Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

As far as I remember, AR only works with kickstart up to 2.04, and it has problems with the tg68k CPU core. Even in real Amigas it doesn't work with 020+ CPUs. AR was (is) used in the original minimig, so the code and support is already there. I removed it /replaced it with HRTMON since I found no w...

Re: Work on the Minimig core?

Changed blitter state machine, so that it performs first dot write to D pointer address and correctly increment it. agnus_blitter.v was modified so that these lines are added: Hi, I really don't remember :) But if you look in the changelog: 2016-02-09 - RK - BLITTER - blitter line mode fixed (fixes...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

68020 has cache (i-cache), so for AGA chipram cache must be enabled. I also suggest to enable d-cache. Hi Sorgelig, the reason that the chipram cache was implemented was that without it, the 16-bit bus of the tg68k core is significantly slower than a real AGA machine, which would have a 32-bit bus....

Re: 680x0 cores

Not just. It distinguishes between instruction fetch and data read. Ok. But the minimig does not make use of that. The atari core in fact does to implement separate data and instruction caches. It's just that the minimig core does not make use of any tg68k internal signal that does not have a regul...

Re: Poll about prefered scaling quality

You'd probably only want to use integer scaling with nearest neighbor, that way there will be no shimmering, and you get nice sharp image. The best way would be to use NN to scale to 2x, 3x or 4x resolution (whatever is smaller than final resolution), and then use some form of sinc resampling (Lancz...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

Too cool, who's reading here. MikeJ also noticed this thread. Yes, it's been a while ;) Of course appending the same twice is linear. But he wanted to append the high bits of a longer word to expand it by less than the same ammount of bit. Yes that is true, since the proper result can't be represen...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

is not really correct way to copy lowbit color to highbit color. Doing that will result in non-linearity. So both solutions aren't perfect. Hi guys. If I may chime in - doing this will not result in non-linearity, it just changes the gain. That is, doing: wire [3:0] in; wire [7:0] out; assign out =...

Re: config .cfg file

Hi, I noticed the same issue in minimig - sometimes the cfg file is not written correctly, but it still works on minimig, but PC reports some problems with the file. I never figured out what the reason might be. But since .ini files don't seem to have the same problem, maybe moving from cfg to ini f...

Re: AGA core for mist

Hi AmigaOS2. I received your email and tried your setup. There is no minimig-mist version 1.2 on the shared Dropbox account. Your config for Workbench has wrong settings - 68000, ECS, no fast memory. It doesn't seem you disabled the ROM updates - a dead giveaway is that the minimig reboots once, whe...

AmigOS2: can you send me a list of games that don't work for you with the ROM update disabled?

mahen: not really ;)

What does 'works perfectly' mean to you? Do the games that didn't work for AmigOS2 work for you? Do you have ROM updates enabled or not? Same kickstart? Same config? Could I get the hardfile image and the kickstart ROM, so I can test this myself?

Re: AGA core for mist

Hi AmigOS2, I'm not really sure what the source of your problems could be. Of course, the v1.2 core could be problematic, but it works just fine for me and lots of other people. The v1.2 core is actually the fist one that supports loading of ROM updates modules & libraries, this didn't work on the p...

Re: AGA core for mist

Hi, it seems the CPU-chipRAM speed is too fast in the minimig-mist 1.2 even without the Turbo option. It's going to take some time before this is properly fixed, so for now, here's a test version of the minimig core which has the same speed as the v1.1 version when turbo is off. http://meditation.so...

Re: AGA core for mist

There is no known problem with the floppy implementation. Like I already said, SOTB only runs on the *original* 68000 CPU, the TG68 CPU core doesn't have 100% identical timings to the 68000. Either use WHDload, or find the *AGA fixed* floppy image.

Re: AGA core for mist

I've tried again with your settings, but it's the same, it crashes in the forest (the game freezes in fact, with the center yellow led blinking slowly). I don't own WHDLoad and I don't have a proper HD amiga desktop so at the moment it's easier for me to use floppies. And also I'd like to know why ...

Re: os 3.9 on mist

I just did it yesterday ;) There is not much to it - instead of mounting the CD image as hardfile, I just coped the CD to a harddisk image in WinUAE, and then used that to boot and install from. I copied the Emergency boot to the root of the harddisk, and the whole CD to a subfolder, added an assign...

Re: Walker on Amiga, keyboard issues

The keyboard / mouse signals come from the SPI clock domain, and there's a flag generated. I did the usual - convert the flag to level change (XOR), sync (double regs) the level change across clock domains, re-generate the flag on the other clock (XOR). Data is just double registered, it should be s...

Re: Walker on Amiga, keyboard issues

Hi,

I think I know what might be the problem - I was fixing some mouse issues, and I checked how the keyboard is handled in the core, it looks like the keyboard signals from the ARM CPU are not crossing the clock domains properly. I'll try to fix it in the evening ...

Will it support the AmigaOS 3.9 non official kickstart rom ? Yes, of course. I just figured out using FBlit + NewIcons triggered a huge screen corruption with the latest AGA core + 020 (OK under WinUAE). This is a very useful patch for speeding up the display and lowering the CHIP usage. Yes, FBlit...
