean desk policy
I ordered the cheapest dac I could find <€10
Curious what it will do. Will it be any better than the Falcon analog out or do I realy need a Cambridge Magic, Chord Hugo or whatever they are called.

Re: Recasing suggestions for STE

Got my case today. Pretty fast for the mail in these times. https://i.imgur.com/Y3ms0Y9.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8Ouu37S.jpg I use an ST board here for measurement before I dismantle a precious Falcon. What I feared is the width is not enough. Now the sides look easy enough to adjust. I also need to ...

Re: SPDIF - Listen from it?

I recently got the same Soundpool SPDIF interface. I haven't been able to get sound out of it yet. I don't have an amplifier with digital input but I do have a Roland Quad-Capture for the pc, which has optical and coax in/out. When it works I would like to get some simple dac between the SPDIF and t...

Re: What's the difference between various MiNTs?

My first MiNT encounter was KGMD. Nice memories. Mine too. Those were the days. :) My first MiNT was MultiTOS which I got with the Falcon. I think Atari send it to registered Falcon buyers. It was pretty useless in my opinion. Crashed upon almost every application. Also must be said most software w...

Re: What's the difference between various MiNTs?

I would like to install a MiNT on a Falcon030 for the GBE. Just a Multitasking GEM environment.
It must be possible to boot with normal TOS as default. Dual boot with Xboot3 if possible?
VanillaMiNT is the right choice for me?

Re: What's the difference between various MiNTs?

So MultiTOS can be called a MiNT distribution by Atari.

Re: Recasing suggestions for STE

I ordered an aluminum case. The inside width is 435mm which should be enough. Beware that most 19" cases are smaller inside. 30cm deep is enough. For the midi ports maybe holes should be cut in the side panel. With aluminum this should not be such a problem as with steel. Or else I could solder exte...

Re: Recasing suggestions for STE

Yes looks great but will be too expensive. I see a nice looking 19" panel under the "Inspiration" for $235,90 I contacted some firms including this one: https://www.myelectronics.nl/us/customized-pcs/ Got a nice mail back from the sales man who has a retro Atari heart, that is a reason why I like to...

Some box yes and I was thinking maybe a rack to put it in.
There are wooden desktop racks in the audio business for just 2u.
Good to place a monitor on.

Re: Recasing suggestions for STE

I can have something like this made for about €60 including the logo and letter painting. A simple steel 19" 2U box is about the same price or maybe €50-100. Can't buy a 3d printer for that money. The design is just a first sketch. I have some things to consider. The height of where the components g...

Re: Recasing suggestions for STE

This is the DeskTopper and joska is right it is a very ugly case. Desktopper is great for the extra space but it is not practical to open. I cut out some parts at the back to make it easier to pull the box over the scsi connectors. Inside it has a second floor which you need to remove before you can...

Yes it can be used like a pc. I installed Linux Lite on an USB disk. It runs STeem and even Steam withouth any problem.
Look at Atariage for more information about the VCs.
This forum is more dedicated to the 16/32 bit Atari machines.

Re: STe demo disks

Thanks yes Boing, Fantasia, 3Dscroll and Sound off are identified. Slideshow is nothing more than a monochrome slideshow, not a tech demo. The disk called "STe DEMO DISK" contains a readme.doc in dutch. This is the Google translation: STE demo disk, 7-2-90 This is a self-starting demo floppy that co...

STeDEMO.jpg Are these known? They were probably used on computer shows. I have 8 copies of the slideshow disk. The slide show shows monochrome screenshots of Adimens, Calamus, GEM Desktop, Happy Music, LDW Power, Wordplus. ADI2____.jpg Boing demo I think this one was public domain. Can't read the o...

Re: GFA-Basic English manuals (PDF)

Ok I will start scanning then. Ofcourse it does take some effort and time..
It looks like it's all about 3.0 even when the disks are 3.5. The source code example comments and variables are also translated which makes it very readable and probably usefull for the Dutch speaking programmers.
