Re: Falcon sD|SPi interface idea
Interesting. That reminds me a simple SD card interface for the 8bit Thomson, that plugs to the joystick port. Perhaps an enhanced joy ports on the F030/STE could be bitbanged fast enough to emulate SPI as well? SPI is not about the speed, but about the signals. You can SPI as slow as you like but ...

Re: Falcon sD|SPi interface idea
It was not intended to be a permanent storage device but a fast and cheap transfer option between modern computers and the Falcon('s internal storage)

Re: Falcon sD|SPi interface idea
So back to the questions in the OP, does anyone knows
- how to know if a serial transfer has been completed?
- what does that '2 clock cycle between words' in the manual means?

Re: Falcon sD|SPi interface idea
PARCP for 40eur and only marginally faster than a serial/hxc raw? nah -- but at least have a nice file manager NetUSBee looks nice but 60eur -- maybe one day. If possible, this SD interface could achieve around 1MB/s transfer speed (a bit slower for writing) and could cost around 10eur including the...

Re: Falcon sD|SPi interface idea
However, not sure what you want to accomplish with this, Cheap, relative fast, accessible interface without hacking the case apart. I have problems accessing the internal storage after formatted (CF card partitioned and formatted to TOS drives) -- yeah, Drive imager 1.35 can do some transfer but no...

Falcon sD|SPi interface idea
Just throwing this idea out if anybody would like to make it possible, IF possible, or maybe I will ... but that would be much later.. The Falcon has a very interesting connector: the DSP connector - it has SPI-like communication with DMA to use quite a high throughput and a programmable clock divid...

Re: Alternate TT hi/VGA adapter
Oh, a bit of update to anyone who bought my adapter. As no one seemed to have mentioned it, I've just discovered the plastic hole in the TT is a bit too tight for my adapter (at least on my computer) so it may not connect properly or break the TT's plastic (mine was broken already, so it wasn't too ...

Re: Beginning of very long journey
Those gerbers are in the Atari_HQ_1 iso Drawings/5_25_disks/Sparrow with the accompanied aperture-list, but you have to hunt down an older version of GC-Prevue (older than 2018) as the new ones require 50$/year to work....
Then still, you can view, but not export to other more useful/editable format.

Re: Beginning of very long journey
Please don't forget, the available gerbers are not complete, most likely missing major VCC and GND planes Iirc, the GND and VCC planes are there, it's just that no components are connected to them as mpattonm already wrote. One would expect to see something like thermal traps on those planes around...

Re: Beginning of very long journey
SIMM socket is very good idea indeed. The 44pin EPROM is fine with minipro (tl866), just needs a bit tweaking on 2 pins of a 44plcc to 40dip adapter. (been there done that). I used a ' 78c/89c/51/52/58 PLCC44 to DIP40 ' adapter by betemcu and modified to work with 27C4096 by connecting pin DIP11 to ...

I see your bottom plane also missing these fills around the power connector.

Re: Alternate TT hi/VGA adapter
Looks good, but using an RJ12 splitter may be easier as those already have the housing, just replace one connector with a USB one. (i have some but it's too fiddly for me and still needs short cables that i don't have/don't have crimper to make -- or i should have bought ones with wire already attac...

Re: Alternate TT hi/VGA adapter
There will be a new batch soon (but now is the Chinese new year) The Floppy is powered from external power supply. DB9 would be nice, but those are on keyboard and would need long wire... It could be splitted from the keyboard connector, but that needs crimping connectors and splitters and stuff ---...

Re: Cubase Audio Dongle Clone
Logic analyzer won't help you as the combination logic designed to take too long to brute-force it. As i said earlier, a non-invasive method would be the side-channel attack (monitoring the power consumption with arbitrary pattern) Decapping would be even better but requires more tools and destroys ...
