Re: PCEngine core issues with roms?

Nice development - Thank you very much. I like the MiST to survive and use it even more then the MiSTer theses days (don't ask 8) ). Also many other even newer platforms use MiST as reference point (like SiDi or Unamiga). So any improvement effort and especially bringing CD-ROM capabilities (PC Engi...

Re: Work on the Minimig core?

I'm sure this is going to be a very silly question but... I'm trying to setup the Picasso96 and RTG modes (and I barely understand what those are) on my MIST. When I follow the instructions linked to and posted by Negsol on November 2nd and from within the readme files on the MinimigUtils disk ever...

Re: Work on the Minimig core?

Problem fixed see last line: One of my hdfs that worked before does not work with the latest firmware (26.11.2020). I created the hdfs with UAE and it still boots fine in UAE. Anything one has to consider when creating hdfs? Is there a size limit? The HDF is 3.9 GB? Anything I should try? Capture.JP...

Re: Work on the Minimig core?

As I say, untested on MiSTer but it might work - or it might need some debugging still - but if you're feeling brave give it a spin! I tested the MiSTorMiSTer monitor script. It works great! Really universal wb 3.1.4 hdf are possible with it. I first installed it on a MiST (1024x768) and then trans...

Re: Work on the Minimig core?

I got one hdf working for both earlier only that it was a WB 3.1 setup. I got everything working on the MiST for the 3.1.4. Everything works as expected with the old files.

I will test the new script for out soon and report back. Thanks for your help.

Got 800x600 RTG working now - I will do a clean install tomorrow - Thank you! I guess I messed up along the way. I like to use same hdfs on my MiST / MiSTer - Guess RTG will change it to some degree now :)

Re: Work on the Minimig core?

It works on 3.1.4 for me. You're not trying to use the MiSTer's RTG driver on MiST are you? They're similar but not identical, and not compatible between the two. Which version of P96 are you using? I haven't tested with the latest version yet. I certainly did - I used the tutorial posted here http...

Re: Work on the Minimig core?

I know that it should work - But I cannot find the mistake - I tried to install it 4 times now ... Maybe it is the Monitor (Eizo Flexscan) - But it works perfect with 3.1 so I do not know.

Re: Work on the Minimig core?

About the RTG support - First of I am really greateful that MiST core reached this milestone - Thank you all involved! I did some testing and got it to work with my WB 3.1 setup. However, I wonder if anybody got RTG working on a Hyperion 3.1.4 based install? Is this a known limitation? It only give ...

Re: MIST C64 core

I've noticed that you have '8' in your joystick_remap in a place of a button, which is 'up'. Might be the reason? I know. Of course I tried different variants to make sure the 8 is not causing the problem. 8/up is nice on a button as the C64 tends to have games that force "up" in form of jumping or...

Re: MIST C64 core

Ok - last solution (that I now use to mitigate my Giana issue) I basically mapped Num Lock to the blue/x button for the C64 core; [c64] joy_key_map=100,47 ;47 - Scroll Lock (OSD) Mapped to blue button (X) - Toggle num lock without keyboard (Giana Sisters) joystick_remap=0583,2060,1,2,4,8,10,20,100,8...

Re: MIST C64 core

As of course many of my wireless keyboard do not feature a Num Lock I looked at other possible solutions. I noticed that I missed that the "joy_key_map=" ini parameter is additive. Therefore joy_key_map=8,52 was also always set for my C64 core also. Anyhow - I wonder if one could set joy_key_map=8,5...

Re: MIST C64 core

I found the solution. Basically pressing Num Lock so that keyboard joystick emu is enabled. After this the iBuffalo SNES controller works normally. Thanks again for your help Slingshot! I guess Giana Sisters has Up as a pause key - who knew?

Re: MIST C64 core

Is there a pause button in the game (either joy or keyboard)? Probably that's activated together with up for some reason. Is this happen with the joystick emu (num lock, then use the arrow keys as a joystick)? Yes - you are onto something. I unplugged everything but a keyboard. Then activating Num ...

Re: MIST C64 core

Maybe the jump button activates something else, too (joy_key_map setting in mist_ini)? That was my first thought also but: joystick_remap=0583,2060,1,2,4,8,10,20,20,8,1400,2800,40,80 ; remap buttons for SNES buffalo controller joy_key_map=20,2c Up is just up. Also it looks like the whole core freez...

Re: MIST C64 core

With core 0925 with Giana Sisters I somehow cannot make the character jump using my SNES Buffalo USB gamepad (pressing up). Re: USB-RTC

That Digispark module looks tiny, I don't see a 10uF capacitor on the power lines. Maybe adding that would help. Probably only the usual 100nF is there. Ok - I did some more testing - Firstly I added a 10uF capacitor on the power lines on the digispark. Then I moved everything from my bread board a...

Re: USB-RTC

I used an unpowered usb hub for ease of troubleshooting/unplugging - i guess the hub was a device too. But only plugging in one more device was causing the issue to reappear. Anyhow, i am convinced that it is not the current draw but a different form of interference. Maybe using different combinatio...

Re: USB-RTC

So I checked the power levels of the USB 5V rail and the DigiSpark. All pretty rock solid. So no worries. However, whenever I plug in more then the Digispark into the USB ports the DigiSpark cannot be accessed by MiST any longer. Really strange behavior. I will look around the internets and find out...

DigiSpark should not draw more then 20 mA. So maybe I need to add more capacitance to the power rail? Time to pull out the ocilloscope I guess

Re: USB-RTC

You had a usb_set_addr(new=6) error, that's not related to the RTC, it's some USB issue (not enough power? Bad cable?) Thanks again for helping with the troubleshooting. You hit bull eye with your remark about the power situation. The power supply was 2.1 amp. so it should have been good all along ...
